The Tarascon Hospital Medicine is an evidence-based, point-of-care compact reference book for the busy clinician to use on the hospital wards or in the ICU. The Tarascon Hospital Medicine app is part of the popular ...
Needs to be optimized for iPad The low resolution on iPad is irritating Otherwise it is quite useful           MD
I am a Hospitalist and wanted a handy and quick reference and this works nicely A very large amount of information is squeezed into this app that has a small footprint takes little memory I love the History section as well as being able to make bookmarks The Table of Contents is well done and works Searching is really terrible Using the Search Icon bottom left of the app I cannot search for pancreatitis rather I have to either search for acute conditions and then scan down to the entry or use the table of contents Searching for seizures takes me to a table of the Etiologies of Delirium Searching myocardial infarctions takes me to a table for compelling indication but the title of the table is cut off Searching epileptic seizures causes Message Error 1218 Tables at least the Ransons Criteria appear to be scanned making the text look fuzzy but still readable When reading about a disease or symptom it would be very useful to be able to have an arrow or finger swipe that would allow me to go to the next section down or up on the disease as currently if I am reading about Acute Diarrhea there are 5 subsections and I have to return to the Acute Diarrhea page to select the next section to read This is version 100 and I hope they quickly fix searching the index and allow me to navigate the subsections more quickly              Nice information but searching the index needs a lot of work
Hi Please port my this account to Droid please I just sent ya an email regarding this as it makes no sense to pay twice and I am not gonna use this app on iPhone no more Thanks                 Port this account to my Droid please
    Quick but shortmanagement           IMresidentKS
Same as always another true it knows what you are looking for quick reference from Dr Esherick Most common encounters in the ICU and medicine floors right as you open starting with Code Algorithms at the very top Lots of simple and clear charts Updated clinical information Automatic App updates Nice layouts and not cramped As you open the app the most common topics encountered are listed As you click on each topic into each folders and subfolders the names of those are listed on the top of every page So if you need to retrieve any information you opened you can simply click the link on top of the page Under the tool section there are plenty of figures and tables of uptodate algorithms and pictures They also have very intuitive breakdowns of differential diagnoses and blurbs of what to look for and how to approach treatments along with figures and charts linked directly on that specific page The way the menues are designed resemble closely to the flow of clinical decision making It is difficult to get lost while navigating this app Well designed Tothepoint answers to common questions A definite helpful tool in aid of your clinical decision making Intuitive                 Fast right to the point reference at your fingertips
Its a Good program but it needs updtae ESP new ACLS guidelines It also needs more improvement in search option              Good program
Definitely an app worth downloading Tarascon Hospital Medicine is so well organized and easy to use for doctors on the go in the hospital All of the most common diagnoses encountered in the hospital and the ICU are welldocumented and clearly outlined in terms of diagnosis and clinical management There are many easytouse tables and algorithms which makes it easy to apply to everyday life on the medicine wards Any doctor taking care of inpatients should highly consider buying this app and benefit from the new udpates as medicine continues to evolve                 Tarascon Hospital Medicine is a must
This application is evidenced based and well organized It loads quickly and is comprehensive With this application epocrates and a few medical calculators I have every resource needed to care for hospitalized patients This app is ideal for residents and other physicians who care for hospitalized patients on a regular basis If you need ONE resource that is current and complete this is it                 Best Resource for Hospital Based Medicine
This little pocketbook is an excellent quick reference for hospital medicine I am a family medicine resident and when I am on our busy inpatient service I rely on this book frequently to help me review a topic briefly and make efficient decisions Every time I refer to it I am impressed and surprised by the amount of practical information with differentials clinical risk predictors validated decisionmaking algorithms management guidelines practical pointers updated references etc As noted by another reviewer the index needs some work although I am almost always able to find what I am looking for quickly through the table of contents I also agree that it would be nice to be able to flip from one section to the next under a topic without having to go back to the main section A few of the sections I have encountered have very little text on the page requiring one to flip through multiple pages to find information and a few of the tables are broken down into text requiring flipping through multiple pages to find information eg Tables 24 25 rather than scanned in my preference But I think all of these shortcomings are minor and should be easily corrected with a second edition Overall highly recommended              Great quick reference
read it anywhere any room any time of day Even while watching Scrubs just dont forget to buy it BTW great customer support                 must have as reference or just pleasure reading
I have the pocket book version and when I saw this app I was thrilled one less book in my white coat You definitely want this with you if you practice hospital medicine It is amazingly comprehensive yet free of nonessentials It also has a critical care section with all the must know topics Very uptodate and evidence based If I could give it 10 stars I would                 S Kang MD
I have carried around a version of Dr Eshericks book since I was an intern with a white coat full of books His was the only one I have continued to carry around as an attending Having this available on the iPhone allowed me to round book free The iPhone version is great as it allows me to quickly find the reference material Im looking for I am still amazed by the volume of information he was able to pack into a small book and now a small low priced app                 I Got rid of the last book in my pocket
Not worth the 20 when there are 99 apps that are far better more concise more informative and easier to retrieve I regret buying this Dont make the same mistake        20 vs 099
I have an old IM CC pocketbook that I wanted to replace with a phone app so I got this Unfortunately this app is poorly formatted for a mobile app Very amateurish Also Im not finding some very basic tables that I would expect like the hyponatremia table Other tables are kinda nonsense like why are criteria for transudates and exudates on two separate tables This should be laid out side by side Really a disappointment Id expect this lack of quality in a 099 app     Not worth 20
As with the pocketbook manuals this app brings up to date clinical information to your fingertips Well organized and easy to use reference for hospitalists residents and medical students Highly recommended                 Excellent pocket resource
Not worth 20 when you can get the same info in a 099 app What is missing from this app in comparison to the Internal MedicineCritical Care Pocketbook purple book is all of the diagrams and practical information such as temporary pacing vent setup IABP setup and troubleshooting and much more I was a diehard Tarascon supporter to the point that I ensured that all of the staff in our cath lab were issued the purple book and had it in their pockets at all times So my read on the app is this Tarascon is riding on their reputation but only used materials that were easily cutpaste to app form The best materials are left out Shame on you Tarascon        Not the purple book by a long shot
This app is a compendium of useful information for the hospitalbased physician The organization is simple and content can be found easily using the Search tool I give it only 3 stars because the interface needs to be improved for the iPad Tables are very small and do not make good use of the iPad screen resolution Although you can zoom in the text becomes uncomfortably pixelated The content is thin and lacks depth Given the available screen real estate additional useful information could be included that would add depth to the presentation There are no links for cross referencing For example a table may state see page 39 for more information but there is no link to take the reader to page 39 Lastly the cost of the app seems too high for the content delivered           Lacks content and does not use iPad screen size well
