Words are all scrambled Would have been faster just to type it out     Not worth the dollar

This is total BS Rip off does not work AT ALL Pay no attention to other reviews this app has absolutely no functionality at all All it gave me was gibberish and I spent a long time trying to get a result     I hate this app

I bought this in the hopes of scanning notes from my workbook for class Its horrible almost all the words are jibberish I took a photo with a dslr and emailed it to my phone and it still didnt like the picture It doesnt seem to do its job very well     Not quite

This is the biggest garbage I have ever bought Whoever wrote this works is either a complete idiot or the developers trying to trick you into buying to make Do yourself a favor and avoid paying for this scam This app should be called SCAM SCAM     Garbage

Even when I took a pic of large text it got some words right but mostly gibberish random letters Only friends of the maker of this app would write a good review on this one     Very bad results

Does not work at all Complete piece of crap Tried multiple times scanning clear block letters and nothing but gibberish returned     Totally useless Do not buy this app

The app barely works Even if the scanned text is perfect random characters still show up It also changes the layout of the text so if you scan a recipe this program renders it useless Great concept but as of now I feel like I wasted my money        So far off to a bad start

Well once again I do not understand why some people get bad results and others good results If you read the instructions you will see that 1 you need sufficient light low light introduces too much noise 2 Be sure that the picture is sharp no then retake it 3 Text to be scanned photographed needs to be as straight as possible Sometimes when you scan a book the curvature throws off the OCR I have scanned in both English and German and I am amazed that it can work so well on an iPhone Several have been perfect and some had a few errors ie 0 zeros seem to always be recognized as capital Os Under low light conditions or skewed text I get the predictable result gibberish So keep trying this can only get better To the dev Can you add the ability to use pictures from you library that have been enhanced ie contrast adjusted etc or possibly add the ability to tweak the picture in the app Thanks for a great app              Works for me English and German

Every time I tried this app it scanned pieces of words but mostly produced random letters numbers and ASCII symbols very far from what is claimed it can do Dont buy     Doesnt scan words

Accuracy is not bad Maybe 5 of words are misspelled Doesnt work with handwritten text I would suggest dragon dictation if you want to save time converting handwritten notes to text But if you are working with printed text this app is the way to go                 Great timesaver

Worth hellamore than 99c to me Just follow the tips and it works far more often than not                 Works for me

Bad app fix it it does not work giving the 2nd star now that we can use our own photos but this app needs work please fix        Good idea

After the developers promptly added a much needed feature ability to import Camera Roll images I am amazed by the power of ScanCam Ive just scanned a long paragraph of italicized text reproduced in a reprint of an old John Muir book and the accuracy was nearly 100 percent This OCR engine is really firstrate I would also add that preparing the text image by squaring it up and increasing contrast with a product like JotNot seems to help ScanCam do its job better Although not absolutely necessary it further improves the apps already impressive accuracy Perhaps ScanCams developers ought to consider a copromotion or bundling with JotNot In any event dont be put off by any negative review Try this yourself especially if you have the higher resolution 3Gs By the way it took a couple of reboots after installing before it started working properly for me Give it a chance before deleting It really is amazing And I have absolutely no association with the developers                 New Review of Updated App

I have a 3Gs and have found this program to be stable It has not crashed at all It seems to recoginze at about a 70 to 80 percent accuracy and seems to do better the more I use it as I learn more how to shoot the text for the best recogintion The most common mistakes are the joining of words by omitting the spaces in between and also misinterpreting two letters as one rr becomes m and such For an OCR program that costs less than s dollar before tax I am quite happy I fond this app is saving me time My only complaint is the near useless cropadjust fearture It is so slow I just take the time to better shoot my photo so I can avoid using the cropadjust option           Two and a half stars

This is easily the worst app Ive purchased I hope the developers can make this work its a wonderful concept     Incomplete

I have a brand new 3Gs iPhone I followed the instructions precisly bright light block typed lettering etc The program eigther crashed or gave me gibberish Not happy with results     Crashes

Dont waste your time     Junk

Tried multiple sources different typefaces different size fonts etc Recognizes maybe 5060 of the words By the time you finish cleaning up the scanned text you might as well have typed it to begin with This is the first 99 cent app Ive purchased that I didnt feel I got my moneys worth     Useless

I can never get it to work Lets see a video of this working So fake     Fake will never work

Used the camera to scan Result was jibberish Ok maybe the picture didnt come out clear I took a screenshot of an actual PDF on my iMac and tried that I still got the same jibberish Not a single English word came up This is junk I want my money back FAIL     Junk

App crashes all the time and when it does not the OCR is mostly incorrect     Poor at best

Half a star would be most appropriate for this apps Very disappointing as most times all you get is gibberish 3040 of time there may be some text Tried different sources and light conditions but nothing seems to make a difference You are better off just typing text rather than scanning and not wasting your time editing text Even for 99 cents I expect product to work at least 90 of the time     Awful
