I thought this small app would be part of my subscription to The Economist but it s not It has very little content and costs more than many apps that offer significantly more value Very disappointing from a respected name like The Economist Disappointing love2fly
The year of data is in the center of screen meaning the eye must jump from the left to see the data name then to the right of screen to see the amount Why stick the year in between Display problem Retired in Asheville
It seems to have forgotten that I paid for it It s like the vending machine ate my 7 I feel cheated thefish185
The free version is lame so I paid for the auto renewal premium option It was okay for a year and I let the auto renewal happen Then a month later premium quit working and I could find no way to get the app to recognize that I d paid my renewal I sent an email to The Economist asking for help and after a month still no reply So I m deleting the app and hoping I can figure out how to keep The Economist from charging me next year which I m sure they will try to do Too bad zero stars not an option TJJ99
This is a nice app I find the trivia part addictive but wish it would provide the correct answer when I get one wrong I know ideally I d look it up but i feel like I d need to keep a notepad to quickly write down each question or screenshot each one Answers Karl blah blah
Love this quick reference guide to all sorts of facts comes in handy quite frequently Awesome Appman5605
Commits you to an in app subscription automatically even when you have not used the app in more than 9 months Does not seek confirmation of subscription Complaint Mojisola Akpojiyovbi
Please update data more frequently certain data are from 2013 Also your Nov 2016 software update broke the ranking functionality so it does not display the lists anymore Thank you Infrequent Data Updates jmatsuoka
It would be really helpful if the FactQuest game showed the correct answer and even better the correct statistics when you get an answer wrong I enjoy the game as a convenient way of learning with morning coffee before bed in spare minutes before class etc and this would greatly increase its educational value Also some of the questions need proofreading Thanks Convenient Tool To Have Slawles
Pretty cool app but was very disappointed on the question of Mexico currency being the Mexican Dollar I am mexican and the currency is the Mexican PESO Inaccurate info Ricardo Mintaudon
INFORMATIVE FANTASTIC Gene Alden
Hi all i have a question about factquest Can i take a look or save the quiz with correct answer after each quiz If it is possible i would like buy it 5 99 per a year Question Sukhbold
I ve subscribed to the economist for years I love having all of these random facts and statistics at my finger tips The fact quest is also a ton of fun One minor suggest to make the app perfect show me the right answer in fact quest if I m wrong I may not know who s got the fastest agriculture growth sector between Guatemala Nicuargua and El Salvador but I d like to once I get it wrong Great App Great idea 2damax
Despite being registered with the Economist as a subscriber this app requires an additional registration It s unseemly unnecessary and frustrating to ask such a thing for no apparent reason I refuse Need additional registration marcuslaughter
Not too bad but I wish the quiz game showed the answer to incorrect responses Decent app Gilmour1516
When you download this app you automatically choose to renew this subscription No way to cancel your subscription Don t waste your money Piece of junk Adexpic
No way to cancel an auto renewing overpriced app The functionality gets old after one use and once you check in you can never leave Lousy app TooManyFigures
Impossible to figure out how to cancel this service I highly recommend against purchasing this service given that the cancellation of the subscription is a mystery Subscription cancellation mystery Not made of $$$
No way to cancel after entering free trial No way to cancel trial period AIFIVE
Repeating the criticism that this is an app that offers a free trial but gives you no obvious way even in the subscriptions setting menu to cancel before they apply a charge Definitely not worth paying for when the information is perfectly easy to find on basic Internet Scam app mariluetta
The app has lots of information mostly pertaining to economy of countries Since there is plenty good I won t dig into that too much but rather write about a few annoyances 1 First I simply wanted to try out the app without the intention to purchase it but at the end of the month of trial I found out there was no easy way unsubscribe button or something of backing out So I ended up paying for it There are many other apps out there just as good for free or much less Granted the ranking criteria and possibility to customize rankings is a plus for this app But I didn t intend to purchase the thing For this extra mess this app gets a star less 2 A real fun though is the Factquest game but I wish it would be tweaked a little it must include the right answer in the case that the wrong answer was selected It s frustrating to select a wrong answer and receive a red X with no further explanation oh ya it must have been Brazil or well it could have been China Who knows I wish there would be many more lives It s frustrating that it allows only 3 mistakes before the game is over Maybe there could be a learning version of the game where one wouldn t be cut off if making mistakes 3 While the app shines in the country economy criteria it is pitifully poor regarding other country data such as geography maps population etc There are much more complete apps out there One less star here 4 The Country Profiles Profile Overview has very brief information could be more like country gdp gdp per person population etc And also it doesn t help so much to know that a certain country s gdp is this sum of rubles or yens or whatever figures are of course much easier to relate to Otherwise great Good but could use a little improvement Athoti
Not a fan and cannot figure out how to unsubscribe Fan SuperMissMel
I ve been looking for something like this It is great for gaining insights and learning new things The only problem is that it needs support for iPhone 6 6 plus resolution It d be great if it added new features and new kinds of data too Overall great app I recommend Great app Vieux_Frere
