Keeps jumping back to the top of the article when scrolling in article view Would still be nice to copy and paste from article        Improved a bit but still has problems

This is the worst app for news ever Theres no tab for you to click on to read articles all it is is basically a picture of each section of the news paper and you have to zoom in to read it Even when you zoom in to read it its still super blurry Maybe its made for the iPad or something cause i am using my iphone and i can not see anything I expected a lot more from this app     Worst app ever

Yes this is a scanned edition of a newspaper That is what I want so no problem there Navigation in this app has always been buggy Sometimes it just crashes Sometimes you can just see the top half of a page and are unable to scroll down Sometimes on the index page you can see some of the index icons but are unable to scroll to the rest Close but still needs work           What I want but frustrating

App takes up 16gb which is 3x bigger than next biggest app on my iPad Why Why cant I restrict the app to just saving the current days paper        Memory hog

This app makes no claim to uptotheminute news but if it could at least accurately mimic the daily newspaper it would do its job But it doesnt Regularly articles are misplaced or omitted Once recently Roadshow was replaced by Joans duplicate column Today the entire mercury News edition was replaced by one of the local regional papers Valley News It is not that there are mistakes it is that obviously the whole exercise is an afterthought with noone checking the quality and noone correcting errors One day Mercury may get mobile But they havent yet        Doesnt even manage to replicate the newspaper

Kicks me out when I try to open it If its not broke dont fix it Very disappointed     Bad

Things I like Being able to access all 18 newspaper is sweet Can read old newspaper for the previous 30 days Things need improvement To have a favorite list of newspapers I like The text rendering speed is somewhat sluggish While zooming in text shows blurry until reaching a particular level it should stay sharp all the way through              Convenient and functional

The only app we pay for and the worst one we have A poor excuse for the news provider in the heart of Silicon Valley What a joke     Weak

Title says it all Now to finally try the other Scrolling too quickly or too often causes the app to close and requiring another attempt I thought there would be periodic updates to correct Guess I was wrong     Crashes at least once per reading

This app seems to be nothing but an afterthought Cant believe the premier newspaper of the Silicon Valley is so behind in embracing the latest technology in news content delivery The print edition is better than the Chronicle however the Chronicle has a much better App showing that they are investing in the future If I dont see a significant upgrade soon I am switching to the chronicle     bad excuse for an app

Ive subscribed to the Mercury for 30 years and still prefer a real newspaper but recently delivery has become very late so I thought Id try this eversion so I can read the paper before I go to work Its what I was looking for in some respects because it looks just like the real paper but its so slow and cumbersome to navigate that its not very useful This could be a good option for someone who wants the look and feel of a real newspaper so much that theyre willing to put up with a slow and frustrating user experience but others should look elsewhere        barely useable

Needs an update badly How much longer do we need to see the fake cover while the thing loads with Alex Smith smiling and happy as a 49er A suggestion dont put something there that is going to be old news very fast Also this app is not reliable Sometimes you cant scroll or get to the section you want or it just crashes for no reason Youre a Silicon Valley newspaper Get some decent programmers to fix this thingthis app just makes you look bad     Very lame

The app is only 17MB but within a week it was 17GB And thats with setting it to download the least data for offline reading There is no way to empty this enormous cache other than to delete the app and reinstall I am a subscriber but very disappointed by app that takes over all available memory     Grows HUGE

When are they going to fix this piece of junk It crashes way too much on my iPad Mini and is just about unusable on my iPad 1 Trying to read a locally saved copy is next to impossible More often than not the thumbnails of the paper will show up but the full screen pages will not Sometimes articles have missing or blurry words that never clear up Tech support is bad They dont call you back when they say they will It is unable to remember which edition youve selected at each start up        Piece of junk

Seriously put some effort into a real app What a pain in the butt to use     Dumb

This app is pathetic and useless It is all based on the print edition of a newspaper which is not useful for how news is read on mobile devices The release of this new app indicates that those who are leading the company dont have a clue as to how the world has changed     Pathetic

I dont see how you could possibly like this app At least on a phone Maybe with an iPad but basically it just gives you pictures of the newspaper It is virtually impossible to navigate     Terrible

This is the only news app Ive seen where login is required Big mistake since the login portal doesnt work for me at least     Login required

