Walk for a Dog

I have been using this new app for several weeks now I love the idea that my walks can help the shelter in my area YoungWilliams animal center I like the look of the app Sometimes the loading screen lingers before opening the app It is not a big issue I still use Walk for A Dog with Daisy                 Thank you Wooftrax

I love this app but it doesnt always work Right now it wont open So Im annoyed           Love the app when it works

The new UI looks great and is easy to use Nice to know my walks are helping for a great cause                 Works great on my iPhone 6 plus

Ive been using this app since I got my first dog almost two years ago and I love it Its very simple to use and Ive never had any problems with it The charity for shelters and organizations is a great idea and VERY easy to get involved in The only thing I think would be awesome is the ability to share walks to fitness apps such as MapMyFitness where I track hikes and other activities with my puppy                 Awesome App

Got it because rescue I adopted dog said it can help toward them First GPS was bad other updates was good Recent update forces me to have location on constantly even if app is not in use All other apps give never always when in use Now this app forces always Not good since that drains battery Liked helping out my rescue now can not because if this awful change        Ok went to awful

Im about to delete this app Before the update at least I got it to work even with it not always being accurate But since the update I keep getting a message that it cant detect my location even though Im outside I dont have time to wait for it to detect my location Too bad        GPS rarely detects my location

Tried using the app yet again today It would not record anything What gives Very disappointed with this     What gives

So I LOVE being able to support my local animal shelter while walking my dog but the one thing I hate about this app is that when I stop to do something it never lets me unpause my walk Its super frustrating I may just have to use ResQWalk that app is amazing Too bad my animal shelter isnt on that one I will see what I can do to so that I can support them while just using ResQWalk I had high hopes for the new update Too bad        Hmm

I am unable to use the app because it no longer is showing up in my list of apps that are able to use background refresh I cant even add it to the list        Background Refresh Not happening

Thanks for the quick fix on the location services for only while I am using it Is there a way to allow postingSharing my same walk results on more than one medium Facebook and Twitter                 Bring back only while using option

This most recent update took away the location tracking when using the ap There is no reason for this ap to know my location unless I am walking my dog Please fix or you will have people me deleting this goodwill intention ap Thanks           Please fix

Have not been able to get a validation email for this to even work to begin with Love the idea But the app isnt usable at this point Have tried multiple times to resend the email with nothing ever happening     No validation email

I love this app it sends annual donations once a year based on how much you walk Im assuming the company who makes the app needs to make some money to further develop the app so I dont mind clicking through the one add What is most important is it is easy to use and it accurately records my walks The best part is it is for a good cause The app has been updated and improved a lot since I first starting using it It seems to keep getting better                 Wonderful idea

Ive been using this app for a couple of years now with about a years hiatus for health reasons Started using it at least daily this past spring as Im able to get back to dog walking I only mention this because Ive seen the early versions seen the earlier 2015 version and the ones since then Love the idea of the app since Im going to use something to track walk length and time anyway and the dogs will always be with me on a walk perfect that the rescue where I got them can get a donation too Its so useful that Im OK with the banner ads or other ads that work OK since they need to make money for donations and to stay in business I would even put up with the annoyance of the app shutting off when my dogs were um in one place too long more than one dog thats going to happen I hate the share on Facebook no Im not going to post predictable times when Im out of my house in an area that has had its share of breakins and just no I dont literally need to tell the world when my dogs take a An option to select never share on Facebook would be nifty The popup ads though are making me very seriously consider removing the app and never using it again They are incredibly obtrusive and spammy I have not won anything You know how easy it is to miss the tiny X to close the window I guess you do because that gives more clicks to the sponsor As far as the pausing give people some extra time because by definition they are dealing with animals and phones to use this app Heres a common scenario I open the app start the walk hook up my headphones put my phone in a pocket or bag grab the dog stuff get the leash on two overexited corgis were heading to the door we dont need no stinkin leash head out let then sniff as I cant get any music to play Dig out the phone check to see that the walk had been paused by then try to start again get a popup ad try to hit the X while each dog is yanking a different direction Ignore the now open browser go back to the app try to get the walk started again before the app decides that Ive ended the walk and want to share this over Facebook Go half a block during this time because the dogs want to get moving Start some music get the app going again during the first pause put it back in bag The thing is Ive got one of the ancient unlimited data accounts I dont care that the browser is open and showing an ad that Im ignoring Most people have metered accounts and youre using their precious data because again by definition with this app people are not in a building on wifi when theyre using the app Regarding the post about not being able to delete a dog Thats bad design There are no happy reasons for why someone using this app would need to do that so make it possible as a courtesy if nothing else TLDR Think about who and why people use the app Dont take advantage of their willingness to put up with a lot to support charity Dont assume that supporting charity agreeing to invade privacy or use data needlessly        Lose the horrible popup ads

