Pricey yes but it was worth it Over the two weeks my new wife and I spent in Italy this thing only lead us down the wrong path once and quickly corrected itself It gave great directions and by adding all our hotels to favorites in advance of the trip it was very easy to travel to each destination The only reason I knocked a star off is because the voices dont pronounce Italian street names or cities very well So the voice will tell you to turn right towards a town but you wont really be able to understand what the town name is because the voice kind of assumes English pronunciation For example Firenze is pronounced normally like feer enz ey but the app voice says fire enz Overall Id recommend it to anyone traveling in Italy              A worthwhile investment for our trip
Perfect for a trip to Tuscany including small towns Very helpful roundabout instructions able to find parking garages nearby etc You cant go wrong with this one And data use is limited to GPS as the maps are included                 Excellent Nav app for Italy
Led us down a gravel road to a dead end in someones yard Directions consistently differ from road signs Look and feel amateurish compared to Google maps     Dangerously bad directions
Just returned from Italy where we used TomTom Italy extensively to navigate from Rome to Umbria and all over Umbria for 14 days We also bought the TomTom Car kit a necessity After three days we learned that navigation in Italy requires two peoples full attention The driver must observe wellmarked destination signs The navigator must watch the TomTom hooked up to the car kit to transmit intelligent instructions to the driver Freeway forks are especially challenging often placed around blind corners Listening to a TomTom voice resulted in many wrong turns Hairpin turns are all designated turns confusing when the route is to follow on road but where another intersects near such a turn The toll booth onramps and exits on and off the A1 Autostrada were all incorrectly designated as roundabouts One set of roundabout instructions cost us a 40 km detour Around old cities many forks were designated and turns and vice versa Street signs were essential in those situations Initially the most frustrating feature was that our Home destination a rental villa was not on TomToms address list We compensated by using the nearest house number than TomTom would accept That would have given us reasonable confidence if the route preview worked better It apparently works in real time so if youre a three hour drive from your destination a Route Preview of 3 hours is useless Instead we used Google Earth All in all over the course of the trip we found that the TomTom was about 90 right The funniest mistake occurred using Home to find a return route to Umbria near Perugia from Tuscany Because TomTom described our rental villa as on an unpaved road I deselected Avoid unpaved roads as a route option Big mistake Although I had selected Fastest Route TomTom directed us onto a steep onelane dirt road that after 15 minutes became so narrow steep and deeply rutted we lurched a halt and sent one of the kids up the hill to reconnoiter Ten minutes later he returned no paving in sight We backtracked TomTom Italy was good enough that I bought TomTom USA              Turn off the sound and its about 90 on the mark
Great app Supplemented my cars TomTom on 17 day trip to Sicily Preplanning is available to save time and the you can look for POIs near route or destination Use this extensively for walking in Catania Palermo Erice Cefalù etc and found it worked very well Since it does NOT need cellular data abroad to navigate it is very economical to use I have no complaints Next year I will leave the regular TomTom at home and just use the IPhone IPad app                 TomTom Italia
This app requires that the iPhone must NOT be in airplane mode as the iPhone GPS is disabled when the iPhone is airplane mode Unfortunately most travelers from the US will disable their iPhone cellular function by using airplane mode to prevent extremely high international roaming fees for calls text messages and data Consequently the app will fail to function Unfortunately for me I did not discover this until I was in Italy I talked with Erany at TomTom customer service and they acknowledge this issue yet refuse to refund the purchase because the app was purchased through Apple Apple has a no refund policy and refers me back to the developer So I have paid 6499 for a useless app The app does appear to be a good app and good value but the developer TomTom should have clearly documented on app store that the app REQUIRES THE IPHONE TO NOT BE IN AIRPLANE MODE One star for poor and inadequate documentation as well as unsatisfactory customer service     Tomtom Italy
This app does not work Please refund my money back as I have used it to purchase a Garmin map update     Does not work
