Saw that there was a prompt to start a free trial to read articles within the Appleinsider IOS app that couldnt be bypassed or dismissed Are you kidding me I rarely used to use this app to read AI articles while on the go not near a computer but if I gotta pay to read articles via the app that I can read on the web for free Id just as soon delete this piece of crap For the time being I dont see anything about being able to use the app to read articles for free but that could be because its designed to bait you into thinking you need to subscribe to continue seeing articles albeit with ads Guess well see if it turns out that there is a way to read AI articles for free via the app but if not this is one less app Ill be using for Apple news rumors    Forced subscription No thanks
While like the look of new version I dont like that new version doesnt show date article was released Also wished for same saving or sending options as Safari in iOS 8 add additional options such as send directly to Evernote or open to Reader in Safari Have to go through many steps to even get to Safari          Wanted more from last update
I updated the app this morning on my iPhone 4s running iOS 83 and it will not open I can choose the app on my home screen and it will trigger an app open animation but crashes before any information is shown Sorry to write a review with a bad rating I love the app and apple insider I have been following it for two years now but I simply cant access the content through the app with this update and needed to get the word out to the developers    App doesnt open after update
This app does nothing but erroneously display the message Whoops You must connect to a WiFi or cellular data network to access the news feed I tried deleting and reinstalling to no avail Get it together AppleInsiderYour website is great but this app is embarrassing    Completely nonfunctional
Ive been reading Apple Insider for a long time The articles are always interesting and informative However recently it crashed and froze my phone so I have avoided using it until today It crashed again but didnt freeze my phone I hope this gets fixed because I otherwise like this app If it continues to crash I will delete it Update I deleted it I will reinstall it when I see reviews saying it is working reliably now          Great for Apple news but crashes now
Unlike what some people think you do not have to buy a subscription Ive been using it nonstop The app is clean and easy to navigate                Great app
Im not sure what all the whining is about but I enjoy reading this from time to time Nothing is free and if you are too poor to afford a subscription then you are probably too poor to afford Apple products So wheres the problem                Great app
Repeatedly crashes reading news eg 1029 MS Inadvertently leaks and were expected to pay a subscription fee for this       Crashes
As an apple news site you would expect their app to support the iPhone 6 and 6 plus Nope Add iPhone 6 support its shameful you left this out in your update Still no iPhone 6 support months later    Still no iPhone 6 support
App wont connect using LTE only WiFi now       Bad Connections
Ads take up the entire screen and require the user to press a tiny X button to close them Not cool Better to just use their website    Giant ads
You need to add a cancel button to dismiss this Alert asap as stated by the other reviewer    AppleInsider Plus alert
Not made for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Also why do I have to pay to add something to pocket Thats ridiculous    Not optimised
Tiny thin low contrast fonts dont make a better user experience You guys ruined the app with this update Im on a phone Make it easy to read This new design language is horrible Just another app that drank the IOS7 koolaid    Terrible design Cant read anything
Im sorry that I wont sign up for your free trial subscription service If you force your readers to choose the option youll lose readers Thats exactly what youve done with me Until you offer a close or ignore option for your subscription service option upon opening the Latest News section I wont be reading from your app Two stars because I still enjoy the contentTo other readers Id recommend not upgrading until this is fixed The previous version did not force this option without a choice       Forced Into Trial No
I just updated and was hit with a subscribe overlay that could not be removed without hitting the subscribe button OK So its free for some many months At which time I maymay not remember to unsubscribe And maymay not notice the amount deducted from my itunes account So Delete the app and get my Apple News elsewhere    No way
Love this app more than the website The push notifications really make the subscription worth it The watch update is pretty cool too                I use this every day
iPad version wasnt that great anyway Rather read it from the web if I need to    Subscription required for iPad app deleted
I enjoy the convenience of the App except it has a major flaw for at least the last 3 revisions When viewing and article sometimes especially long ones will not be displayed in their entirety There is no way to really know as the sentence will always end but the article will seem like it never wrapped up Clicking on Comments will show you the mobile web version with the WHOLE article and then the comment to the bottom If I was a paying subscriber I would find this very unacceptable    Nice App Too Bad The Whole Story Isnt Displayed
Why would I pay for an app that just repeats a webpage that is FULL of ads You people are dilly and delusional    Why would I pay for this
No1 source for Apple news and yet ironically no update for new iPhones after months    No update for bigger iPhones yet
You guys want a subscription for the same stuff on your website Deleted       Seriously
This really is a beautiful app Unfortunately for me a big requirement is use of the iOS 8 share options The only conclusion I can make is they do not want people sharing their articles       Beautiful app fails to notice that iOS 8 has better sharing options
Twice now you have murdered DED articles that work great on the web mobile version You also force us to take the premium version for 39 days when I would not pay for it especially on a continual basis    Why take something so simple and mess it up