New ads slow down the app and are difficult to close              New ads are cumbersome

Finally fixed the last glitch where it kicks you off all the time Now it has quit detecting my location Location services are on and I have full service So disappointed        New glitch

I love this app I use it everyday But since the last update the app will no longer open I would rate it 4 stars but now with the update its only 1     App wont open since last update

I ran this app for the first time yesterday My two mile walk was recorded and my prefered rescue nonprofit was listed The app worked as described and I look forward to using this app on future walks The only issue that I have with the Walk for a Dog app is that it does not query the Facebook app rather it prompts the user to log into Facebook via Safari on the iPhone Id rather not be logged into Facebook via Safari when Im already using the FB app I am reviewing version 215624              Preliminary Experience Good Wish for native Social Media App Integration

I LOVE this app I used it faithfully everyday hoping it was legit actually funding shelters but now it will not even open So I have mixed feelings I cant use it anymore which makes me of course not happy but I also never saw any proof at all that my tracking was actually sending money to shelters Id like it fixed to open use Id like proof of some kind was being donated Please do these things Ive told so many people about this app in the past     Wont open

All of a sudden my two dogs have turned into about 8 dogs No option to delete them        Too many dogs

I just redownloaded this app after upgrading to the newest version of the iPhone It will not send me a validation email no matter how many times Ive tried     Wont send a validation email

Before the last update it worked well Now Im losing 1215 miles every week because the app closes out suddenly I use Runkeeper app also and this week I had by it 272 miles while Walk for a Dog I had a total of 12 My rescue is getting short changed        Getting worse

I used to LOVE this app but now it cant ever locate me even standing on a football field Fix the app I miss helping my shelter     Fix it

This app is great I love being able to donate to an animal charity of my choice My problem is that after the August update the location is always on draining my battery What happened to while using the app As a location choice To those that think the mileage isnt being registered Sometimes it takes a couple of days for mine to register              While using the app

Firstly my shelter which I walk for every day and which I work for has not received a check from this app in a year Last check was one year ago Secondly if I wanted to share my walk on Facebook I would but I dont want to Not today Not any day But each and every time that we use the app it asks us if we just want to stop the walk or so we want to stop and share I want to just stop every time I wi Never share Please get rid of this ridiculous prompt so people Who have no use for Social Media can just stop the app when the walk is over Also let the shelter managers know that checks from this app is on an annual basis because nobody seems to know if or when the checks will come in for the animals Thank you        Annual payments

Why is there no way to edit a dog and remove it We no longer have one of my dogs listed and I cant remove        Remove Dog

App auto updated Now HUGE adds pop up Worse yet they wont go away when you X them They stay up and you cant get to the screen to stop walking AND you cant stop batterys drain because of it I had to remove and reinstall Happened twice If again Henry will find greener grass        Ruined a good thing

While it worked it was great Then the app hung and will not boot up So all those miles I walked with my dog went bye bye I deleted the app and will try again I have iPhone 4S           good idea problems executing

Id love to write a positive review for this app It has a great concept but a poor execution I was unable to use the app at all since it wont even let me verify my email Hopefully that will get straightened out     Hmm

I use the app daily but recently noticed that it tracks my location ALWAYS I dont like that theres no reason to need my location when Im not using the app     Privacy concern with latest update

I love the concept and helping my favorite rescue group but why does it need my location even when Im not using the app Now Ill have to keep set to never and then change it to always whenever I actually head out for a walk        Location services

This app started out to provide noble support to rescues but has digressed First was the requirement that we stare at a cover screen before we could start each walk Now we have to click through ads after each walk before we ca start a new walk I for one will absolutely not patronize any company who required me to clock out of their ad on this app And I am asking my rescue yo warn our supporters who have not applied this offensive version to stop applying updates until this practice is removed We will also stop soliciting new users for this app     Requiring ad click through

I have been very happy with this app It is a terrific cause and any time I have asked a question or reported a problem the developers have been quick to respond and address all issues They seem very dedicated to constantly improving the app I highly recommend it                 Terrific app responsive developers

