Sounds are not bad soundcloud record is handy                 Plugged in my midi keyboard works great

Its one of the best Yamaha app for iOS Im having so much fun with it highly recommended Thank you Yamaha                 Very cool app I like it

As one would expect from Yamaha A brilliant full featured start only to get sweeter as the app matures Bravo Yamaha                 Oh boy

Then audio copy into other apps So you dont have to dock to iTunes Its bug brother the red app downloads too but that app takes up twice the space Sound quality of instruments is slightly better than ok but starts to sound better after rotating those built in fx dials                 Taking up only 100 mb of space this app can really download soundcloud

New update v120 did NOT fix this issue The problem remains Cant find any other place to contact Yamaha There is a problem with this app After I use it and exit out it kills the system sounds on the iPad The keyboard clicks camera clicks plugin charging beep sleep and awake clicks all quit working The only fix is to do a full device reset Who makes an app you cant use     Problem Report update v120

If you like dance music and have even a little creativity and keyboard synth know how then this app will blow you away So fun We plug it into the car stereo and I rock it on the way to clubs after parties the grocery store etc we havent been able to put it down Best 4 I ever spent Thanks to Yamaha and the space alien employees that invented this barn burner of an iPad app                 Techno Bliss

This is for real Its loaded with some great tricks and treats to help move any groove off dead center and inspire new ideas It could have a little more detail in the manual about recording procedures but some patience and trial and error produced good results in about 10 minutes A way to stitch multi patterns into a complex song would be nice but there are many ways to overcome this The price is right and the value endless keep upgrades coming with new features and this app will become the number one dream machine Thanks Yamaha development teamlove all your products A true first class company                 Wow

Some nice patterns to spark creativity pretty nice sounding presets that can be slightly modifed worth downloading for sure                 Its Free and sounds Nice

Good need fixing With audio bus its a problem And another thing the could be better than this if they added some more features     Need update audiobus fix

I picked this app up on a whim It probably the first groovebox I had fun playing but it is not perfect yet First the good Good sound decent effects good choice of arpeggios fair usability If you want something that can provide quick and dirty accompaniment for inspiration this app can be your go to guy The bad 1 The app suffers from the Yamaha Style of hardware design If you ever used Yamaha gear you know what I am talking about Yamaha committed to a certain design for every one of their pro musical products some 30 years ago and for some reason they refuse investigate or improve on usability in order to maintain that style It is not that their style is bad UI it is bad design Some things are very obvious but things our downright baffling until you read the documentation 2 There are obvious shortcomings to the app A No easy way to switch patterns so there is no way to build up more complex songs See more on Drum Pads below B No way to easy way to redo a recording like erasing what is on a track Yes you can immediately undo but you cant really rerecord something after you have been working on other parts C Programming the drum pad for new soundschords is not easy It could be easily fixed if there was a dedicated trackchannel select per pad like there there is on the arp page In fact it just seems that the drum pad are underutilized It could be so easy to have multi pads available for every channel in the same way the keyboard is or to trigger different songpatterns D No audio recording or exporting via audio paste or similar I am very mixed about this app Having used hardware grooveboxes and software in the past I have never been happy with those because of the UI design Yamaha seems to be going in the right direction with improving general groovebox UI design that this app is the first I feel like I am having fun with creating grooves instead of intimidated That said the app does have some serious limitation and missing features that does not really take it pass the realm of fancy music toy If Yamaha continues to support and develop the app and makes a couple UI changes it could be a great app to use on stage Unfortunately Yamaha does not really have a great track record of that type of continued improvement once an app is released           Far from perfect but not terrible either

There are a few interesting concepts at work but when all is said and done the app is no more than an auto accompaniment keyboard with a simple MIDI looping sequencer and a handful of Motif sounds There are only 5 slots for sequences and no method for chaining the patterns to create a performance Without a mixer or a mute switch for the individual parts an arrangement cannot be performed on the fly Yamaha uses a hardware analogy for the layout which results in ugly screens that are a cluttered mess It takes one too many button presses to perform simple tasks Its a disposable app and is priced accordingly but I expected more from a company with their pedigree        Interesting ideas extremely poor implementation

I really miss my old Motif ESthat being said Yamaha has really been consistent releasing quality well built apps on the iPad It is evident they are taking the platform seriously and it is nice they have expanded upon their well conceived and solidly programmed control apps with the addition of this Not too much longer I am looking forward to full synth programmability in this environment and a graphical sequencing tab This app affirms that Yamaha is committed to iPad development                 Yamaha has it going on