It would help if the release notes explained it better though When the try the new and Improved blah blah blah you dont need a cancel button because clicking on the sheet does not obligate you to subscribe it at anytime of course they would like you tooYou then get all the bells and whistles the Premium version adds When the trial period runs out then the trying to use the Premium features will remind you that a subscription is required to turn those back danged annoying but it is their app and remove ads I believeYou can continue to use the app without the new features For me that is fine cause I generally read AI on my 27 inch iMac anyway along with my other daily stuff Some of the new stuff is nice IMHO very little of it is worth the 075 100 month the ask for I would think that a flat fee for the upgrade something along 200 one time fee seems more reasonableCheers             READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW
This app follows a trend from free app developers who either force you to sign up for a paid service a trial initially or who upgrade with an app with irritating ads appleinsider chooses the former by making you sign up for the free trial for a paid version Are you serious The upgrade gives you one option sign up for a free trial They forgot the other option I chose was to delete the app Heading to macrumors    These folks join the list of app developers whose app update makes users do something without choice
This app tries to open then shut down with the public beta I have tried all of the tricks but they do not work       ios9 public beta
Evidence that this is meant for suckers1 9year or 3month FYI 12x3 362 Even if you avoid the first trap theyre still asking you to pay 9year for a streamlined version of the free webpage Conclusion I will pay 0 and put the weblink on my iPad instead Or Ill just keep using the free iPhone app Either way way to insinuate that were all a bunch of morons It has earned you one star    Perfect app for Suckers
Randomly introducing a forced subscription to read a feed is an insult to all of your customers       Dump the forced subscription
Generally a nice app but one huge problem you can adjust the size of the text in articles but the text in the comment section is laughably tiny Unreadable really       Comments text is tiny
Hi there Im an existing subscriber signed up when redesigned iPad app lunchedOn the iPhone I am getting promoted to subscribe For existing subscribers where do I log in       Where to log in
With this app update you are forced into starting a trial subscription to use the app and then are hit with nagging notices to pay Unsatisfactory Use the mobile web site instead    Force to Start Trial Subscription
Crashes every single time you do a search that yields more than a few pages of articles Get it together you guys are embarrassing yourselves with this shoddy app    An Embarrassment
The news and website are great This is constantly has issues The latest being placing old articles from prior months under the current month date Whomever they use to write and update this app needs to shown the door for lack of quality control and just plain laziness    Crappy App
The App will not open using iOS9 Beta             No Surprise
I generally like Apple Insider But as far as the comment section goes they ruined it    PITIFULLY tiny COMMENT SECTION can barely read it
As of AppleInsider 12015 202 update there are 0 mentions as to using the application and it forcing you to register for a monthly subscription or if that was fixed Maybe the software developers did not read a single review Sure looks like itAs of prior December updateIm forced to upgrade to Apple Insider Plus now to read news which is FREE on your website Whoever thought to do this should be fired as they are a moron Put ads on your website not charge your readers you idiots    Forced to upgrade to Apple Insider Plus
The app wont open at all                App crashes in iOS 9
You are forced to subscribe to the app now App is officially deleted Worst idea ever    Crazy
The comments are now tiny and pushed off to the right side Unreadable on my iPad Air 2 I deleted the AI app    Update made comments unreadable
Make money from your content and traffic Not from your readers Ive been an AI fan checking this app daily for at least a year and now unfortunately I have to delete it Its a shame Also whose idea was it to not allow users to opt out or decline the subscription Such a stupid move    Subscription Lame
Thought it was free with advertising to pay for the service similar to the website Its actually a trial for a month then you have to subscribe No thanks deleting immediately    Subscription Model Only
App looks so much nicer with iPhone 6 display support             Thanks for the 66 Plus update
Historically a great app                My first choice for Mac news
I love the app Please Fix the issues with iOS9 public beta The app is crashing I uninstalled installed the app but still no luck                I love the app Please Fix the issues with iOS9 public beta
Cant make font bigger hard to read    Worse than a mobile web site
Text is now legibly big Graphics still wont scale up even to landscape view size like they can on the mobile website Your app should be better than Safari or whats the point          An improvement
The format fonts are beautiful to read The size of the fonts and their layout is very easy on my eyes Even the ads are nicely situated so as not to be a nuisance One quibble I have with the iPad app is that adding comments isnt intuitive since you have to navigate to the home page refind the article and then login and comment Thats just too many steps to do something that normally isnt difficult when viewing the site within a browser window Thanks for a nice way to consume Apple rumors news             Really nice reading experience
Was OK app until just now when they tried to force a premium subscription Its either amateur hour at AI or a developer error by not including a cancel button My recollection is that this may contravene Apples developer guidelines To another reviewer who whined that anyone who complained about this must be a hater because AI wont charge your credit card after the trial thanks for the laugh    Forced trial option bye bye AI
Useful app but so annoying that podcast stops when screen saver kicks in             Good alternative to website
