This seems like a nice app for studying Japanese kanji and vocabulary but it s a high price to pay I have sent back like 6 or 7 error reports about the word tomodachi It has the sound kodomo instead of tomodachi and I find it annoying that I am paying so much money for an app in which the developers have such poor response and only send back a useless automatic email saying they will look into it and they never fix it             Great app but poor developer response GSgamer83
Great tool for learning to write in Japanese But 15 a month I don t understand why so high a subscription cost for one facet of Japanese learning             A bit much TamiHz
I LOVE this app I ve been using it since it launched and it has been pivotal to my Japanese language study I prefer it over Anki and Memrise However it has been over a year since the app received an update There are minor bugs the app runs slow on my phone and pronunciations that don t match readings An update has been promised for months but so far nothing I don t plan to continue my subscription until one is made If it matters the app interface is also not attractive the desktop version is more pleasing         Needs an update jewelr0se
It is useless     Hate this app Hdhdbejshrhwiejkwuevejwiw
It is useless     Hate this app Hdhdbejshrhwiejkwuevejwiw
I always liked the idea of Skritter but it wasn t until they released the app that I started using it more frequently Works very well and has helped me a lot with learning kanji                     Love the app Scay21
This is so addictive                     worth every penny scmcaf
The Best keeps getting better Facility with kanji takes effort there s no getting around that But who knew it could be so entertaining Skritter s has almost gamified the process of writing the kanji There s something so tactile and immediate and addictively fun with Skritter s way of eliciting recall and helping guide the learner to correctly write the characters But it s not all games there s some brilliant concepts under this pretty hood Skritter makes full use of dual coding theory concepts Meaning you re not just writing you re hearing you re not just reading a character once in a session pretty soon you ll be asked to write it out What s wrong is gently pointed out with correct stroke order points gently being given as they re needed what s right is rewarded and what s wrong never a problem it s easily comfortably repeated through the SRS algorithms Soon enough those mistakes will cross over into the blue zone and effortlessly fall off your review list With Skritter you lll find yourself reaching for that smart phone in all those in between moments just because you can t wait to get that last time right And you will too Fast and many more besides Progress with Skritter is fast fun and tailored however you want to make it I ve waited a long time for Skritter It s worth every penny                     Phenomenal Wavy Wombat
Unlike flashcard programs that I ve used in the past to learn kanji this program actually keeps me awake It s the only form of studying I can do for more than an hour straight without nodding off It feels like a game The only downside on this app is the price 15 month is just too much If you get the yearly subscription though it s 100 which is something I m more willing to stomach Also there s always iTunes gift cards getting discounted every other month or so from various retailers You can usually find them for 15 off if not more So if you re cheap like me and wait to get a discounted iTunes gift card before subscribing for a year you can essentially get it for 85 so around 7 month                     My most used app MiniMichiru
By far the best app for learning characters Only complaint is 15 a month is really expensive it adds up to 180 per year Maybe 30 or so a year would be much more reasonable                     Amazing Name that's taken
This is essentially a flash card type system that should be used with some other program or book I have always felt that the best way to learn kanji is to learn how to write them and this app forces you to do so enable raw squigs for the best practice The subscription is not free but if you are determined and are willing to put the time into this app then there is no better tool out there as far as I ve seen                     Extremely useful to boost your kanji quartzimer
I see lots of potential but 14 99 a month is way too high a price for it         A good app wasted Malaiphonejlearner
I needed a Japanese learning app that allowed me to input my answer by drawing the kanji I finally found this one If you re taking Japanese in formal education odds are you need to be able to write the kanji as well as read them This app helps you do so and even includes many of the most popular text books like Genki 1 and 2 and the Heisig books There are a couple of downsides Firstly the cost Long run this is going to be even more expensive than Anki because they charge you 15 a month They start you off with a one week trial which during the first 24 hours I have already sunk about 3 hours into I certainly plan on subscribing but it s no cheap affair Second while I really love the app and interface there are some issues It is impossible to easily select which sections of a text book or other list you would like to go over You select the list you want to use and where you want to start from and you power through from there The