Sparge Pal is the all-grain beer home brewer`s best friend. Based on the Mash & Sparge Calculator at http://www.brew365.com/mash_sparge_water_calculator.php This calculator will provide you with the correct volume and temperature at which to mash and sparge your grains ...
Awesome app love it One suggestion Have it save your settings So each time I brew I dont have to change evap rate and all the static items Then I could Just change grain size and be done Thanks              Great app 1 suggestion
Thanks to the creator of Sparge Pal for improvements to the app most notably the decimal point addition This makes the app much more useful and the fact that it is free remains remarkably generous              Improvements make this a great app
It doesnt exist anymore I had recipes on there that Ive lost now Your site also says theres a BrewPal 3 available on the App Store The App Store says it doesnt exist What the heck is going on           What happened to BrewPal
No decimal point     No decimal point
Sparge pal has been bang on for me Perhaps those who find the app useless do not consider variables like equipment loss etc No decimal is not great but not the end of the world Dividing by ten is pretty easy even for the math challenged              Bang on
I used the brew365 web version of this app last brew day I hit my target mash temp dead on Sparge pal brew pal is almost everything you need if you dont want to spend the money on Promash or Beersmith A few more additions and these apps would rival that software I have two other brew calculators on my phone One of which was 499 Im using Brew Pal and Sparge Pal the most Ways to improve it merge the two programs into one grain point values in Brew Pal which I believe is coming in an update and a way to formulate recipes save and export them somehow Something similar to a promash brew session reportyou add that and this app is worth Again a very nice job on both apps                 Handy and accurate
App crashes after 20 and 21 update Rebooted phone and no fix Uninstalled reinstalled and it still crashes Running app on iPhone 4 with iOS 401     Update Still Crashes App
This is crap Fails to start even after update and reinstall     POS
I saw several reviews blaming this app for inaccurate strike temps but I have had 100 accurate results Take your strike temp from the mash tun not the liquor tank You have to adjust for the drop in temperature your equipment may cause I go 10 degrees higher and after transfer the water is the correct temp or a degree too high so I wait a few before dough in I do not use the boil time feature                 If it doesnt work you are doing it wrong
I have been brewing about 20 years but have only been doing all grain for the last three The water amounts seem to be in line with my manual calculations but the strike water temps on this app like my own calculations seem to be a bit low Trying to attain a mash temp of 155 Degrees Fahrenheit resulted in a 143F mash I had to use corrective actions to adjust the mash temp This could be due to my particular setup though I would use it again just for the time savings in water volume calculation When I reached my wort volume the remaining OG in the mash tun was 1008 which was the right time to stop           Time Saver but not perfect
David fails to support the app and does not respond to requests to fix the decimal error     Still Broken
The lack of a decimal point in this makes it virtually useless Having to convert the measurements saves you no time over doing this on paper with the iPhone iPod basic calculator Not recommended     No decimal
doesnt do anything entered various sizes temps and times but nothing ever changes it does nothing     garbage
Works as expected and the adjustability is very useful Thanks                 Just what I needed
Have nailed my OG every time with this app awesome thanks                 Super handy
Works as advertised Nice graphics and usability Still usable even after taking advantage of my brewed product                 Nice simple app does what it says
I downloaded this app and noticed there was no way to add a decimal point Is this a bug The app is pretty useless without this        No decimal
Program was a gallon to a gallon and a half more than I needed on a ten gallon batch A was exactly a gallon over on my final outcome This gave me too light of beer I dont know why I need a program when I could just do the math in my head This showed me Deleting it     Brewer
but way off I would use this all the time But the calculations must be way off 9 gallons of water for a 55 gallon brew 12 lbs of grain Seems off           Close
Great app It really helps me get the right volumes of water down tight The only thing that is off is the strike temp for initial mash but thats only because it does not put in consideration of equipment temp After playing around with temperatures I found that heating up the water 5 degrees more than what the app suggests and I will reach my target temp              My brewing sidekick
Been waiting and waiting and waiting for the decimal point fix for way too long If you arent actively programming the app any longer pull it from the app store If you plan to fix it which I hope you do revise app description and tell us     Fix app or pull it
This app is useless Ive already deleted it     Pathetic
Great app for the most part I dont think the boiloff rate calculates correctly For a 5 gallon batch with a 60 minute boil there should be 1 gallon that is boiled off So preboil should be 6 gallons 16 166 or 166 I had to set this in the app to 7 to get an accurate sparge volume or else it calculates the sparge volume way too high Now that Im dialed in correctly I think the app will be useful and eliminates most of the hand calculating that Ive been doing           Boiloff rate doesnt seem to work out correctly
No Decimal Have we forgotten simple math If youre looking for a decimal in the tenth place multiply all your imputs by 10 then divid whatever outputs Sparge Pal gives you by 10 simply move the decimal places Example I want 35 gallon batch size 73 lbs grain bill 5 gallons trub loss 1 gallon equip loss leaving all other inputs at defaullt values I input 35 gallon batch size 73 lbs grain bill 5 gallons trub loss 10 gallons equip loss leaving all other inputs at default values The ouputs are 228 gallon mash 165F and 430 gallons 175F Divide the outputs by 10 to get 228 gallons mash 165F and 43 gallons fo sparge 175F Not difficult to overcome the lack of deciaml point Great app Very hand on brew day                 Using a Decimal
Downloaded v 20 it crashes when started Deleted reboot reinstalled Still doesnt run Deleted again IPhone 3GS     Fails to start
Would work out well if there was a decimal point option on the keyboardother than that works well        Need Decimal Point
You cant insert any decimals so the application is useless I dont think that I can strike 266 gallons and then mash 261 gallons My system may be inefficient but not that bad     No decimal useless
Where is the Decimal point Four stars when you add that     Brewer
This underestimates strike temps I undershot my mash temp by 10 degrees and had to do a mini decoction mash to get it up to a reasonable temp The batch will probably be fine but this added about an hour and a half to my brew day Will not use again Interface is fine would love this if the calculations were correct        Inaccurate strike temps
Useless without the decimal point     No decimal pt for calculations
Great Does anyone know of any other good homebrew apps                 Great app
