Gettysburg Guide

Perhaps best app on Gettysburg A must for touring the battlefield or studying the battle at home Better than a guide book                 Gettysburg Historian

I was disapointed that all the descriptions were the exact same word for word as the free map we got at the information desk I couldnt get the photo thing to work but didnt try very hard The GPS worked but so did the GPS on our phones so we just used that All in all it wasnt useful for us We were not searching for anything specific just did the autotour and wanted additional information about the stops not just what we could read in the free map Would have liked it to have a naration track        Not much better than the map they give you

This uses a normal map to display all the monuments at Gettsyburg You can filter by some base classes or a keyword enabling you to quickly find items of interest Each marker has text telling you what it is a monument or a battlefield marker And there are bunches Simple but effective and easy to use Ive not taken it to Gettysburg yet but it also has an Augmented Reality view You can hold it up spin around and see where the marker you are for looking is Seems like it would come in handy once Im there walking around now they are a giant stack due to how far away I am Or you can go to show all and just see what is near where you are at App doesnt cost much Ive spent more for coffee and looks like itll improve my experience at Gettysburg                 Looks handy for visiting Gettyburg

I just went with my family to Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary This app really helped us find our way around Id definitely recommend                 Very helpful

I wish Id had this when I took my scout troop to Gettysburg a few years back The augmented reality is really neat When you have a monument youre looking for and youre not sure which it is you can use the app to tell which is which                 Really useful

After the park service got rid of the electric map Ive been looking for a way to introduce visitors to the battlefield The audio guide is fine but many people like me are visual learners and only having audio just isnt going to cut it To me the Gettysburg Guide feels like a portable version of the classic electric map You get a nice overview map with customizable landmarks you can show just the monuments for example or search for something specific But then you can switch to an augmented reality view where the landmarks are superimposed on what your camera sees think Star Walk That way as you look around the battlefield you can be sure that what youre looking at is really what you think it is And if youre hiking you can find your way to the next waypoint or restroom with ease even if you dont have lineofsight So if youre planning a trip to Gettysburg I definitely recommend getting this app                 Finally A Visual Tour Of Gettysburg