This app is quite versatile and the sounds are really good I really like the layout and possibilities with the drum pads in particular The ability to latch a roll and play with the time signature and velocity for every stroke can create some really cinematic drum line parts Highly recommended at the going price                 Hidden Gem

This app is not very good There are no instructions It is easy to make an arp but other than that it is lackluster The drum machine is extremely weak I was quite exited to see this app and purchased it the release date Since then it has never inspired me Ok at best overall a fail from Yamaha        Disappoiment

I love this app and was glad when it was updated for IOS 8 I have noticed a bug though When its in the first nut slot of Audiobus the and buttons for tempo do not work                 Tempo

That this has not been done already is just as disturbing as it is sickening None of these apps are cheap They need to preform corectly bottom line And if you think I got your money hahaha Think again Anyone can decide at anytime once you stop supporting an app with certain features they paid for to a refund through the customer service if they still have the original ireceipt Keep your receipts people     All your apps need the audiobus sdk update

pretty impressive stuff But I want to use it to feed MIDI into a DAW or just use the built in keyboard to place other apps because its pretty good too However Ive found it keeps stopping its MIDI output when used with audio bus in the first slot to save the setup and have DAW controls MIDI Clock sync in is wobbly too Though that could be anyones fault              So close

Everything is nice but the only problem with this app you cant save your project you can only save the mixed down audio                 Nice app totally free no ads

I really liked this app at first I need an app like this for live performance Having a keysynth sound going to a MIDI controller and being able to play drum pads with other sounds on the iPad is great Only one BIG problem I can only transpose on the iPad The keysynth sound going to my MIDI controller stays at standard tuning Play the keys on the iPad and they ARE being transposed But not the sound being sent to my MIDI controller This doesnt make sense to me Fix this issue and I will give 5 star rating and make this app my exclusive live performance app Thanks for reading        Needs work

this app plays yamahas dated arpeggios on the weak builtin synth and drums or to your MIDIcapable apps or to softwarehardware synths via WiFi or MIDI cables if you have the gear and knowhow but the app store has better midi controllers the builtin synth GM sounds arent very tweakable and need lots of EQ and compression to be usable in todays music the best use for this app is for creating arps and weak beats to chop up and reassemble in other much cooler apps its pricey and the icon in the app store makes it look like a toy but luckily you can change the color scheme this app is a relic from the time when everyone thought you needed a motiftritonfantom to make good dance music owners of those synths will feel at home here but for the rest of us times have changed yamaha and roland should check out korgs iMS20 and other apps to see how to correctly repurpose old software for todays producers EDIT spent a lot of time with this app feel like ive paid 399 to betatest this so here goes 1 need a visual cue during playback to tell you which channel is being triggered when 2 the ability to pan each part would be nice 3 songs should save the program change CC for the internal synth with the option to prevent transmitting that info over MIDI out 4 a program change remapping routine would be nice for when we DO want to xmit that info 5 sequences created on the pads appear to be a 16th note ahead of the arp and MIDI recorder 6 shd be able to export MIDI file and audio too though the builtin synth is mostly a mere sketch pad 7 songs should play back at the same timing they were recrded at 8 yamaha needs a moderated forum to hear and respond to buyers feedback as if that will ever happen 9 the manual should explain not just what each function is but how to use it this app has potential but yamaha must be better about spelling out why and HOW ppl can use it     too little too late

This app has good potential but becomes disappointing after a few uses Selecting a new arpeggio pattern is easier than a new synth sound Most of the synth tones sound like a thinreedy square wave I guess I should have already known this since this is made by Yamaha Interesting synth tones dont really seem to be their focus I like the modulation button but it would be nice to able to choose the rate and depth There are three categories for effects The effects are variation chorus and reverb Only reverb seems to actually work Until you navigate down into the general settings menu and assign the chorus rate to the slider I still havent figured out how to get the variation effect to work The drum machine pads also have good potential but the convoluted programing method dampens my creative flow When programing a pad you select the tone from a keyboard Instead of auditioning each unlabeled tone you are now assigning multi layered tones to one pad This becomes a tedious process of selecting a tone and then pressing an X to remove the tone from the pad On a positive note the drum tones are interesting Also each pad can have a left and right side to it You can also assign an arpeggio pattern to the pad but this will override the split side option and viseverse If I could make some changes to this app I would switch the arp menu with the tone matrix I am still not sure why onthefly arp selection is more desirable over onthefly tone selection I would replace the scale menu with effects control I would also like for the drum machine to have a pull down menu for tone selection instead of a keyboard Being able to shape each drum tone would also allow a user to craft an unique kit Get this app if you want to have a frustrating experience or if you are a Yamaha completist        Should be better
