Gregorian Chant for the Masses Square Note puts a huge library of Gregorian Chant scores--over 600 unique chants and counting--right at your fingertips. Always wanted to learn how to read square note notation? Always wanted to ...
This is a very helpful app especially for not so musically inclined people such as myself I do have one request There was an app called iChant that was rendered useless by the latest iOS update It was basically like a little keyboard except for Gregorian chant You press the note and you hear what the note should sound like Could such a feature be added to this app It would really put this app over the top                     A very helpful app Aurelius X
I have said elsewhere that unfortunately using the 1908 GR is complicated Even between my 1936 Latin LU and a 1950s LU 800 or 802 4 one of those numbers is the English version of 800 I note critical differences such as replacing dots with the episema But this is very good I m still wondering why the Marian antiphons are not separated from other Marian chants And it would be helpful to have the Benedicamus Domino for the Masses which have them Even the PCED Ordo indicates it is to be used                 Very good klmfera
NB The Sundays of paschaltide are not enumerated the same way in the OF EF Today 30 April 2017 was the 2nd Sunday after Easter in the EF whereas it was the 3rd Sunday of Easter in the OF Please correct Fr Fromageot FSSP                 Adjustment needed Pulchravera1968
I especially like that the notes are played not sung The sung note and syllable are both highlighted at the same time which is very helpful I m sure one can get the pronunciation somewhere else especially if you are taking a class This will be perfect for practicing outside of class This is an app worth paying for                     Excellent majuscule
Thought it would be a sung chant     Thought it was a sung chant Disappointed Tuna0510
This app is perfect for practicing the chants for Sunday Mass Thanks so much for making it                     Awesome App MechanicaMan
The chant tone with its built in reverb does not suit my earphones Even using the iPad s speaker I have to turn the volume low Please offer an additional sound option something crisper I would also like to see English translations of each chant set apart from the music perhaps on the bottom of the page But thank you for publishing this app I suspect that many who are new to plainsong will find it very useful                 Good and helpful PTK_70
As one who attends both the Ordinary and Extraordinary forms the former also in Latin this app is most useful I like being able to reference the Propers and the Kyriale for the Commons                     Very useful ArsAstronautica
Perfect for a beginner will definitely use this for personal devotion                     Beautiful David de la torre
I love this app But one thing in the latest version makes it difficult to use The tone used for the chant is very smooth and velvety it sounds like crystal glass being rubbed High quality but I find that its overtones cause significant distortion when played on my new Air Pod earphones Even at 50 volume there is buzzing in the notes and I am afraid it will destroy my AirPods Please provide a choice of different types of chant tones             Great app chant tone is grating Rouxfus
It s obviously made by people who know what people who want to learn particular chants need It basically is the Graduale Romanum and Liber Usualis with midi files You can listen to any proper in OF or EF at any part of the chant in whatever key and at whatever tempo you want Really Helpful I wish I had this app when I was directing the gregorian chant schola back in seminary It s worth the 3                     6 stars when they add the Exultet KailoKwall
This is the app the Church has been waiting for Buy this app Fix the liturgy Fix the family Fix the culture So simple even your parish choir director can use it                     Masterfully done JJJohnson33
The chanting sound isn t so great It s very quiet a little distorted when changing pitches and has limited range when transposing Having alternate sounds and the ability to transpose into other octaves would be helpful Other than that it looks beautiful             Looks great could sound better SAVEthePAVAN
Excellent Beautiful Well rendered A very useful tool indeed The future of Gregorian chant Perhaps this will spur some discussion about the different resources we all use Obviously most of us are not singing straight from the LU every Sunday but an app like this begins to make Latin propers more accessible Of course pronunciation guides actual recordings interpretive differences etc are beyond the scope of this kind of app but that world is now suddenly accessible Imagine asking choristers to buy the app bring phones tablets to rehearsal and walking them through the material step by step Hats off to the Fathers Spencer                     Excellent tool Elizash246
