Have new iPad and two accounts of which one is a gift subscription for 30 years and PD will not let me read e edition and tells me my account is active and then freezes up From looking at all the complaints on this page and PD wanting to eliminate the print version they do not seem to care Worst newspaper app ever ccole34120
Pretty buggy often can t find the WiFi connection everything else works fine most time cannot load a whole page And it s a blurry mess when you zoom in Terrible but it s the only way to read the paper Mess bw2151

You would think a company in an industry fighting for its life would make sure its technology actually works Time and time again this app crashes won t load a particular issue or has articles so blurry they can t be read It s ridiculous Completely unreliable Vic in Cleveland
I have not experienced the issues others point out here but I would add three other annoyances I have been using this app for at least a couple of years There are functional issues which appear quite obvious to me but seems that the developer doesn t I don t like the large spaces between an article which continues on another page in the paper but leaves a large gap when reading the text view of the article The gap that appears doesn t respond to touch so careful finger placement is needed to navigate to the top of the text appearing below the gap in order to slide the screen and continue reading the article When finished with an article in the text reader the app returns you to the first page of that section of the newspaper This is very unnatural as I am accustomed to reading an article on a page and then returning to that page not jumping to another page and then having to navigate back to where I was The last huge annoyance is returning to the app after pausing for anything else that happens in life only to open the app and wait while it reloads the current issue starting on page A1 When I read a newspaper and finish an article I usually leave the page open to continue where I left off A SIMPLE BOOKMARK OPTION WOULD BE NICE Question is does the developer ever use this app to read the newspaper Two stars one for the minimum and one because I use the app ArtfromDon
Since the upgrade you can no longer open any editions How can they publish an app that completely stops working I ll give it two week before I cancel my subscription No longer works abusedcross
Reading epaper Bug appears when an article image is rendered as opposed to the text For example comics and Terry Troy Automotive I find I have to kill off the app and restart it to correct the rendering problem One additional unrelated problem when asking for login I frequently copy paste my user name and password The Plain Dealer app is the only app I have seen that doesn t maintain my login id when I exit the app to copy my password Can t read blurry articles ShellyFromOhio

Last week the brain trust at the PD upgraded their much loved App Subscribers were sent an email with a notification and a link to a 15 page PDF user guide for the upgrade Someone forgot to do a quality control check because the App upgrade did not work The ever friendly help desk customer services specialist says that the only workaround is to delete the App and reinstall it Really I didn t get that email or see that workaround in the 15 page guide Plain dealer going from bad to worse App Upgrade Really clevelandPDugh
A few weeks ago the PD sent an email about an update blah blah blah Since then several times a week both of us in this household have to enter our password and user ID email Sometimes that gets us to the digital version and sometimes it doesn t Often it is a repeating cycle of frustration as the app tries to get me to pay via iTunes when actually I have paid for the next two months on the PD website with a credit card A phone rep confirmed this and I have an emailed receipt This is beyond frustrating and most of the tech support is terrible One person was very direct and helpful but chances of getting that one again are slight Then today I tried the customer service text option and was left hanging on that interface as well The upshot of that encounter was the rep had never heard of my repeated logging in problem If it were only me I d cancel in a heartbeat but someone likes Cleveland sports so we continue slogging along Do something Terrible tech support catlady4
This program kludgy at best will not open Any edition for third time in past week Plain Dealer publisher takes money and hires a third rate developer to produce the app No accident app offers no way to complain directly to paper about this amateurish app Broken again Rosenfeld of Berea
Once again Today the paper will no load off line It s the only way to get the PD on non delivery days What s the story PD And I would love a setting to go directly to print edition I have no interest in the media tile version And sometimes when I am reading the paper it pops back to the media edition and I have to start all over Seriously Again ohio_trvlgrl
April 2017 Crashes ALL the time Doesn t even save a page you re reading if you come back you have to re enter the entire paper We are screwed here in Cleveland as they only publish hard copy 4 days a week So we are stuck with this crummy app May 13 2016 Friday is this their idea of a Friday the 13th joke No Friday issue I deleted and reinstalled app but no dice Guess I ll have to resort to reading my husbands hard copy Ha Ha thanks PD On my new iPad pro I enjoyed reading the PD but this morning it required a new sign in which took a good half hour then the PD appeared in a smaller format which was not user friendly to say the least I sent the PD awful feedback then deleted and reinstalled the app which brought it back to the former format To the PD people if it ain t broke don t fix it Yuk AWFUL musikluvr1

The e edition reads well with decent navigation Memory is a problem however The app bloats to almost 1gb over time so I have to constantly uninstall and reinstall Good but memory hog Smelvis
Go to read todays paper and the entire comics section is missing It seems at least once a week some page or another isnt scanned in or omitted from the E edition Get it together This is a horrible app other papers are much better Ironic that you cant report problems directly to the PD from the app Horrible
It is glitchy poorly and cheaply executed rarely updated in any meaningful fashion and the folks who are responsible for it could not possibly care any less about the user It is about undertaking the least possible effort so the publisher can claim it offers an app Skip the paper skip the app pray daily that the publisher sells the paper to someone who wants to run a real newspaper and will pay real money for a real app App Just Like the Paper
I love the idea of the digital newspaper but this new App gives way too many reasons to hate it The app is hard to use crashes frequently several times per newspaper many of the buttons dont work properly I could just go on and on Hire a new developer or be ready to go out of business App is awful