After a big debacle with location services this summer that the developer has since fixed thank you I feel that this apps performance is just okay The ads are annoying and hard to get rid of and I dont want to open spam and faux contests It takes a relatively long time to load while my dogs are waiting to get going its annoying to have to select the just stop option I will NEVER share it on Facebook EVER this should be a one time configuration in Settings and not a routine time waster and dont like to double select to stop Most annoying this app doesnt let me know HOW MUCH MONEY THE WALKS EARN MY SHELTER which is the whole point of the app I thought it was showing us with a little black pop up window that would rapidly disappear but no thats just more advertising Ive never even found a statement of how they calculate what a walk is worth I cannot fathom why that information is withheld other than lack of accountability The only reason I stick with this app is because I am hoping that my shelter really is benefiting from our walks        Ongoing frustration with this app

Love how this app gives me the motivation to get more exercise and Gus likes it too Plus I can keep track of our walks                 A triple win

Ive not had any problems using the app I find the new update to be very fluid and much easier to use I used to have some difficulty with the app but now with the update I can take photos on my walks without any problems Glad to be able to help local shelters and thank you for making this app better and better with each and every update My dogs and I are happy to make a difference with every walk                 Love it

I agree with the other reviews I am very disappointed with this app It literally auto pauses every 30 seconds and if I dont resume fast enough it ends my walk I was really hoping to continue using the app to help my rescue I will have to find another way     Disappointed

Im bummed The app is only tracking my start and end stopsbut obviously if Im walking my dog we start and end at home So the distance is always 0 miles It doesnt make sense Need to go back to my original walking app until this functionality is fixed     GPS doesnt work

I was using the app several times a week now it wont find my location so I have to use another app to keep up with my distance therefore my shelter doesnt get credit for my walk     Upstate

I have only had the App for a few days but was drawn to try it because of the giving back aspectIm walking the poochkins anyway so why not make it count I like the map feature and am entertained looking at that part after our walks because you can see by each little squiggle on the map where we stopped to sniff or pee and deviated from our straight line on the sidewalk Were all getting more exercise than we thought I know so many people who walk their dogs and would love the idea of having it make a difference to the shelter of their choice so I invited everyone I know I have not had any problems with crashes or difficulties so Im giving this App 5 stars woof                 Love the App love the concept

I love the concept of this app and walk about 5 miles a day so I always try to use it But more often than not it randomly quits and doesnt record any mileage So disappointing        Quits for no reason

But every since it was updated the app wont open It pops up then gone I have walked several days now with my dog unable to use this app Is this app gone                 Love this

The last time I started Walk for a Dog Aug 29 2015 I was notified that I needed to turn on location services Huh It used to be While using this app With this latest version the choices were changed to Never or Always I had to change it to Always to continue using the App There is no need for this App to have location services running all the time when Im not using it To put the final nail in the coffin when I was done walking my dog and clicked Finished Walking in the App I was presented with a popover ad saying I WON a coupon I didnt mind the banner ads that were presented before but this was too much After closing the ad and when I closed the app double click and swipe app off screen the location services arrow was still active on my phones home screen Walk for a Dog and no other apps were running I immediately removed Walk for a dog and the location arrow went away I used the previous versions up until now they did a good job of logging my walks over 500 miles logged I always felt that I was in some way helping the shelter of my choice but I always wondered How much is contributed The app nor yearly emails sent to me ever disclosed the amount donated to my selected shelter So what was my impact I dont know From now on Ill donate to the local shelter directly     Used to Love it Now I removed it

The app lacked visual appeal before update but worked pretty well But now I see the nice startup screen then it immediately crashes over and over again Please fix     Immediate crash at open

With the update Ive noticed the tracking has improved immensely As with most apps that use gps it can of course be spotty in areas with lots of foliage but the new popup window that comes up when I start a walk solves that problem by letting me begin my walk and picking me up once I get under some open sky As always I love the energy behind this app I think its a great idea and Im glad to be helping out my local shelter in any way I can                 Very cool

It keeps saying it cant find a location when I always have location services on for the app as well as a strong internet connection It wont even record distance walked without the GPS for location        Please Fix

I really enjoy using this app because I know I am helping the local animal shelters I also post my walks to Facebook after hoping others will see the app and do the same thing But it keeps asking me to sign in every time even though I have checked off the recognize this browser log in from the app Annoying Also trying to contact app support but unable to open that option Otherwise works well              Problem with Facebook

Just updated my iPhone 5 from iOS 6 to 84 and downloaded the new app Love the new look Used 3 times yesterday and worked perfectly Fun to see how far and how fast we are walking                 Works great Fun to track my walks
