Tree ID - TreeID with Fall Foliage

Go ahead make fun of me for REALLY wanting a tree identification app I downloaded this one when it was still free but Id probably pay for it There is a ton here              I was looking for something like this

As a horticulturist I can spot a good plant app based on the accuracy and usefulness of its data and its content This app presents in a very concise and useful manner tree identification information which has the Audubon Tree Guide beat The reason I am giving this app 4 stars rather than 5 is because the range of inclusion isnt very broad Like another reviewer said it doesnt include many trees endemic to Florida as well as the Southeast Id imagine this is also the issue with western trees              Best Tree ID app yet

WONT EVEN DOWLOAD WHEN IT SAYS ITS DOWNLOADED     Stupid

Crashes on start up Author will not reply or fix problem The only thing worse than the program is the company Shiny Medl who took the money and ran     Axe man

Works well However it doesnt always give results stating no result found especially when using a lot of tree characteristics Therefore I am forced to start over and keep it more simple forcing me to do a lot of sifting though possible trees to find the correct ID For the experienced user this dichotomous key works wonders but may be difficult for the layman to use              Best dichotomous key ap out there so far

Tried to identify a black cherry tree and a choose your own adventure found on Google worked better Save your coin friend     This didnt work

Pretty good app but why is the Golden Raintree not included              Golden Raintree

Running iOS 401 with no problemsno crashes Im sure an update to resolve any issues is coming but as I am not experiencing any problems I would suggest deleting and reinstalling via iTunes                 No problems here

So far I have found it is missing the Carolina silverbell Really good app though              Missing

What about searching by bark type Also if you dont know what type of leaf palmate etc its pretty tough to use And it doesnt have Japanese Maples Are you kidding me I want my money back     soso if you know what your looking for

While there is plenty of useful information assembled here the apps actual main focus namely to identify a tree doesnt work very well Each time you have to fill out a long questionnaire about leaf and fruit characteristics but often you get no results if your input does not match perfectly So thats a little frustrating If you dont have a fruit for example or you mislabel one characteristic you should still be able to get some sort of approximation        Needs improvement

A lot of great information Very useful and handy but missing a few trees native to areas However its free so the product FAR exceeds the cost              Great for the cost

Cant get it to work even once           Update on 84 crashes without starting

If you by chance need any random information on trees this is a great source that has everything in one spot                 Solid tree app

This app find every tree in the northeast I have searched for so far Very easy to use but does crash sometimes              Underestimated

For the common folk that doesnt know what any of the options mean this app is useless There should be a picture to show an example of each option Other than that its a nice looking app thats why I gave it 5 stars just because its useless to me and most people doesnt mean its useless to everyoneits just more difficult to use                 Its nice BUT

The photos and descriptions are great but there just isnt a large enough database I tried to identify several treeseven trees that I knew their namesand none were listed in the database I dont find this app very helpful More trees and adding spring flowers would greatly improve it           Not very thorough

The updates cause the app not to work     Does not work

Everytime there is an update the app crashes at start up This is the third time I have deleted and downloaded this app but unlike the last two times it still is not working The information is good but useless if you cannot get to it        Crash Issue

The update 8410 makes the entire program crash at startup NO response from author I sent all the requested information about my iPod Touch 2 Try AUDUBON TREES to learn about the trees     STILL DOES NOT LOAD

I believe this is truly one of the best apps Ive bought but it could be a little bit cheaper              Greatbut

Very disappointed Too many trees which commonly grow around here in northern california are missingeucalyptus olive dawn redwoodnot there No citrus no fig no Ca black walnutFor a tree enthusiast the app is extremely limited First i thought many trees were missing because they are not nativebut i see many non endemic species in the east are includedAt least it was free        Not really great

It is difficult to fully explain how much info this app contains The indexfind feature is slow but only because it offers so many options To be honest my favorite use is just browsing through the lists of treesits like looking through a field guide or almost In some ways it contains more info as its got more closeup pics per type of tree leaves bark fruitnut etc than most paper field guides include Bottom line no its not perfect but obviously very well thought out and very powerful I am baffled by the poor reviews its gottenthe functionality seems to be the best out there Id give it a 4 or 45 stars for the lengthy search function but I feel compelled to balance out the bad reviews Well worth three bucks or whatever the audobahn guide is going for these days Again not perfect but by far the best choice as of now Pics alone are worth it                 Not perfect but an incredibly powerful tool

Launching this app causes Music to stop playing           unfriendly

I love the taste of trees This app helps me identify the tree of my taste buds dreamsit even provides a picture and scientific name so i know exactly what my happy little tongue is in for                 All bark and all bite

The search engine worked well with the right criteria entered it produced the correct results for two test searches However if you dont know what the questions mean youre probably NOT a redneck and therefore need to study your botany              No problems

Cool idea bad execution     Hard to use

This app needs much more development as it lacks a huge number of common trees Also the tree id function is not very user friendly I tried numerous times on several trees but this app returned no results The hand sketches are pretty mickey mouse Not worth the time even if it were free     Does not identify much of anything

