Never have I come across a cooking app as thorough as Feast Kitchen As someone who enjoys the art of cooking I found that within this app is a variety of different cooking styles from easy to more involved You will find that within this app are various categories stating just that easy to more difficult There are also how to videos contained within the recipes for those who are unsure of the way to poach an egg or cutting up onions as examples Plus there are new recipes added every week There is also a grocery category that I find invaluable as well as a category that includes your favorite recipes I looked into this app when it was first suggested by Apple when they sent out a generic email of several new cooking apps available in the store I was so surprised when I started digging into Feast Kitchen One of the categories is free meaning there are several recipes for you to try without a subscription There are also several recipes that are included but you have to have a subscription by way of their monthly or yearly payment plan and are there just for you to try out I decided I would try a free recipe called Dahlia Lounge Mussels with spicy pork Sausage submitted by Chef Tom Douglas who owns restaurants in Seattle Absolutely delicious I substituted New Orleans Andouille sausage instead of the chorizo because that s what I had on hand It s very simple but delicious The fragrance of the onions cooking in the olive oil and then incorporated into the crushed tomatoes and the sausage makes you want to eat this dish before its fully cooked This was my trial recipe and so glad I chose this recipe to review I think that once you choose to try out any of the free recipes you will be tempted to subscribe to either the yearly plan or pay the month by month plan as I did to unlock the ingredients to several recipes Out of all the free cooking apps available Feast Kitchen is really my favorite For those of us who truly enjoy cooking or are just novice cooking Fast Kitchen is the app for you                     Delicious and simple Allthatjazzy

The app is nice but it s too bad there is not optimized for an iPad or even the iPad Pro s larger screen Most iPad stands don t work in a vertical orientation yet this iPhone only app cannot be used in a horizontal orientation on an iPad I had hoped this would get fixed over time but it hasn t I m deleting the app     Nice but wishing for an iPad optimized app cygnus-x1

This is the most ridiculous overrated food app yet There are so many great apps and websites out there with truly amazing food there s no sane reason to throw good money away just to satisfy the developers GREED on this one 1 You have to pay exorbitant amounts to RENT the recipes There s no way to print them or save your favorites They allow you to heart recipes but who knows how long they will last Jacque Pepin is a world renowned master chef with a library of cookbooks to his name You could buy several of his books online for the price of one years rental of this app and you ll get so much more for your money He is the rare gem in this app If you buy a cookbook or subscribe to a magazine you can refer back to them for as long as you please 2 The free recipes are frequently incomplete Part of it is free but the sub recipes for ingredients in the main recipe are in the paid group NOT HONEST 3 The recipes themselves seem ok albeit most are not geared for the home cook even if experienced 4 Many recipes are incoherently written and use obscure ingredients with no reasonable substitutes given These are old tricks insecure chefs use to try to prevent others from learning their techniques The rest of the world has evolved from this nonsense Too bad the app hasn t 5 The photos mostly look good although highly stylized Though some look like something I wouldn t even feed to my dog Ugh Blobs of unidentifiable mass on a plate In summary if you want to look at mostly pretty pictures dream of cooking like that and you like reading recipes on a tiny iPhone screen as it sits in a cloud of flour other ingredients then knock yourself out If you truly love cooking great food LOOK ELSEWHERE There are so many better more cost effective alternatives out there     Mortgage the house to RENT the recipes Wildstar8

I like to cook I have many cookbooks I consider myself a pretty advanced home cook I ve successfully cooked my way through a couple of one of their chef s books Michael Ruhlman Yet I look at this app and scratch my head The recipes are just like those found in any average cookbook one ahem highly photoshopped pretty picture of plated food a list of ingredients and a few instructions Except it s less helpful because the photos are so stylized that the food doesn t look approachable In fact some of the photos are downright silly why are you showing a bowl of food from the side I can t see what s in it The recipes don t help to dissuade me of the notion that I need to be a world renowned chef to make the dish Why aren t there any photos in a step by step Why isn t there a video of the chef showing me how to make the dish Why aren t the techniques accompanied by videos It s especially bizarre to look at a recipe that I ve made from one of Ruhlman s books and feel like I have no idea what s going on I get it the food is pretty but this app is completely missing the point Yes I d like to have recipes from Dan Barber but I d like to get more than I would from a Dan Barber cookbook No building a shopping list is not an innovation Every single recipe app does that and that feature has been around for more than 6 years in other apps Here s the thing make the food pretty but not intimidating Or if the dish is intimidating then have step by step photos or videos to help me the home cook and your target customer understand how to get there Without naming names there are other apps available one with a whisk on a yellow icon that pack these critical features Last I have to say that it s particularly offensive to put a note in your app update that asks people to either leave a 5 star review or just email them with app ideas Do they not understand why these reviews exist Well given how they clearly don t understand their customers I can t say that I m surprised         Missing the Point ladl;kja;rn433
