I ve been eyeing this for a few years now and I really wish I had grabbed it a long time ago This has really been great for learning how to pick out the qualities of a synth sound so you can remake it or one like it Definitely worth every penny and they keep adding things every year For anyone on the fence about the price the 129 IS NOT just for this app It gets you the iPad version the Mac PC version a VST of the tutorial synth you re learning on AND they ve added extra lessons for applying the learning directly to Sylenth1 Z3TA 2 and the Moog Voyager an extra 4 GB of tutorials on their own and no extra charge                     Great product and not just an app Deimo

In the available free lessons I didn t learn all that much I ve learned that on my own about sound synthesis using synthesizers so I personally can t see risking spending 129 on the package And you don t have to learn physics to learn synthesizer programming Using that word implies way more brain work than really is needed It s all about sound so of course you do it ultimately by listening and practice and experimenting and most importantly having fun more than anything I think it would have been better if you could buy the lessons you need Based on the free lessons I imagine there might be 80 worth of information in the locked lessons I would benefit from For the absolute beginner and if you have 129 to burn it might be for you             Too expensive for many novice Eriptron

This is one of the first reviews I have ever written and I felt compelled to do so out of gratitude for everything Syntorial has taught me Learning synthesis is the type of undertaking that can become dry frustrating and unnecessarily time consuming when left with reading watching videos or with complete trial and error The step by step application of the concepts in Syntorial makes the process infinitely more engaging and manageable An example of what you can expect in a module such as delay or LFO a short video explaining what each knob does and how they interact a series of progressive challenges where you adjust these knobs to match a hidden sound a short review quiz and a Group challenge combining everything you ve learned up until that point These Group challenges get tougher as you progress but are very satisfying to complete It is implemented in a fun and addictive manner complete with a scoring system for each challenge When finished you will have a much better idea of what that particular modification does and how to replicate it by ear Lessons have a nice mix of technical jargon and laymen s terms to help you understand what they are talking about Some are easy some are more difficult but with a little patience you will begin to notice the nuances involved I started the program as a complete beginner and after a few weeks I have created a bunch of my own patches from scratch that I am incredibly pleased with The best part is that I arrived at these parameters intentionally not by randomly twisting knobs and hoping for the best In addition Syntorial has made it easy to take a complex preset and know exactly how to tweak it to your liking again without randomly twisting knobs The cost for the full version is certainly an investment but in retrospect I believe the program is worth well more than the asking price Thankfully you have the demo to try and see for yourself It is an awesome addition that they include lesson packs for popular synths to help incorporate this information without an addition cost This includes hours of videos on Moog Voyager Z3ta 2 and the Beta stage of a Sylenth1 lesson pack so it is nice to see that they are continually putting out new material In conclusion if you are searching for the best practical enjoyable hands on method for learning synthesis click download you have already found exactly what you are looking for                     You won t find anything better JPacker555
