Syfy for iPad

I usually dont download apps like this because most of the time they dont add much of interest and the sync function doesnt work correctly This is not a bad app however The little clips of background information the videos it adds are actually quite interesting and do provide useful information particularly with sciencefiction shows like Defiance with its complex storyline Whats really nice is the sync function actually works even with a prerecorded show I rewound at several points and fast forwarded through the commercials and still it synced up The only thing that prevents me to keep me from giving this app five stars was the incessant nagging to play the Defiance game while watching the show There are some ads in the feed but I can put up with those I understand somebody has to sponsor the app and pay for the development but please remove the game nags              Adds Good Info To Show

I used to have the app but I deleted it before the update and when I had it it worked fine but might not anymore so cant rate well yet until Ive tried the updated version              Good

This app is lots of fun with my fav Syfy show FaceOff Theres lots of great backstage stuff polls and pics Butevery time the content includes a video the app crashes When you are using it on a repeat of the show which I thought was the coolest thing ever since I can only record two shows at once on my cable provider it often gets confused and invites you to click thru to different Syfy shows or different episodes of the one youre watching Needs a few bug fixes might not be ready for iOS8 but the fun is still worth it in my book Great idea kudos           Fun when it works

Wont even open says it needs an Internet connection and it has one Still wont open Deleted and reinstalled still wont work DELETED     Bad App

App becomes unresponsive and stops changing the Hue lights after a few minutes     Hue lights unresponsive

I was skeptical when I heard my Hue lights would react to 12 Monkeys But the effect is amazing SyFy needs to license this tech to any studio wishing to pay the price It has changed my expectations of watching TV                 I cant tell you how well the Hue function works

Why would anyone want to use this app And thanks for nothing on the video stream that you barely had on the previous app and will be getting to some day If I could give it a zero Id do it Downhill and thats saying something     Please what is this

I love love love syfy but this is a big waste of time and space I will be deleting it and hope they can bring back the shows I love If not oh well     Syncsink

Love the Hue Lights integration The fact that they have done it is already 5 start Its not perfect yet but Im sure it will get better and better                 Love the Hue Lights

Well I guess everythings got to go some direction this apps direction just happens to be going down in the sucky direction you still cant watch full shows on here and really with the new update you can only watch about five mins of 45 different shows bummer think I might have to delete this app     Ugh

The lights flashed every once in a while but I never could figure out how far ahead or behind the actual action it was When watching Sharknado 2 live I think the lights were flashing about 30 seconds early which doesnt make much sense Oh well it was an interesting concept and would have been cool if it worked well        Hue sync didnt work well at all

All TV should be moving to this addition As should movies and video games Philips Hue is a game changer and thanks to SyFy for doing this                 Awesome

Had to delete Signed in with verizon fios information keeps giving error message you do not have permission to access requested resource when I try to play full episodes Same issue with syfy now     Does not work

I have tried to sigh on but it tells me that they could not find my comcast as a provider Im getting rid of this app     Will not let me sign on

The idea is totally cool and Ill probably still use it to geek out with But the timing is sporadic so throws off the affect           Neat idea but flaky

Update 724 Dont the developers test their changes Rhetorical question to which the answer can be found in the subtitle of the latest Sharknado movie Hell no Busted again They did something on the server side to hawk the Sharknado movies and broke the sync for Defiance and the other shows The last developer on one of my teams that pulled a stunt like this ended up on six months supervised probation every line of code and every config change had to be reviewed and signed off by a senior developer Unfortunately stupidity like this is fairly typical for this app Update 1213 The developers did something on 1211 that has totally disabled this app The logo screen comes up then it does a fade to a white screen after which it crashes immediately Werent the changes tested before they went live rhetorical question Guys there ARE established testing protocols and procedures out there see the ISO 9xxx series Standards thatll help prevent this sort of nonsense Rating reduced to 14 of 1 of 1 star The latest update now called Syfy Sync reduced the content enormously Now you can only view the sync info from a limited set of seasons for five shows Face Off Defiance Warehouse 13 Being Human and Haven All of the previous content for all other current and previous shows is gone as are the schedule videos photos Syfy twitter Syfy store and even feedback I used the sync function in the old app and enjoyed it I also enjoyed reviewing the photo and video sets and background info for other shows Reducing the apps functionality and content so massively was what do they call it an incredibly boneheaded idea If you havent updated DONT 12 of 1 of 1 star     Syfy Sync update a huge disappointment

Have you ever stopped to wonder the percentage of apps that simply dont work Anyway add this to the list As payback I wont watch the show     Another not ready program dumped on the App Store

