The Sacramento Bee for the iPad

Ive had this ap for quite some time now It used to work ok I had occasional days when the paper was not available until afternoon but now every Sunday the download is so slow that I cant even read the paper Last Sunday I had to walk to the corner store to buy the paper version This Sunday the same story Not sure if the host company doesnt have the bandwidth to handle it Something has to change or Im going to cancel all together     Sundays SLOW Sundays

Signed up for a digital subscription online at home Downloaded this app and found there was no way to sign in unless you subscribed through iTunes with your Apple ID Whats the point of a digital subscription if you cant access it through the papers own app After reading some of the other reviews being forced to access the paper through Safari may be a blessing in disguise Dont waste your time with this app     Terrible

I recently got a Groupon deal to get the Sac Bee but I cant log in on this app All you can do is buy a one month or one year subscription via iTunes Why cant you sign in with your Bee account This app is so clear to read and easy to navigate Fix the options to sign in take it beyond the iTunes only and I will up my rating to five stars        Only 2 Options equals

Its been nearly two weeks since I upgraded to IOS 8 and the app still doesnt work Press error bad reply when I attempt to confirm Im an existing iTunes subscriber I really want to support the Bee but come on     IOS 8 Has Crashed App

They broke something For the smaller papers MondaySaturday it works fine But now the Sunday paper is unreadable using this app It takes forever to download and then once its downloaded takes MINUTES to go from page to page I love having the newspaper format so I dont have to point and click but it needs to be fast Unfortunately they broke something I would have given this five stars if it was still working One more week of this and Ill probably cancel it     This app used to work reasonably well but

I have been reading the bee with my iPad for several months It is great set up just like the paper so no mystery about finding things It is easy to go anywhere in the paper This is why I got an iPad to read the paper my magazines and books all in one handy device Good job Sac Bee              Lynn

Only the front page works on my IPad I have been a Bee subscriber for years but it is useless to me if the IPad app does not work In contrast when I am on Zite every app works fine If this is not fixed I will cancel my subscription     Only front page works

This app needs a lot of work Half the time it will not download and just hangs Either that or it will time out before a complete paper is downloaded Until The Sacramento Bee gets serious about digital editions and finds an App Vendor who can actually write a decent App dont waste your time     Lame

I wanted an electronic subscription to the Sacramento Bee But this app is not how to do it It runs through Press which manages the subscription But even though I have repeatedly shown my subscription receipt they continue to deny I have a receipt I called the Bee about it and they said we cannot do anything and then transferred me to Press after a 25 minute on hold I finally hung up in frustration Avoid this ripoff app     If zero were possible I would choose it

Come on guys update and fix the issues that are occurring Last two Sunday editions lock up but all other days work fine All I want to do is read my paper can you please give me what I paid for           Great app when working

Monsat editions are great Sunday paper never loads Contacted bee 3 times no response     Never on Sunday

Sometimes this app works and when it does its great However it often doesnt work and there are no refunds for undelivered papers Be wary                 Dont buy this app

that the Bee is charging regular subscribers for this New York Times and others include online access at no additional charge Shameshame     Outrageous

By keeping the format identical to the print edition the Bee has ensured that I wont be using this app The loading of the different sections of a story is just too jerky on my ipad2 to be readable If theyd dropped the newspaper convention of starting a story on the front page then continuing it later Id work with it for example keep the current format but make clicking on a story bring up the entire thing in a form that renders smoothly as you scroll As it is now its a pain on my eyes and it took me all of two minutes of trying to read before I quit and deleted the app     Doesnt take good advantage of digital media

Take a look at the NY times app if you want to see a newspaper well formatted for the screen It flows gracefully The sacbee does not It is clunky It is not particularly fun or easy to read I find myself skipping over articles because I dont want to zoom in to see the headlines Please reformat the app so it is a good iPad experience           Its ok

I had my monthly subscription renewed and now I cant get to the front pagewhen i select the Go to my options the logo isnt there to select to download and get the paper I already didnt care for this app but this may be it for me        Cant get the paper

Frustrating lately because it wont turn a page or zoom Used to work well but more and more problems        Keeps freezing

This app is very frustrating its been very glitchy lately The font for the articles is blurry when you zoom in on an article Today I cant even read the paper because the font isnt clear when you zoom in Not sure if its worth what Im paying     App is too glitchy