I cant even begin to imagine the work that went into building this app So many pictures with accurate descriptions Flowers bark fruit whole trees cones and the list goes on If you cant identify a tree using this app then the problem is you and not the app Thank you for making this app free                 Wow Incredible app

Latest app wont run on 3G phone running version 3 iOS Database isnt very extensive and searches are frequently fruitless     Update crashes mediocre app when it does work

Yep mine started crashing upon startup after the last update What a piece     Crash

I am dying to start using it but I have downloaded it three times and whenever I click on the icon to start it crashes It seems I am not the only one having this problem     Please get this app to work

Far too technical for the average user doesnt include explanations or photos of various scientific descriptors needed to search the database ie is the leave shape ovate or obovate A silhouetted image would help here Also the descriptors are too exclusive For example selecting a leaf size of 225 inches may exclude the proper result because the database characterizes it as a 3 leaf Incorporate camera recognition for us dummies and this app will be a blowaway hit        Waste of

Too many selections filled out in Search by Criteria gives No results found Works best by using only two or three selections in the case of Eastern Red Cedar I could only use one criteria fruit color to get it to come up This is a great app Best one available Could be really handy for land surveyors I look forward to improving my dendrology skills Many thanks to the creators                 Two thumbs up

Kept returning to the store looking for a good tree app and kept being discouraged by the reviews for all of them and my own experience with the free sample version of Audubons Finally downloaded this one because it seemed outside the reviews to be the closest to what I was looking for for the most reasonable cost I am not having the problems people are listing It has not crashed it displays both nonFall and Fall foliage if it does have the latter for a given tree and the identification options work pretty well if you use them carefully Moreover at least in comparison to Audubons free sample and the charming but limited North Woods guide there are more photographs and information for each tree Would like app to not make the bingbingbing sound when it displays the MEDL logo when it starts up a region that was more clearly inclusive of where I live western PA Cant tell if north atlantic or midAtlantic is more apt and from experiments with your software I think I have found instances where my region is considered in one and not the other and sometimes viceversa Could be wrong about that last point as I havent been super careful in my investigation been but some regional clarity would help if the region selection could be set to sticky and be positioned at the top of the list like in iBird so that every time you start a new search it is set to where you last put it until you say otherwise or turn off the stickyness wouldnt want this at the expense of the current search by characteristics but it would be nice if there was a second option for ID by bifurcating question series You can effect this through the search by characteristics tool by using it thoughtfully but I think the question series could be faster in certain situations and more facile for more novice tree people and kids              Better than reviews indicated

Pathetic Traveling on the west coast in San Francisco I entered Eucalyptus and the application returned NO ENTRIES Dont waste your money if you live west of the Mississippi     Tree NOID

This app was ok It was advanced for most of my students who needed to use it Since the upgrade the thing crashes all the time Save your money until further notice     Meh

Got this app a month ago worked 4 times Then it crashed The new update doesnt even make it work Not worth that kinda money     Not worth 399

This update does nothing to improve the utility of the app When I see a tree that I want to identify I want to see a pictures of green leaves and the corresponding bark to find those that match what Im looking at They could be sorted by either genre fruit palm broad leaf needle etc by shape or by location state or zip code or all three Instead what you get is about three dozen questions to answer which results in a long list of trees that all match the answers to the questions The leaves that it does show are fall color leaves not what you normally see If you already know what the tree is and simply want more info about it the app is ok but for identifying an unknown tree the app is virtually useless     Useless for identifying trees

Has dichotomous keys Has pictures of leaves or needles bark fruit and a map showing the range Another reviewer mentioned that there should be illustrations explaining the dichotomous key terminology Good news there is Its the question mark buttons next to each option It shows you everything Identify trees by physical characteristics region common or scientific name etc This is app is very underrated I have had no problems on my iPhone 4 Its free too Totally deserves 5 stars                 Really great app

This program concept is good however this program is poorly done The ID A Tree feature definitely needs work In a one of the ID catagories the Help does NOT match the items for selection Leaf Base I did find it interesting that there were many aspects to a leaf that I was not aware of however after spending considerable time plugging in all these values I had No Results for what I think is a fairly common tree in the south eastern US The program should give you some feedback heresuch as a list of possible trees listed in order by the number of positive hits It does give possible results sometimes if only a few categories are entered Since entering all these catagory or ID selections can take a fair bit of time it should at least automatically save this effort and give you the option to clear or restore on returning to that program feature also if you accidently leave the feature or you answer a PHONE CALL all is lost Go to Airplane mode if you use Tree ID        Tree ID Good Idea Poor Implementation

Its free it can find trees based on various characteristics search by commonscientific names wish I had it back when I was in school                 Very good Tree ID app

Why am I being asked to pay for this application I already purchased it once Doesnt make any sense     Pay Again
