You are an analog Photographer ? Then you will like this App With it you can measure the shutter speed of your cameras - just with your iPhone When you`re shooting film, you often work with ...
For old large format lenses to measure their accuracy to be able to compensate if necessary Very usedful badzny5
The Shutter Speed app and the matching Photo Plug are fantastic additions to my toolbox Easy to use the app is always with you when you shoot It s great Just look up the camera you re using that day and get really dialed in on your exposure Even slide film My only request Why not measure 1 1000 sec I can easily measure it but there is no place to record the measurement Thanks and great work Essential Tool For Vintage Cameras Captgonzo
This app is excellent zooming in out on the waveform works nicely and it is easy to position and save measurements to the many mechanical cameras I own It seems quite accurate between 1 1 and 1 15 even just using the built in microphone and that s plenty for me to perform simple checks for slow shutter speed accuracy I ve been using it mainly with SLR s with the film door open and holding the mic close to the shutter mechanism Thanks Works very well lonewolfsx
I ve been using this app for several years and find it to be helpful particularly with leaf shutters Currently running on iOS 10 1 on iPhone 6s with no difficulties Helpful app John Sisson Photography
Does not work on my 5s Does Not Work allan500
You have an iPhone 6 Sadly As others have stated it will NOT WORK Needs an update DO NOT BUY IF Cigarboxrob
It works but it would be a lot better if there was some filtering of the results e g moving average band pass It would make it much easier spotting the right peaks It works but could be improved Obixel
This was a pretty good app but it no longer works since upgrading to an iPhone 6 Very disappointing since I had invested in the optional Fototransistor plug to go with it Useless on iPhone 6 Bkeep3
Have an iPhone 5 and the photo resistor plug and everything works as it should Nice to know how many stops I have to compensate now Thanks Works Great Calphotography
Cool idea but don t bother if you have an iPhone 6 The screen controls don t work so it s impossible to select the shutter speed you re testing or edit the resulting wave form after measuring If the developer ever updates this it would be great Doesn t work with iPhone 6 and iOS 8 Nonuniform
A nice application using the sound made by the shutter opening and closing to time the shutter Unfortunately I ve been unable to find the Fotoplug or photo plug or any other manifestation of the light based plug in finding that would convert this to a five star review Useful for timing slower shutters tamoroso
Enough said Don t waste your money sitspin
I m pleased with this app in general audio measurement is a great way to measure shutter speeds Its plenty sensitive and had no trouble clocking my old RB Love the camera list stuff my only complaint is the confusing measurement of amount off Number of stops off is fine but the odd mix of fractions and decimals is just weird Would much prefer if it was just decimals in the measurement Functions well but not perfect John.Bob
This app made it very clear that the shutter was twice as long on all speeds under 1 100 sec Easy to use Accurate even at 1 50 using sound I like the control of doing the analysis yourself instead of the app using some algorithm I have not tried with the light adapter That could very well extend the usefulness past 1 50 Great app for shutter estimation on old cameras dg13
A good idea for folks who work with older analog cameras the simple idea here is that you can listen to the shutter or with a simple light sensor available from the author examine the light coming through the shutter and determine the shutter speed The app provides a database for you to store results by camera There are room for improvements the application doesn t try and do its own analysis of the data it s up to you the application makes assumptions about possible shutter speeds but those of us who need this kind of application will probably find it useful nonetheless Useful for testing analog cameras Eben O
Excellent first version Audio measurement is excellent for slower shutter speeds Waiting on the next batch of photo electric eyes so I can throw away my oscilloscope Thanks Feature request I would like to be able to adjust the recording duration as I find the three second window a little bit tight Great App Finally Something I Can Really Use WilliamBooth
Crashes when you try to save the waveform Completely useless Waste of money Hbaltz
This is an ingenious iPhone App It does what it says and I ve gotten credible readings for a Rollie Twin and a vintage Voigtlander The interface is fine but you need to add a camera first Saving to no camera causes a soft exit from the program I now have correction tables automatically generated for both cameras I ll probably add the 16 light sensor for more accurate readings but I am delighted with what I have Best Jim And a Calibration table to boot Carharty
Love the app exactly what I needed I really appreciate the update with the old speeds but it still lacks flexibility if nothing else the addition of 1 75 would help me but what I would like to be able to do is select any possible shutter speed so after I use the app to test the first time I can now come back with my updated shutter speeds and test how much they ve changed which they do in those old compound shutters Great app still needs improvements Horacekenneth
In all my trying I could only get one recording to work The app either crashed or froze on every other attempt To make matters worse the app is unclear as to which shutter speed should be fired first resulting in me recording the wrong speed for the one successful attempt Inventive idea failed execution RAB2R
The idea is great and the measurement process at least the only one I can use 1s work well The problem is that at least on my iphone 3GS the interface is not working correctly The screen appears to be cut in half and I cannot change the target speed Once it reads and you want to set the pick values by zooming in it will not stay when you zoom out and it is difficult to do it on small scale Also it s a bit of a bummer that you cannot organize your camera in the list after inputing them or delete a reading you have to replace it with a new one Upgrade my friend I would like to keep on using it as I have several old cameras Great idea not quite operational Djuna-X

I really like this app Theres a bit of a learning curve in terms of interpreting results but the more I use it the more useful it becomes Ive found that the trick to interpreting results is to visualize the way particular shutter mechanisms work The leaf shutters in my Rollieflex TLRs are pretty easy to measure but my Olympus Pen FTs rotary shutter was tricker It helps to do some research theres a lot of videos online showing slow motion images of shutter in action In this way the app also becomes a fun learning tool and increases a photographers understanding of their equipment Recommended Very helpful for older cameras