I am so disappointed in this paper When I read that it was exactly Like the home paper I subscribed for a year The type is so small on the headings you cannot read it So you dont know if you want to read the article It needs to be in landscape view instead of portrait and only one page showing at a time and be able to scroll up and down and with print on the headings you can read When you read the paper at home you fold the paper so you are looking at 1 page at a time     The Sacramento Bee

This app has not worked for many months yet my inapp purchase history indicates expenses of 88 App support did not address my issues and customer service led to a 404 page It appears I have no recourse and am perpetually paying for a nonfunctioning app     This app is designed to drain your bank account

I love getting the paper delivered directly to my iPad When it works it is very convenient and easy to use Unfortunately I have had some of the same difficulties as others Sunday papers are often not there or will not open completely and there is no customer service to help resolve issues           Great app when it works

Ive been a Bee paper subscriber for 14 years before canceling my subscription recently due to delivery issues and too many trips away from home I had looked into subscribing to the iPad version a year ago or so but it was really poor Several months Ive given it a try again after noticing that it had been updated I cannot be more impressed The navigation was seamless all articles can be easily read all the information from the printed version can be accessed in a way even easier than the printed version It downloads very quickly and I can start reading even before it is fully downloaded The full version is available and reads perfectly on my new iPad I can read it like a regular paper going from one page to the next or pick a section directly through the specially designed menu Once dowloaded I can read it on the plane ie even without an Internet connection No more missed delivery wet paper and the subscriptions cost is 14 that of the paper version Ive shown it to a friend on the east coast and he was truly impressed This convinced him to purchase a New iPad I havent had any issues yet with renewing my subscription If I ever do a bit of work to get it fixed is well worth it considering the quality of this app Only on one occasion has my newspaper not been available a likelihood much lower than all the issues I had repeatedly with the paper format I highly recommend it                 Absolutely great

It requires us to verify our subscription then hangs up saying it cannot contact Press We have requested assistance and gotten no response The ap says readers can continue their iPad subscription to The Bee for 599 a month which is what wed like to do We really dont want to pay 799 a month which seems to be the change concurrent with the issues we are now having Over the last few years there have been many issues with this subscription every time they make a change I think and little to no support Theyre real good at collecting our though     Cannot access The Bee for weeks now

Ive had no issues with this app I had the paper delivered for years and to be able to get it on my ipad is awesome I would recommend it to everyone                 Great app

I to got locked out and they the bee would not even return my calls to try and figure out what the problem was Fortunately I had previously backed up my apps to my iTunes on the PC so I just deleted the app from the iPad and then reinstalled the previous version from the PC Now it still tells me I have an upgrade but I aint doing it Got my paper back and hope they fix their update soon Lots of people gonna cancel that auto renew subscription if they cant get what they pay for     What a sucky upgrade

So the ability to read the local paper online has been around for years and now all of a sudden you are charging for it I may now just have to cancel my paper copy of the Bee in addition to deleting the app Hows that for your price gouging idea So I had to delete it reinstall them redelete after writing this review     Not worth a penny

I downloaded the upgrade and then it said I had to reactivate my subscription When I select that it just generates an internal communication error I cannot access my subscription Edit now it says there are no options available I purchased a one year subscription and cant access it now              Locked out

Overall Ive been very happy with the Sac Bee eEdition But lately I download for offline reading and when Im out of WiFi range and expecting to be able to read articles I get an error message that says I need to download Later back in WiFi range the download is showing even though I already fully downloaded the days paper I hit the download again and nothing happens except the download disappears I exit the paper come back to it later and the download has reappeared              Fix This

I am fine with this app when it works properly which is about 9095 of the time The rest of the time it is very frustrating to not be able to read the paper Ive paid for One problem is that sometimes the app seems to load the paper properly but it apparently hasnt loaded everything in full resolution When I tap to read a story in these cases I just get blurry unreadable text A worse problem is that sometimes the app simply freezes and wont load some of the paper at all at any resolution Id like to think this is just a server temporarily busy problem but it is now nearly 10 PM on Sunday evening and Ive been trying to load the Sunday paper all day at various times and all with the same result It wont load past page 11 and some of the pages that have loaded wont zoom when I tap them so they cant be read Please Bee Id like to see you survive I appreciate the reporting you do but you really cant expect even those who are pulling for you like me to put up with this sort of incompetence We all know that the physical paper medium is going away This app represents your chance to bridge the digital divide chasm and survive into the future So far you are blowing it and my patience does have limits     Unreliable

