Arctic Keys is a virtual analog synthesizer. With a classic dual-oscillator subtractive synthesis design that gives you the sound creation flexibility we all know and love. With an easy to use user interface that just ...
This audiobus compatibility problem needs to Be addressed Audiobus has consistently been broken jenet_christiansen
eh Eh Michaelrulesify
There are better ones out there Sounds rather generic and digital Disappointing Zymmadrake
I just got this synth and it sounds good but is not working with Audiobus so I cannot record the music Will try again if it gets updated UPDATE Your new version supposedly works with AudioBus but when I try to record it no sound is recorded At this point I d like my money back Sounds cool but not working with Audiobus r0bd4d
A great little app but with iOS 8 it will not work with Audiobus This comes as a surprise when you have already purchased it and are downloading it The company knows about this issue Other than this problem it is a fantastic synthesizer for the money Issues Chill brother earl
Please update needs audiobus and a better screen resolution for iPhone 6 Plus Thanks Could be a 5 star app Update WAXGROOVES
It is amusing to see comments that do not help the developer fix resolve issues or help him with ideas for his next evolutions of the app With that said let me tell you this is a great gateway to learning synthesis All controls are spelled out and follow a sequence Very easy to make noises sounds pads bases you name it Something I would have liked was compatibility of patches with the pro version but then again you can t have it all If you are new to synthesis get this app C3l3$t1n0
Don t bother Sounds are generic and not worth your time I thought I was buying Arctic Pro Synth my mistake and a waste of money Don t bother Playa1970
It should be noted first that if you are an iPad user check out One Red Dog s newer product which is Arctic ProSynth I own ProSynth and found it decent but not quite up to the standards of Sunrizer and Magellan Arctic Keys looks kind of like an alpha version of ProSynth but the basic functionality is there The sounds and presets are decent and I appreciate that there s a fair number of lead sounds on board I m downgrading one star however because the MIDI connectivity is glitchy and the app isn t the best synth at its price on iPhone let alone on iPad Still if you want an affordable synth with a low file size Arctic Keys will do Passable Universal Synth App HouseOfHomuth
Perhaps it sounds like an analog synth to someone who has never actually played an analog synth but having owned several I can say with some authority that this app does not live up to the promise included in its very name I don t often do this but I am gonna say I regret paying the admittedly tiny price mostly because I don t think I will ever use it it sounds gritty and digital If you are looking for virtual analog move along you have better choices Virtual what now Murdock Scott
This app is great The help function is the smartest I ve ever seen Just push the question mark and you see what each function button is The sound is tops also Awesome Clemmyjc
A ton of possibilities Excellent synth Robert McVey
Thanks for supporting Audiobus this great synthesizer just moved to the front of the line Thank you littlewoodg
This synth would be great but I have constant problems with it crashing all the time and the midi settings always somehow get changed and the sequencer ill get it to work then the app crashes I restart it have to re adjust the midi settings Audiobus is a great new feature but I can t get the seq to work properly with it Hope this stuff gets fixed I will gladly change my review Very Very buggy TadbitOmusiC
Sounds feels more raw and real than other analog synths in the App Store Recommended Unique sounds Software5
This app had some cool sounds The latest update added 64 new sounds Per the update instructions it would ADD the new sounds and I keep my legacy sounds All the new sounds play at normal volume However my legacy sounds are now at half volume This is not good Please send out another update please thanks It was OK BUT mtoddsmith
This is a fantastic instrument My apologies for the ignorant people yeah that s what I said Deaf guy who can write spleenomatic
I pretty much have them all with the exception of the ridiculously priced Fairlight This synth is great but where it really shines is in the arp sequencer You can create some very interesting dynamic synth lines with this Great work developer This is a great synth Robert Reynolds
A deaf guy wrote this app Don t worth a star Disappointed snucmill
I knocked off 1 star because of volume normalization issues when using the internal iPad speaker Some presets are significantly louder than others Some are bare audible Headphones or external speakers are a necessity Nice synth great sounds paw paw negro blow torch
I love the sound quality of this synth is very clean sounding and reminds me of a few of the great hardware synthsmof tha past The only issue with it is has no multitmbral capability so you are stock with using one sound on sequences sample tank has this but i prefer the sound here Love the sound but needs multi timbral j. Lagares
Arctic Keys deserves your attention for a couple of reasons The distortion effect is pretty impressive and adding tweakability can add some fun sounds to your repertoire 1 star Geo likes Arctic keys This puts AK ahead of most of your tried and true 2 stars Multitimbrality would be over the top Here s hoping That would be worth 2 stars Will be interesting to see future tweaks I want more sounds some awesome leads Waiting for more tutorial videos to help High Hopes Comtubly Numm
Well into my top 5 iOS synths I dig it wizatunes
very pleased with this app especially the recent updates the dual x y pads are great but please can we have the first x pad NOT hardwired to pitch more programmability would be better thanks for a good sounding app very nice app steubig
To love this app It s quality and there are constant updates I m beginning shad1shad
This is a great sounding synth with lots of control shaping that right sound your looking for I got it when it first came out and like the fact that it s constantly getting regular updates and getting better I like the tons of knobs and controls to manipulate which puts this synth is in my top five don t hesitate on this one Reg updates valloy
Have had arctic keys for a while I initially played with it and then stopped because I didn t want to put very much effort into learning how to use it and the presets were kinda boring However I learned how to use the sequencer and then the update with iPhone support scales and x y control came out and it blew my mind Try putting the synth in scale mode put the setting for the keyboard on pitch and slide up and down vertically to control parameters of the synth such as cutoff while tweaking the x y pads and you will start to really fall in love with it like I did Awesome Marlow77
Nothing new or ground breaking here It is just an ok synth app Not disappointing but also not mind blowing Worth keeping Nothing too fancy analoghaze