apps decision to include words over and over again is unfortunate The app also doesn t hide a word that you have marked easy more than once like it should for example Unlike in Anki where you can finish a deck Skritter will just have you review once you reach the end It does not do as good a job as Anki in the spaced repetition management department So you re looking at an app that offers a ton of features like easily and immediately accessible kanji and vocab from many popular lists and the selling point for me the ability to submit your answer by writing the kanji What you sacrifice is customization of your lists unless you make your own to begin with and a less functional spaced repetition system I recommend giving it a chance for a week                     Only Japanese learning app that met my needs Treskatae
This is the best way to learn kanji I know Also it gives access to both Japanese and Chinese for 100 year Great                     Great Shizumura
I ve been studying Japanese for over 6 years now and until last year I only knew a handful of kanji probably less than 100 I occasionally practiced kanji with another iPhone app iKanji but ultimately felt like learning kanji was a lost cause until I discovered Skritter I ve learned about 600 individual kanji in less than a year In my opinion the price of the subscription is worth it Pros Because it s an app on your phone it s likely you ll always have it with you meaning you can study whenever you get the chance I don t drive and rely entirely on public transportation and while I m waiting for or riding on a train or bus I m also using this app to study For reference I m on an iPhone 5s but have also used this on the iPhone 4 The app works smoothly and I think its touch recognition is really good Rarely does it ever misinterpret my gestures when I m writing kanji no matter how complex the kanji is The accuracy is amazing It tests you on the kanji s meaning its reading and the stroke order You can also have it set to an option where if you re testing the meaning for example the reading won t be displayed either which adds an extra level of difficulty Someone else commented that there were too many options or that it was difficult to figure out how to use I on the other hand found it very easy and quick to set up and use It displays both in the app and online in more detail your progress as far as learning goes as well as what your retention rate is Cons The way the kanji is written can tend to be a little more stylized than necessary in the sense that it mimics calligraphy at times and this can be confusing I m not sure how to explain this better it s just something that I ve noticed I think this is really my biggest complaint with the app I don t fully trust the example sentences because I don t know where they re sourced from so I tend to ignore those Other thoughts Adding kanji in the app as opposed to online can feel a little clunky but it s not horrible and I guess all in all it s nice that this is even something you are capable of doing while on the go I muted the sound so I don t have any comments as far as that goes Ultimately I believe the pros heavily outweigh the cons including the price This app has improved my kanji recognition writing vocabulary immensely I use it daily and for me it works so well that I even find practicing kanji rather enjoyable now                     worth it bekoosh
I can t imagine trying to study Japanese without this app                     It works MikeyLovesSushi
I thought that this one was alright at first but there were a lot of options which can be a good and bad thing depending on how you use I on the other hand didn t know what the options meant and often got confused as to their purpose their also was a lot of pressure to buy and upgrade         Ok but too many options Language missing
This is the best kanji study tool I ve ever used and I can t recommend it enough Worth every penny                     Best Kanji Study App JackTamaki
The one problem I had when trying to learn kanji using the Heisig method was that it was never convenient for me to practice actually writing them This app lets you review by actually writing them And you can get hints by seeing stories from other people Great supplement to thee heisig kanji app and book                     Greater way to review kanji Benjifunk
Great app but subscription fees are too high Some business kanji vocab would be nice         Too expensive GuyJean
I love this Blurp                     Flurp Inoculumpastorum
This app is phenomenal By far the best way to practice and learn Kanji                     myfriendwolf
Honestly best Kanji memorization app I ve ever used I always come back to it It s fun teaches important stroke order packed with mnemonics carries a pleasant audio aid and tracks all of your progress while offering thousands of Kanji This app is the best on the market so I think I adore this app but being a broke highschool college student I find it difficult to pay the hearty price I wish they had student discounts I m hoping in several months I can afford the year subscription so that I can progress even further Please please find a way to make this tool more affordable I know the team has worked so hard to push this app as far as its gone but please It s difficult for students which is the primary target here Nevertheless thanks for such an amazing app I use it daily                 Student iTunesAppFanatic
