Purchase this app with confidence Well worth it                 Best app
just about the only one too Love this app is a very useful supplement to having the paper maps So useful my son who is starting the PCT this month wants to use it on the PCT with a solar charger for his iphone Were using it together to plan the mail drops and resupply points Advice get all 5 fifth is due soon                 Best PCT app
Im impressed so far Ive tried nearly all of the other iPhone mapping apps Gaia GPS Topo Maps and this provides the most elegant experience for downloading and using PCT maps The ability to predownload all of the maps and turn off auto downloading is essential for those of us looking to limit cellular data usage just as the option to quickly enable and disable GPS helps us conserve precious battery power The abundance of tappable waypoints with pictures is a vastly nicer interface than trying to use a different mapping app with Halfmiles tersely named waypoints I cant wait to try it out on the trail this year but there are a few improvements that would make it even better Integration with the water reports would make the water info ten times as useful It would be nice to have an elevation profile for the visible portion of the trail Finally allowing users to add new publicly visible notes and new annotated waypoints directly from the app would transform this from a static guidebook to a live wiki that would be the most useful resource on the trail                 Best electronic map for the PCT
Ive been using this app on my 2012 thru hike and it is hands down the best choice for hiking the PCT Unlike other free apps it shows your exact location on the trail and if youre off trail you can easily bushwack back Also there are a huge number of waypoints with campsites etc Get it                 Amazingly simple and useful tool
I hiked 300 miles on the PCT with this app on my iPhone and my GPS After one week I sent my GPS home This app met all my needs I was never more than 50 feet off trail with 4 or 5 wrong turns quickly corrected by Guthooks app Thanks for saving my time and energy                 Great App
Guthook has put together a excellent app The days of heavy books are over                 Excellent
Post trail This app was a major part of my Shivers 2012 thru hike with my wife BAM Bust A Move We started in Campo on April 29 and finished the trail on October 1st 2012 We ended up buying all five Guthook Guides PCT apps and highly recommend the series of apps We bought the app primarily to keep us oriented on the trail but in Southern California we benefited mostly from the water reports of hikers in front of us who used the register feature This does not take away from the importance of the traditional water report but it was a very useful supplement that sometimes gave us a more up to date understanding of the water situation We also met some friends along the trail and the ability leave the app and get iPhone maps directions to a location was extremely useful Pretrail I am preparing to thru hike the PCT and I am already impressed with this app It has already made a huge difference in writing up a resupply strategy we have been scrolling through the maps keeping a brief record of tent sites and resupply points to help us sketch out a viable plan Things will certainly change but it is comforting to see pictures of locations and to have a brief sense of what an intersection town random signs etc The app has not crashed on me at all and I was worried that predownloaded maps would take up a lot of space but it doesnt seem bad at all Thank you Guthook for spending the time to put this app together and for offering it at a reasonable price Look forward to updates and other apps using the same framework                 Hit the trail prepared
This app has improved enormously since I first started using it and I loved it even then It is essential to my enjoyment off the PCT as I dont have to worry at all if I wander off trail I can find water trail heads parking camping and amenities Its very easy to use When Im on a long hike I keep my iPhone in airplane mode so the gps doesnt deplete the battery then use the app if the trail becomes confusing or Im looking to stop for the night Highly recommended And its really fun too The elevation profile is fabulous                 Essential PCT app
Im on my phone so I wont go into great detail I used it twice while hiking over 60 miles of the trail in the San Gabriel Mnts All I can say is it works and is accurate They should think about adding more possible spots to pitch a tent                 It works
Awesome app Im a section hiker on a fiveyear plan to complete the PCT have used the app for Etna to Ashland and Whitney to Tuokemne Im using it extensively as I research the Campo to Cajon leg Elkwalker                 User
