SkySafari 4 Plus

This is the most useful astronomy app I have found Use it at every observing session Great for public events you can give details of what is being observed quickly and accurately                 Best astro app

I have been using this app for a time now I own versions of 34 and different levels to boot I dont consider it to be a waste of money at all Having used an early edition of Redshift and 23 versions of Starry Night this app is quite frankly just about all one would need in the field Does it have all the bells and whistles of the laptop desktop versions No But it does so much so well In the field at out reaches I use the app to quickly find answers to questions posed I either cant remember or dont know I show customers an object in real time at the eyepiece and sometimes show an image of the same object in the database done by Hubble or a fine amateur It gives people a better feel for what we are looking at You may want to point the iPhone or iPad at the object in question and it will identify it Or maybe you wish to see what a comet will look like in 10 days just fast forward the time This app is quite simply a great tool I havent had the opportunity to use it to guide my scope But based on everything else it seems to me it would simplify the load of things to bring if you wanted a smaller footprint of hardware in the field I would and do recommend it to many people at star parties Beautiful job                 Great tool

The SkySafari team just keeps improving this app and its more fully featured big t brothers SS4 and SS4 Pro I love the new interface the graphics and all the info it has on objects Definitely the best astronomy app for the price                 Just gets better and better

I bought the Plus version Its the most Ive ever paid for an app It is worth the cost Powerful easy to use and the Help text is very good and the customizability is extensive but strict forward I use this more than the program on my PC I spent hundreds of dollars for I use it to guide my telescope and it is very easy and intuitive I also like the ability to create custom observing lists and record observations The information and pictures of each object are informative and interesting Many if not most have accompanying detailed photos                 Well worth the cost

I have enjoyed using this app and it does everything I need it to do and more There is a ton of information about the stars planets and deep sky objects My favorite features include being able to create an observing list and displaying a circle that shows the field of view for my binoculars or telescope                 Excellent

The app used to be a great companion for stargazing Unless you dont use the newer iOS and the application search feature it works fine Otherwise it will crash every single time you try to look for which bright objects you can see        Crashes on any iOS higher than 71

As a proam astronomer work for NASAJPL and hold an academic appt as adj Professor of Physics I have found this program is the best out there I use it with my GOTO mount and find it very accurate and easy to use Having tried and used literally dozens of astro programs over the years this one is clearly the best                 Great program

Sky Safari is an amazing astronomical tool Ive used to locate objects identify objects I see in the night sky and also use it to help plan observing and aeroimaging sessions Its also come in handy as a visual aid where I was able to show friends the actual orbital alignment of the planets during this Summers VenusJupiter conjunction Its a fantastic app a must have for anyone interested in the night sky                 Amazing astro tool

Great app when it worked Just crashes on startup since last update latest iOS 8 on a 5s Hoping for a fix soon Update Delete and reinstall fixed whatever the problem was which must have been on my device Now back in business                 Great app with lots of detail

This App is a must for amateur astrophotographers There are a significant number of objects in the database and information such as coordinatesaltitudesand transit times make choosing an object easy Great for visual astronomers as well                 Nice App

Im not versed in astronomy and I can intuitively use it to connect with the heavens It seems well written as it works smoothly                 Beautiful and Robust

This is one of the best astronomy apps I have ever used It contains Sharpless catalogs which I frequently used image hydrogen Alpha objects it contains comet common names comets and The international space station I am using the plus version of this application and it is absolutely fantastic My favorite thing to do is dim the stars aim search the sky for deep sky objects that I have never image to before This application allows you to select these deep sky objects and it lists their name and location Before I used to Skyview pro I paid for it and about two years later it became a free app the entire time the app was a complete joke it could not hold a candle next to sky safari plus Sky safari pro seems pretty cool but I could not justify spending 40 on the app I am extremely happy with the performance of this app I plan to later purchase the WiFi control unit                 Why did i wait so long

IOS8 reports 228MB Surely there is a more efficient way to cut down memory use Im not sure all the features are necessary              Works great but a memory hog

SkySafari 4 Plus is an outstanding app with a massive object database and telescope control Its the best                 SkySafari 4 Plus

This app is state of the art in amateur astronomy circles Its visual presentation of the skies are great and its search functions are simple and effective Plus I found it intuitive to use with very little learning curve I use the plus version to control my scope via wifi and it works flawlessly with my 8SE                 State of the art

Loved this program until I installed IOS 8 on my Ipad mini The search feature does not work now just returns to the home screen I need the search to find DSOs to use for my telescope           Great program until IOS 8

This app contains a large number of objects including the latest discovered comets which helps me to locate these dark objects in the sky The telescope control would be useful if you use GoTo telescope                 Very useful

I am by no means an astronomer but I use Sky Safari Plus for finding objects in the sky identifying objects I see and general information like moon phases The images are spectacular and the aids for navigating the night sky are fantastic With the addition of time control I can reproduce past and preview future events I like this app so much I bought the desktop version as well                 Incredible reference for all experience levels

As an amateur astronomer of over 50 years this app is one of the best additions to my observing tools that Ive used In the field it quickly shows me what I can view and what will be coming into view as the night progresses As a teaching tool it is excellent making it easy to show what is in the current sky and where In the home it is a pleasure to explore the simulated night sky in the comfort of my armchair I highly recommend this app not only to experienced amateurs but to beginners Ed                 Great

I have a dozen astronomy apps and most are great programs that I have previously rated as 5 Start apps But Sky Safari Pro is by far the best of all the astronomy apps I have Easy to use very comprehensive and fun to use Well worth the price of a couple of astronomy magazines Buy it and read thru the help screens and you will never look back Truly a must buy for all astronomy fans                 If you are into astronomy you need this app