Incredible app for learning not just kanji but also entire words                     Fan freaking tastic Bro. Benny
Skritter is like having teacher and a set of flash cards for every major Japanese text book Kanji Kana reading and writing and all that jazz Banzai                     Look no further Ed Ronin
I was very impressed by the number of characters I learned quickly but after about 2 months I stopped being able to remember more than the English meanings for the kanji This is good for learning to recognize kanji but as a learning tool for vocabulary it doesn t promote long term learning I think the problem is the sheer number of things they have you study and repeat I did not find it easy to learn the readings or vocab words with multiple kanji or hiragana this way I think Anki is better for actually learning vocab but Skritter is good for learning to write Kanji and stroke order             Good to start but outlives its usefulness Cartilage!
I think this is a fantastic app but was severely disappointed when I discovered there was a monthly fee Why not just make this a paid app at 10 or 15 and give people access after that Unfortunately won t be using this now             Great but subscription Fadedsun
The best way to learn how to write kanji                     Learn to Write Kanji Zyphen-
Simply brilliant been studying Japanese since 1984 for work school and used to live in Tokyo this is the best character vocab tool I ve ever seen Use it 3x day 5 10 min session Perfect                     Works for me Phibonachi
This a a great app to help you learn Kanji It s value is in its versatility it more than just flash cards Using existing texts is such a great idea as I have the accompanying books to follow along with You could easily use the app as a stand alone learning tool but as I got the books before the app I use it in conjunction I love that I can change things to suit my needs In addition to retention rate I can change how strict the stroke order is tracked I can change the cards themselves and most importantly I can control when I get new cards so if I get stuck I can spend an extra day before adding                     Excellent app cschuhart
Easily customizable through being able to add word lists from japanese proficiency tests and popular study books such as genki Fun to use almost like a game                     Rad Barubarusan
Okay I looked some of this up in my translation dictionary but I have never been able to master more than 5 kanji after now it s about at 20 I d say from Skritter and I ve barely used it This isn t the first time I ve tried to learn Japanese but this is the first time I used more complex radical combinations than and memorized them along with their meaning and their furigana pronunciation                     McFIDGETS
This app is very good It will help you remember kanji and Japanese The app doesn t teach grammar It is very expensive though I would rate more stars if cheaper             Good but expensive skubish
Every time I draw a character I get them ALL wrong even if its right Also 15 dollars a month is way too much to learn how to draw Kanji like someone else said 25 dollars a year would be much more reasonable I agree Other than that it s okay ish         Confused America-1123
Awesome Now I can Skritter on any train in Japan                     Convenient Ace27227
Tried it on a desktop first this is MUCH better                     Really useful on a touchscreen device RedTincture
Five stars                     Five stars Deedrio
Just perfect                     Perfect Osaka Geoffrey
Skritter has the best software I have seen for a Kanji based environment What you must understand about this app is it is intended for review and the best part is review of anything The app has books you can download the kanji from by which I mean Japanese study books like Remembering the Kanji So if you re following along with said book you can later come to this app to study the kanji you just learned Great for tests helps learning to write and read much easier I suggest you know your hiragana and katakana before you dive in though My one complaint is the price but you can keep all the kanji that you have already imported so you can review what you have been studying A nice incentive to keep learning                     Best Review iOS app Restless Bloom
Sorry guys nice software but way way way too expensive at 15 a month 25 per year would be much more reasonable         Outrageously expensive compared to the market Thomaswww
I love this app But or someone just learning the kanji an never seeing a certain one before I feel like they shouldn t test you on it at first Unless I m doing it wrong Haha but great and nice looking app                 Great Takumeep
I used it for the trial period and it got me hooked on learning kanji I decided to pay for the 15 mo subscription and have nit regretted it The mix of vocabulary writing reading is perfect I recommend this app It is the best Japanese language app I have tried                     I love skritter Eclectron
I am learning tons of kanji daily with RTK and this app Highly recommend                 Great app
Ive been waiting for this app so I can use Skritter offline and it lives up to my expectations Its awesome if youre learning Japanese you need this Its even good without a subscription if you want to maintain what you know                 Skritter