After multiple uses I have not gotten it to stay open without crashing more than 510 minutes at a time It flickers stalls and is very slow This is a subscription ending app if there ever was one So bad that one suspects there must be a conspiracy to make you hate it Update after a few weeks it is even worse I opened it 6 times today and it crashed with 60 seconds each time Its all but useless Beyond awful but getting worse

Ive had this app now for several months and Ive really tried to keep an open mind about the service change with the PD The app is clunky to say the least Even with good wifi it takes a long to load crashes frequently and is un useable if youve downloaded the latest edition and heaven forbid want to look at it offline The combination of very poor quality app and limited delivery we are a home delivery subscriber is to much Im going to cancel the home delivery and delete the app Much better news is available from FlipBoard and the Beacon Journal Maybe the worst Appservice ever

A very poor app I will AGAIN be signing up to try to get my daily paper I got the paper yesterday and last week after signing up twice but today it again doesnt work Its now telling me I have no subscription I have been a subscriber since 1973 If they decide to go digital they need to make sure it worksALL the time This is the last chance Im about to cancel my subscription and switch to our local paper and the Wall Street JournalDisgusted All I want is my daily paper

The app constantly crashes at least 34 times per reading When you try to move through the pages it becomes blurry You have to zoom out and zoom back in To make matters worse it will go from blurry fine blurry fine while there is no movement on the screen The constant password and user name entering finally doesnt prompt every time you open the app But dont click on the wrong selection Bam You have to enter your password Thinking about giving it up really not worth 60 every 3 months Fed Up

The Plain Dealer better improve this app soon or I am canceling my subscription I only read the PD on my iPad and this is the glitchiest reader app I have come across by far My two biggest complaints is that the app shuts down on its own 23 times for each issue I read and when I zoom in to read an article the letters go blurry every few seconds then clears up then goes blurry again Not worth 20month at all Worst reader app ever
Im not sure why some of the other reviews are so negative The app does what its supposed to It would be a nice improvement to be able to tap on an article and have it open up similar to how the Reader function in Safari works instead of just zooming in Other news apps work similarly to that but they dont maintain the newspaper layout which is a nice feature with this app Works great

The app to read the subscription paper on the 4 days per week when it is not delivered is a bad joke It usually crashes at least twice before I give up on it each day When it is working it is as slow as molasses and half the time it brings up unreadable outoffocus text on some items Zero interactive content and no dynamic updates of contentfor example nothing on the OSU championship win the day after the game Awful app and I am paying a lot for it

How many years have they had to improve this App after the disastrous rollout of the digital edition Frequent glitches mystery log outs and blurred print If you forget your password it does not even give an option for resetting it If anyone at the PD reads this review perhaps they will consider fixing that Agreed Worst Reader App Ever
This app works well on my iPad Air It does crash infrequently but for the most part I enjoy it Each day the paper is there when I open the app in full vivid color Its not perfect and still needs some work For those complaining it might be your device since Ive noticed it doesnt work as well on other devices in my house Not bad
This new Plain Dealer is so bad I dont know where to start Sometimes it works and sometimes its extremely slow loading and eventually I get frustrated and turn it off Sometimes the photos are too blurry to read and I turn it off Sometimes only partial text appears and I turn it off Maybe I should just never turn it on Way to go Plain Dealer Its a sometimes app
There is a pop up that comes before the paper launches and you cannot get to the paper Come on PD I purchased the PD because I like the paper and liked the app until the pop up for wayside wont let me advance to the app and I cant contact development Please fix and test before putting the app or pop ups out Pop up is killing this app
The new version is AWFUL It crashes almost every time I open it Even when I hard close and open from scratch I open the daily version at home and then when I try to read it offline parts of the paper are blurry When I get back to wiif the blur goes away Gonna look for a different paper New version issues

I used to read the online version as a real newspaper without using the reading pane With this update thats now impossible since each page of the viewing window consists of two full pages of the actual newspaper Please allow viewing preferences And the app still crashes constantly Update took a step back
I am stunned by how lousy this app is I have had to deal with long holds on customer service to learn I should not sign up through iTunes but thru the pd site There is no indication of this I had to jump thru hoops to get the iTunes refund and then paid the pd and still cant access it without the stupid rewards screen that doesnt take my correct password So my husband went and bought a paper edition that was about 6 pages of crap and still didnt have the indians score Ridiculous Stunned also

As the paper paper winds down and competition for online news outlets increases it is unthinkable that a respected newspaper would launch an app so frustrating so nonintuitive that it makes this longtime subscriber want to cut all ties Fix it asap Sad
What choice do we have since the PD made the ridiculous move to stop daily home delivery This app does what it wants and can be quite frustrating considering canceling the whole subscription Mind of its own

They updated the app and now it is completely unusable Before it was clunky but usable Now it is just a piece of junk Biggest part of the update is to sell user registration information to third parties New update makes this completely unusable