Been using this app for over two years Its never been improved or upgraded Of all my Apple apps this is the kludgiest Slow starting Freezes regularly Downloading for offline reading rarely works smoothly And the Olive Software folks are always quick to blame the users network or equipment The only way to get the comics online iPad and to have the look feel of the real newspaper Very frustrating     Garbage

For the second weekend the Sunday paper will not load Some pages are OK but the front page and about 12 the others show a loading bar and never finish Bee do you check your own app     Broken again for Sunday

I saw the lack of stars but didnt read the reviews I subscribed for a full year It worked well for a week Unfortunately I having some of the same problems reported Todays edition didnt load Uninstalledreinstalled as recommended by the Bee This didnt correct the problem I recommend you wait     Word to the wise

Ive been using the app for about six months and fortunately have not had the lockout problems noted by others I do love have the Bee online instead of wrestling with the bulky paper copy The format is annoying at times The touch the article function doesnt always work especially the attempts to return to the page view I also dont like the skinny columns I also have the free New York Times top news app which presents the articles full screen with a simple touchmuch better format I wish the Bee would adopt this format The other problem with the Bee app is that at times the print will not focus when enlarged I am using an iPad 2 so I dont know if this is a problem with the app or with the iPad but I do not have this happen with any other newspaper or book version So all in all the Bee app is good but not great           Pretty Good So Far

I wasnt locked out but after the upgrade I have to login every day and sometimes while reading it just pops up a login screen which requires me to enter my user ID and password 23 times a day Im really surprised there hasnt been an upgrade because this has been going on for several months now Every once in a while I cant get the newspaper but it has only happened twice in several months Annoying Come on Bee Fix your issues           Generally good but requires annoying login after upgrade

After a ridiculous amount of time getting this App set up and working it is working just fine for me It took a couple of weeks of getting used to not having the physical paper in my hands but as a long time Sac Bee reader it has been an easy transition The app opens each morning in a few seconds with the paper displayed and ready to read The tabs across the top make it easy to find what I want to read I save about 15 per month off of home delivery prices and best of all I dont have to walk out to the driveway to get my newspaper on these cold winter mornings I suggest that any current newspaper subscribers give this app a try for a month while you still are receiving home delivery It probably will take awhile to get used to reading the paper on the IPad but once you do you will not go back to the traditional newspaper              It Works for Me

The app has stopped working and there is absolutely no support to help fix the problem Canceling the subscription is also extremely difficult so be prepared to pay to unsubscribe Stay far away from this app and the eversions of the Sacramento Bee     Do not use this app

This app was fine up till yesterday now I cant get todays paper that I paid for Looking at the other reviews sounds like the upgrade locked most people out SacBee needs to get this fixed or refund everybodys money back News reports say they are loosing the daily paper delivery because of online subscriptions Is this a ploy to get back their home delivery clients        What Happened

When it works its pretty nice But it tends to lock up at odd times However the biggest issue is the Sunday paper For at least the last month Ive not been abble to read the Sunday paper on line It takes about 3 minutes for each page turn I know this is not my problem alone as Ive talked to several other people who say they are about to drop their subscription if it doesnt get solved Sadly I may join them which I hate to say as Ive read the Bee for more than 50 years        This app drives me nuts

I paid 599 for a month subscription for the Eedition of the Sac Bee in the first week of Oct and we have had more problems and nonreading days than we have had good days At first I thought how nice it would be to read the paper while we were out of townWRONG It would not let me sign on for a two week period while using free WiFi and I thought maybe that was the problem WRONG again upon our return home we cant read the paper either I keep getting a NETWORK ERROR Unable to communicate with Press to verify purchase Why Internal Server Error Well now thats a lot of help isnt it Ill never ever think of subscribing to this again and Ill forewarn others to just save their money In fact what Id like is my money back as we were able to read far less eissues than we were able to read What a scam Sac Bee     MOST WORTHLESS APP EVER