By far the best app for learning characters Only complaint is 15 a month is really expensive it adds up to 180 per year Maybe 30 or so a year would be much more reasonable                 Amazing
Just perfect                 Perfect
Rtk still feels a bit Beta I love this app but find mistakes daily              Love it yet annoyed
I love this app But or someone just learning the kanji an never seeing a certain one before I feel like they shouldnt test you on it at first Unless Im doing it wrong Haha but great and nice looking app              Great

Simply brilliant been studying Japanese since 1984 for work school and used to live in Tokyo this is the best charactervocab tool Ive ever seen Use it 3xday 510 minsession Perfect                 Works for me
Skitter is one of the best apps for learning kanji its a little pricey but it is incredibly useful Hoping the app will have single list study soon otherwise good              Good stuff
Skritter is like having teacher and a set of flash cards for every major Japanese text book Kanji Kana reading and writing and all that jazz Banzai                 Look no further
This is the best kanji study tool Ive ever used and I cant recommend it enough Worth every penny                 Best Kanji Study App

This is one smokin hot app Lots of fun I was surprised however that after about only THREE 3 kanjinote that I didnt write 333 or even 33the kanji learner is told that its time to pony up some big yen dinero moohlahto the tune of ONLY 15month to go any further Bottom line If youre serious about learning kanji and vocabulary then I guess 180year might be worth it Try to be totally at ease with hiragana and katakana before you begin But heck if youre already dishing out 51000year for tuition room and board at Famous Liberal Arts College in New England whats an extra 180 You probably pay that for iTunes and beer every WEEK Just dont be shocked dont choke on your chai frappuccino blended crème when the free thingy ends after about four minutes the first time you crank up this otherwise excellent app           Freefor the first 34 kanji
Easily customizable through being able to add word lists from japanese proficiency tests and popular study books such as genki Fun to use almost like a game                 Rad
Прекрасное приложение для изучения канжи Обучение как игра Увлекает и обеспечивает результат Много слов имеют русский перевод что удобно для русскоязычных Это однозначно стоит попробовать и вы поймете как это удобно и эффективно Рекомендую                 Рекомендую
If you really try and follow what the slides ask then you will really learn a lot in what I consider is a short amount of time Genius invention                 The best
This app is amazingly convenient It syncs whenever you have a signal but keeps a store of review words and kanji to practice when you dont have signal and are offline This means you can use this app anytime and anywhere The handwriting recognition is excellent and the app speaks each word to you out loud without having to press anything so that you get speakinglistening practice along with readingwriting practice If you use this app on your walk tofrom work and while waiting on line for breakfast and lunch and maybe a little during your commute you have already studied close to one hour of Japanese that day and you are not even home yet This app allows you to study while not having to sacrifice personal time when you get home at night A                 Best resource to learn Japanese vocabulary and kanji if you work for a living
The one problem I had when trying to learn kanji using the Heisig method was that it was never convenient for me to practice actually writing them This app lets you review by actually writing them And you can get hints by seeing stories from other people Great supplement to thee heisig kanji app and book                 Greater way to review kanji

I see lots of potential but 1499 a month is way too high a price for it        A good app wasted
Great app but subscription fees are too high Some business kanjivocab would be nice        Too expensive

This app is great and I have learned so much so quickly Havent touched any other kanji apps since starting skitter other than imiwa of course                 Best there is
I love this Blurp                 Flurp
Yes its pricey which is initially what kept me from using it But I finally ponied up and subscribed and was glad I did The writing detection algorithm is fantastic allowing for little errors and deviations while detecting big mistakes Ive managed to obtain a far more solid knowledge of kanji after practicing for just a month Bottom line is the cost is worth all the work that the Skritter team continues to pour into the development of this app Well done                 Wonderful
Five stars                 Five stars

Great app Its free to explore it and use a smallish number of characters early on then there is a very modest fee Worth every penny                 Awesome

The Best keeps getting better Facility with 漢字 kanji takes effort theres no getting around that But who knew it could be so entertaining Skritters has almost gamified the process of writing the kanji Theres something so tactile and immediate and addictively fun with Skritters way of eliciting recall and helping guide the learner to correctly write the characters But its not all games theres some brilliant concepts under this pretty hood Skritter makes full use of dual coding theory concepts Meaning youre not just writing youre hearing youre not just reading a character once in a session pretty soon youll be asked to write it out Whats wrong is gently pointed out with correct stroke order points gently being given as theyre needed whats right is rewarded and whats wrong never a problem its easily comfortably repeated through the SRS algorithms Soon enough those mistakes will cross over into the blue zone and effortlessly fall off your review list With Skritteryoulll find yourself reaching for that smart phone in all those inbetween moments just because you cant wait to get that last time right And you will too Fast and many more besides Progress with Skritter is fast fun and tailored however you want to make it Ive waited a long time for Skritter Its worth every penny                 Phenomenal
Tried it on a desktop first this is MUCH better                 Really useful on a touchscreen device
Awesome Now I can Skritter on any train in Japan                 Convenient
Love Skritter Use it with RTK and definitely enjoy practicing Drawing kanji with my finger is just as easy satisfying and helpful to learning as is using the Skritter website Everything syncs seamlessly So glad that I found Skritter at just the right time to start my kanji learning as the iOS app came out It makes it easy to study everywhere and any time                 Daisuki