Excellent app Fun Educational Travelisme
Like Trivia Crack for the walking encyclopedias of the world Best App on the App Store MG12008
Those who actually collect work with or casually enjoy economic data points knows your team needs to offer a trial period A couple hours would suffice This price is cheap for a normally expensive data class which makes me doubt how rich the quality would be I can scrape or text mine any web sites that have offering comparable information Why should we users blindly throw away a few hard earned dollars for this app Motivate us folks at The Economist You obviously don t need the money but you definitely to engage a younger audience that leverages mobile data Think about tomorrow s revenues today Disappointing Stonc024
My favorite part of this application is fact quest After you play it a couple dozen times it won t allow play it again and directs you to play it online Disappointed Nicolas I

It s a neat and interesting idea I saw an ad for this in the magazine I m a paying subscriber and immediately downloaded it I rarely download new apps so quickly However it was very hard for me to fall in love with it since the free feature set is so incredibly limited I can look up the population of Denmark 5 6 million but anything beyond that the app wants me to cough up money and I don t even know what I will get Could I at least get a free month to try it A discount rate perhaps for being an at least quasi loyal subscriber to the magazine In short the idea is great But because the app fails to deliver any value to me out of the gate I ve already given up Deleted How am I supposed to fall in love Mathias Jakobsen, NYC
This app and the advanced extension for graphing etc do not work on iPhone 6 plus You just get stuck in an endless sign in loop Pathetic waste of money Endless loop Forestkiwi
I am rather disappointed by the content in premier version paid The additional benefit seem to be the chart maker and maybe something else I have not discovered I purchased the premier edition because I want to know how the rankings and scope are defined Without which the ranking is rather meaningless and there is no way to reconcile The Economist s ranking from other Lacking in definitions and it worth the money Chicbean
Excellent Informative and fun However needs a better index and a way to learn the correct answers Economist app Omar5710
This app supplies stale data I expect better from The Economist I immediately canceled Economist Subscriber JScottStonehocker
It requires subscription to view any detail info Do not update ĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺĺ诜
I find that this app and the Economist since this app is a representation of the publication lacks humanitarian empathy No stats on Gaza Palestine sending a bias message Big supporter of Economist content bias aside but it would be nice to at least have the stats for this region Biased statistics ManVsPizza
It s too outdated You only have info on Argentina up to 2011 our economy is terrible and inflation sooooo high Your app should show that Come on guys belu.russo
Religion has become so important Your app should reflect that Also need religious wars and acts of Muslim terror per country Professor of international politics ret Prof. Eric
Best app out there Keep the good work guys No words beatrizlaver
Why No us stats HS Sam
Big potential hope criticisms are taken seriously and a revision released soon Sponsor must hate the ragged edges Update Mr. Wren
App seems stable and easy to navigate but the data are wrong and internally inconsistent in a number of places e g One of the trivia facts says that Italian women have the world s 6th lowest life expectancy It s sixth highest Also data are missing in other places eg largest banks by market cap no data You get what you pay for A lot of data are incorrect or missing RJH64
All The Economist has is its brand so it s surprising to see such a weak offering with their name on it The country lists are woefully incomplete the sort function may or may not work there are no maps at all and many lists are simply blank like largest cities for example The trivia feature was obviously an after thought This app is much worse than simply using Wikipedia The Economist better wake up JayPizzl
Great app Should also include maps that show bordering nations The Economist World Figures john gaus

No so relevant Good start I guess Good for 3rd grade

They have great stuff Sometimes the title of the data item gets cut off and it is tough to tell what you are seeing Not bad

I like it Great
When is a new version coming This one cuts names and text regions fields are wrong and has many other obvious flaws App needs lots of work
Nice concept but this is a joke to have mostly 2008 data in a 2011 app Its useless I can find much better and updated data with a few clicks on the web The Economist should be ashamed at trying to pass off repackaged stale data like this 99 cents or free its still a disappointment Dont waste your money More of a history book
This app is a total waste of money All the information is outdated 2008 Furthermore the compare tool works for certain countries only Dont buy it IThere should be some refund policy not for the value 099 but for the principle Deleted it after 10 minutes Very nice app if you are stuck in 2008 cant seem to get out
The interactive charts in the compare tool are really cool and the trivia is random and funny Definitely worth the 99 cents Great app for playing with and visualizing world data
This app supplies stale data I expect better from The Economist I immediately canceled Economist Subscriber
Long time subscriber to the hard copy Very disappointed in the app financial well almost all Data from 2008 Economist World Figures
It is a very nice and useful app if you want that sort of information The only problem is that some of the data are two or three years old Retired prof
This has nothing to do with their 2011 yearbook Most numbers are from 2008 and even older The data are not always marked clearly and there are occassional errors The interface is very amature Shame on you the Economist Dont waste your dollar on this Not worth even a cent Big dissappointment