This is a horrible site It crashes at least once a month and tech support is inept and rude I often end up having to go buy the paper from a newsstand     Crashes regularly

The latest version of the app is a disaster Although I leave the app open all the time as before when then new days paper comes out Im forced to log in again This is a big pain     Have to log in every day

Is the Mercury News fearful that somebody other than me the subscriber and owner of the phone will read stories without paying Im close to canceling my subscription     Terrible for forcing me to log in everyday

This is a piece of junk It is nice to read an actual layout of the paper But each day when I open it the program isnt working so Ive had to reinstall every time And now its frozen in the settings screen Back to work software team     Junk

Luckily theres another app for mercury news download that one     Terrible just a scanned copy of the paper

For being in the Silicon Valley this app is a major disappointment It needs to be more stable and Im tired of it slowly loading and constantly jumping around from what Im reading to another page or story     Needs Major Remake

The content is great but navigating through articles is maddening inadvertent switches between articles happens way to easily           Navigation

After the last app update and my update to iOS 812 on my iPad 2 this app has gotten really slow and unresponsive When tapping on Pages in the menu on the side or bottom it does nothing and no longer takes me to the screen with all the pages in the edition Getting to other functions and pages has also gotten really slow        App has gotten worse

The app crashes a lot and that should be an easy fix The app needs a redesign badly The design now is too boring and it needs to be redone           Good But there is a lot of room for improvement

Ive had this app for months now and its far too buggy The app crashes an average of once per day usually when you try to go from one page to the next Sections of articles show up as blurry too blurry to read or with large blank spaces forcing you to reload the pages Scrolling up or down the page often makes the app jump to a previous page or the next page rather than the scroll you wanted Once youve zoomed in getting it to zoom out again is problematic and unpredictable you dont know if it will jump to another page jump elsewhere on the page zoom in further not respond at all or maybe just maybe do what you want It seems to be a poorly written app The web version is far better much less annoying and frustrating Dont bother with this piece of crap     Buggy

There are occasional glitches and the app crashes on me about three times a week Youre betting your future on electronic delivery and I like what youre doing But no updates since 2012        Gets the job done but has bugs

This app comes with no online instructions but boy does it need some I hate navigating the scanned image version of the Merc and it wasnt until Id had the app for months that I accidentally triggered the text only viewer I opened the app today and could not get it to leave image mode and go back to text mode Aaaaagh     The worst reader app Ive ever seen

Suddenly new version only allows sharing via Facebook and Twitter No thanks Give us back email sharing option     Can no longer share via email

I bought this as a substitute for the print addition It does do that well in bringing each page to the iPad But it is very very slow It takes almost 1 minute to load the days news when you launch the app During that time the app is virtually useless you cant read or maneuver And then its slow again when moving from page to page you wait again while it renders the page image There must be a better way        Slow Slow Slow

I cancelled my subscription after seeing the incompetence deployed in engineering this app If they report the news with the same gusto run     Terrible App

The new version of the app is not saving my login information so I have to enter it everytime the older version did not have this problem           Need to Login Everytime

I think its much better easier to read articles faster saves last read date Needs a way to save articles        Much improved

If you want the Mercury News NEWSPAPER and everything it includes this is what you want However if you want web content in an app missing a ton of the content in the physical paper get the other app version Or just use your mobile web browser the webonly app is useless to those of us who can buy the paper locally This version gives me my local paper which I love for its lack of extreme liberal bias without killing any trees perfect                 Made For People Who Love The NewsPAPER

Most unstable app on my iPad Crashes 56 times during a typical read Today after a reboot and ten attempts gave up Cant even get it to load without crashing     Completely unusable

I tried this paper based version on an iPad and the iPadspecific version I like them both This version actually does a very good job of integrating new technology to visually display the hard copy version of the paper and make the article content available in a variety of comfortable formats I still like browsing the hard copy version seeing the ads the page layout etc Ive used the eedition online for some time on a desktop and found it a bit clunky It works much better on the iPad              Good blend of old and new

This version requires you to login daily Now rarely using App Problem reporting is unavailable within App requiring large information reveal to what appears to be a third party website     Ready to unsubscribe from SJ Mercury

The app asks you to login ever other day even as a paid e reader member Totally ridiculous and unnecessary The app is unstable and crashes often Fix these two issues and it would be major progress for me     Too many logins