Excellent sound and still works while running in the background unlike Sunrizer Works well with Geo Synthesizer running the latter as a midi controller Works in the background rtaljun
I like the neon blue to it but it s a little confusing Pretty Sweet The Bitta Gera
No ability to record performance No track recording feature BestBigDaddy
Kinda ok start Overall not so great I can see me recording sounds from it into a DAW and processing the hell out of it Otherwise sort of boring and also not intuitive in some areas Doesn t compare to the top end synths for iPad and not worth the price yet Eh Dedrich
Okay my initial review was a bit harsh so I am rewriting it as I do believe in this developer and I have spent more time with the app So that said this is a pretty darn nice synth the main OSC can easily be overdriven so if you are not liking the sound you are getting dial back a bit and work from there Honestly when you open a synth app the same rule applies as if you were walking into a music store First impressions of the sound quality and presets are huge They should instantly spark the imagination and with the initial release I felt they were a bit lack luster but after tweaking them a bit and dialing in the oscillator a bit I a really getting some nice sounds I am really quite impressed and I am looking forward to further development and new apps Review revision rhanline
Synth sounds and works great Once I have my riff down I simply audio copy to Music Studio I had originally rated the app lower because I didn t think you could email a midi file The dev was very quick to contact me and explain how you can export a midi via email through the patch menu They were really nice even with the low rating I gave them which turned out to be my error not theirs Great app and worth the money Revised Nice App Great Support mypupdaisy
Like it Good app Bad Watch
Not bad compared to some of the other synth apps I ll definitely get some use out of it and look forward to seeing this app develop into something that stands out But for 5 bucks I m a happy camper It s Pretty Cool Sound4mation
Could not disagree more with the looks good sounds bad assessment of an earlier reviewer it not only sounds good it has incredible features like it s programmable mod wheel multiple scalable assignments please So the cutoff resonance could be contrasted in one go Just a thought an OUTSTANDING arpeggiator sequencer as well as Audio Copy Paste implementation Made an awesome bass line sequence in my first exploratory session with Arctic Synth with no tutorial despite a fairly advanced feature set Definitely a worthy addition to any iPad synth Toolbox Arsenal One critical note please work on the Ring Mod it s unworthy of the high quality of the rest of Arctic Synth and is pitiable Kept this from being a 5 Star review Another Next Gen Gem vurnt22
Good work so far and MAD PROPS for the great customer support on Synthtopia and the Lightning Fast Updates The keys are playable now Great improvement in Function and Payability SevenStarGod
Beautiful graphical interface logical rack effect for pages killer sequencer the menu system that being accessed from preset selection is clear as day as I like the midi file audio file separation that being said Buggy kudos for dev being proactive with fixes I feel the tempo is goofy as is the arp the arp seems not to immediately reflect subdivision changes bottom line this is SO close to really shining with 5 stars I am really lovin the devs who are serious about designing pro synth apps Good and halfway decent angelo grover
Works as advertised but doesn t raise any bars It s fairly indistinguishable from any of the other virtual analog synth apps out there I think it s terrible that you can t loop the playback of recordings and have to navigate menus to even play back what you just recorded You also can t predetermine the recording length so if you want to export your recordings to loop in other apps you need to trim them which cannot be done within this app This is a common shortcoming of a lot of similar synth apps I primarily use apps like this for building loops and phrases to use within other apps like nanostudio and beatmaker Given the shortcomings of this app s recording function I doubt I ll be using it much The sounds are okay but in my opinion there are much better sounding synths in the same price range Meh druj75
I have been anticipating Arctic for a while now and overall I am very impressed The sounds are very unique when compared to the recent torrent of synths flooding the app store Arctic has some very unique features and in my opinion is a must have for anyone who has the analogue synth bug The sounds I was able to produce felt very raw and not manufactured like other synths However after an hour of play I had the app crash twice and keys froze to an unusable state I lost a preset I was working on Too bad it happens though But the sounds are so nice I did not care enough to stop playing But because the crashing and keyboard glitches the app looses a star But I m sure it will be fixed soon and with the fix it will most definitely be a five star app As for the interface there are a couple of things I do not like The mod wheel only turns if you touch on the indention I would prefer for the mod wheel to react if touched anywhere much like a real mod wheel real mod wheels work anywhere you touch them Also the sequencer requires you to lift your fingers after each column between notes for note entry this is kind of annoying to me I would like to be able to run my finger horizontally across the sequencer to make a fluid motion for parameter automation I m thinking like drawing filters in addictive synth Many aspects of the menus resemble the iMS 20 which I am very happy with I will say that I am really digging the automate able parameters but I would like to see the effects echo chorus distortion included in the programable parameters in the sequencer Also I would really like to see more than 16 notes per sequence Requires a bit of extra work for sequencing but suppose I can use another app via virtual midi or core midi for sequencing So it s not a major problem Had some issues getting Polychord to talk to arctic but I think it might have been a polychord issue All things considered it s a great app Worth the cost even with a couple bugs A compelling synth in a sea of iOS music apps Obis11
I especially like the sequencer You get 4 parameters to control and each can have its own independent loop length Reminds me of the iMS20 reset trig in wiring if you get my meaning Careful though if you re trying out how your sequence might sound on this or that parameter This thing is really live so if a knob received a value from the sequencer then it will stay at it instead of falling back on its old value if the sequence routing is changed The sequencer needs a try routing and a commit routing functionality Also i think i tried too many routings because it stopped making any sounds at all Had to restart the app So in conclusion Top Notch sounds but main unique feature needs polish Get it it s cool Sweet pick it up Darth Sneakers