Almost all of the factsdata in this application is outdated It wouldve been much more informative and useful if they actually used relevant facts from 2011 Data is just no longer relevant
I dont understand how such large players in the media game could come out with such a garbage app Poor design Poor organization I could have missed it but also there is no way to enlarge to full screen so the display area is tiny and you need to keep scrolling all over the place Yes you can double the viewing area but that just doubles the font size The end result you can only view six or seven lines of a list at a time Oh theres a sloppy built in feature that displays lists in bar graph format if you rotate the screen to landscape mode The problem is the programmers put the feature in on every list So for example looking at the spaceflight mission list in landscape mode you see rows of meaningless bar graphs and the years of missions eg 1957 appear with commas in them eg 1957 I also just tried the public debt info and no numbers are displayed at all in portrait mode Very sloppy The little print book is much better Very dissapointing I really wish i could get a refund Waste of an app
Useless as most of the data is years out of date I am deleting it Out if date
Why No us stats
Great app Should also include maps that show bordering nations The Economist World Figures
this publication in print is always one of the most fun books to rifle through randomlythe perfect book for the privy having an eedition wranking comparison search as well as the expectation of more and more current data fed live from the web was exciting enough to think about giving up competitive Scrabbletm on the crapper Sadly this 1st version only shows some promise on search comparison and rank The data is old and not complete across all countries Also most unforgiveable font size is not adjustable up or down and text that is too long cannot be scrolled or even clicked into to read Provenance and better data descriptions would be very useful as well disappointing
Waiting for an update The information here is valuable But from the programming standpoint needs more work More correlations graphs easy access trivia not a priority can make of this application a real HIT Aiming to the right target but needs work
This app and the advanced extension for graphing etc do not work on iPhone 6 plus You just get stuck in an endless sign in loop Pathetic waste of money Endless loop
I am giving points for general structure and design But the economist is a thorough publication that should have a properly referenced cited and scaled units of measurement I have owned the pocket paper forms and it tells me what units and what kind of info is related No reference
I like the app but all the stats are out of date Terribly disappointing 2011 edition but 2008 statistics
My favorite part of this application is factquest After you play it a couple dozen times it wont allow play it again and directs you to play it online Disappointed
For example the US has the lowest level of brain drain with 6 6 what Some of the data is needlessly out of date US unemployment is noted as 5 2008 data is woefully misleading there Now that the Wolfram Alpha app is out anyone can get up to date comparison information on their phone instantaneously this app is guaranteed to be out of date and unnecessary in comparison Desperately needs more units
I am rather disappointed by the content in premier version paid The additional benefit seem to be the chart maker and maybe something else I have not discovered I purchased the premier edition because I want to know how the rankings and scope are defined Without which the ranking is rather meaningless and there is no way to reconcile The Economists ranking from other Lacking in definitions and it worth the money
Love the economist Ive subscribed for ages Hate the app Waste of moneyeven 99c
Dear Sir What happened the figures are outdated Why even sell this You should be ashamed of yourself Sincerely Sad and perplexed Sadly Wikipedia is more useful
Big potential hope criticisms are taken seriously and a revision released soon Sponsor must hate the ragged edges Update
I expected so much more from the economist Really
If you know whos the 50th or last an you can understand why theyre better or worse off along with other stats that you may find useless then you can actually analyze and make policies along with it I do
Has potential but largely out of date and useless Should be called the world in 2008
I really like the application altough some data is indeed outdated However FB sharing is downright impossible By default all data eg the first 20 countries based on Tax Wedge is copied as a status update FB limits the length of such an update well below the length of the copied text If one wanted to post it she would have to delete 34 of it which is a royal pain on a mobile device Apparently this feature was not tested at all Facebook sharing a joke
Excellent Informative and fun However needs a better index and a way to learn the correct answers Economist app
A waste Who cares if Guinea is the 32nd highest producer of widgets This app misses the point of being relevant and interesting Mundane
Best app out there Keep the good work guys No words
Badly programmed But good vision Expect upgrade Wish could be improved
Does anyone really care if Columbia is the worlds 50th biggest emitter of carbon dioxide Worthless trivia
Great potential but in this age there is no excuse for there outdated data in most categories Census data only comes every decade but most data turns over much more rapidly There really isnt an excuse for this It makes no sense why the economist would do this Fantastic potential
I just hope were paying for all future ones too I dont want to have paid 99 for something I have to buy again next year For that matter why cant Economist subscribers get this for free I get the print edition in thy way It needs more stuff more units and more updated data A lot of info is not from 2011 which is a waste Many things have no unit so I dont know what many numbers represent Lastly it needs more info For example how about literacy rates and energy consumption or pollution in tons Very cool
The bulk of the data is 2008 Dont buy it Apple needs to create a returns policy Rubbish rip off