The light track feature is exactly the sort of technology I hoped would eventually exist when I bought the Hue lighting system and I hope it becomes commonplace with movies TV So I must say I am quite disappointed I can not get it to work as promised with this app My lights synced with the app indicated by flashing but they do nothing after that Fired up Sharknado on netflix started the movie at a decent volume had the app running the lights didnt as much as flicker for the first 10 minutes so I aborted the mission hoped to fix it I looked around the settings but found no solutions If this worked Id be giving it 5 stars Ill give you 2 for trying        Hue light sync

This is awful I got the app back when version 20 was out and recently got it again huge disappointment I am a huge fan of FaceOff so I deleted it after the season was over I do watch other shows but that was the only one I used sync on I am glad it was one of the few that stayed but I dont like the new setup or the fact even if I WANTED to sync with my other shows I cant It does not sync in timing with the shows I am watching FaceOff its halfway through the episode still no sync available You know what I say GO BACK TO 20 Even if you do too bad the thing you worked so hard to make commercials and popups for is not on my iPad     Disgusted

This app seriously needs work As far as I can tell its pretty much useless for the most part All of the sections for a show are empty The notifications never clear and there is nothing working except the home screen Useless     Needs work

I use a 1st generation iPad and cannot upgrade beyond iOS 51 and I had removed last seasons Sync version as part of a system cleanup figuring Id just reinstall the latest before the new season began right WRONG Because the new version requires iOS 6 Sync is a thing of the past for me And as much as I enjoy FaceOff Im not buying a new iPad just so I can reSync I had used Sync for the last two seasons and aside from the crashes which yes were rather frequent I still felt it had potential and found the content interesting and amusing to continue trying it The Twitter integration was convenient although I tend to avoid allowing access across apps Bottom line Ill miss The Sync experience but can still watch my show and Tweet if I feel the urge so I think this is more your loss SyFy     SyfySync WAS fun

Super fun to watch tv with hue syncing I keep my phone on the table between me and the TV so I dont actually interact with my phone during the show Love it when the lights go on during commercials its like an intermission              Great fun works great with hue

If you have a Hue system it is worth a try Ill admit I couldnt make it through Sharknado but we are trying Sharknado 2 for family movie night tomorrow The sync is off mine flashes red before blood splatters the screen ruining the surprise If this had a slider to adjust the lights sync to the movies Id give it 5 stars           Neat gimmick

Depending on what you think of SyFy programming Hue sync either enhances it or or mercifully distracts your attention from it Kudos to SyFy for being an early adopter Fourth star is for effort the other three for Hue and Sharknados 1 2              Hue Sync Best Thing About 12 Monkeys

Was excited to download this app however it never downloaded to my phone In the App Store it says open but when pressed nothing happens Wanted this badly to work because Im a huge Face Off fan     So sad Downloaded it and nothing happened

You can watch all faceoff episodes because it seems like thats what its all about                 Cool

I enjoyed having this paired to my Hue while watching Sharknado 2 but I agree with the other reviews The sync seemed to be a bit off I hope you guys can sort this out and make it work for next time Please do this with more SyFy network premieres Im looking forward to updates           Good idea

I loved watching 12 Monkeys with the Hue sync It was really cool What a great idea It needs a little tweaking the flashy time travel moments were a little off apart from that it was great More more more Everything on TV should have a Hue sync              Love the Hue Sync

Meh I wanted it to be so much more Problems The lights are almost random they dont react to the tv like I expected You have to keep the app open and your screen on You cant turn your screen of and have it running in the background like it should be able too I just expected more        I wanted it to be so much more

Deleted this app as it is now only a sync app with 5 shows Thanks Syfy for screwing up your app When you replace it with the app it used to be I might download it again     Worthless

Truly and utterly useless     Review

I really enjoyed the hue sync experience It needs some polish I would love to identify to the app where the lights are relative to the tv in front left right behind to really up the experience but who knows maybe thats on the way Nice job              Good start sync

I dont use sync never will but I have enjoyed the SyFy app It is now gone Thank scifi I want to give no stars but it wont let me     Why oh why

No amount of fiddling got this working for my hue setup try harder     Nope

App does not remember hue light settings I have to reselect the correct lights every time and you cant use your phone while lights are being synced so for the entire hour during a show you cant check texts or do anything that takes you away from the app or sync stops working no backgrounding multitasking allowed     Developers must be idiots

The Sync is completely unstable moving forward or back through the episode unpredictablyand uncontrollably The Sync drops repeatedly making for an unpleasant experience Only the content makes it worth trying to use           Since the Update Awful

Seriously syfy Whats the point No full episodes and no catch up for missed movies or series Somebody spent time on building this and convinced syfy that it was a worthwhile product It was either the greatest pitch in the world or syfy management arent bothered about what the put out for their consumers Lame     Just a waste of everybodys time
