Full App Discounted 20% for a Limited Time "It's shocking Google never created this software on its own." -- Inc. Can t miss app. -- Mashable Kiwi for Gmail Lite turns Gmail it into a full-powered ...
Overall it is a good app But when I create a new message the New message window opens I type my message I click on Send the message gets sent and then the window does not close I stare at a blank New message window superimposed on my mailbox until I close the superfulous window manually And when I am in the process of creating a message new or a reply and a draft was created if I open an existing message then try to go back to my draft I often cannot re open the draft When I click on it it does not open These are pretty basic and frustrating issues                 Crashes more not less CA Ray O'Sunshine
For those who appreciate having separation of concerns between gmail calendar and their web browser but hate the bloat of native Mail this is a nice compromise It has a few annoying quirks given gmail s own lags I wish CMD R refreshed but I greatly prefer the notification and topbar features Kiwi lite adds One account is enough for me so lite is nice to have Additionally there is a long standing bug where you are unduly restricted on the image types you can upload and hve to do that in a browser window If they fixed that I d be 99 happy with it                 Basic but helpful mc-funk
I ve run into a couple problems When I set the application to only notify me for important email it notifies for every email AND list the total unread account on the icon When I set it for all mail it notifies for all email BUT doesn t show the total unread only the important unread How the heck do I only get notifications for important Also it notifies for the emails but it still takes a few minutes for them to show up without a refresh Very frustrating         Very Buggy lettereighteen
I like this app SO much better than the built in Mail app on my MacBook Pro It does everything I need from my Gmail account without having to open a browser The notificatons are nice the functionality is on point and it s great not to have to open up a browser The free Lite version is definitely good enough for me and my usage My only complaint would be that sometimes it doesn t refresh the inbox automatically so I have to click the refresh button at the top But that s only a minor annoyance and it still beats having to contantly open up my browser to access my Gmail account                     Works exactly as it should YouthGuyDan
I enjoy that the app allows me to open my company gmail account in a dedicated app as my company does not have gmail configured for third party applications The lack of notification of calendar items however is disturbing I missed a couple of meetings after installing this app until I realized that a native feature that was present with the browser based connection was no longer there in the kiwi app This seems odd as my understanding is that this is just a wrapper around native gmail functionality The app itself is good for e mail but be aware that the reminders that one sets for calendar appointments will not actually fire                 Has promise but still needs a few items to be truly useful Grumpy this morning
I use Kiwi every day and love it                 Best Gmail app out there Oharadr
Love this little app Seems like the missing feature on Gooles software suite Support has connected with me on everything I have asked about                     Amazing software fantastic support jemmyn
I ve only got one                     Lite user not full NewEnglandDoug
Update 7 11 Been a little while since the last update Thank you guys for keeping up a quality app Still honestly using both would love having a couple more accounts on the pro version I ve got 8 Update 12 22 LOVE the FIND feature within inbox AND within messages Paid user who also uses the light app to have an additional account While not as rich as the paid version it s a nice tidy app on its own                     Update Nice alongside paid version too MoEzekiel
Perhaps it s my workflow doesn t depend so much on Gmail and Google Apps but really can t find the use case for this app To me it s just a trimmed down single window URL less browser pointed to Gmail Sorry but I don t get it             Meh Bernx
Great stand alone client and alternative to having a browser full of web and emial tabs I enjoy having a separate client for mail that is distinct from my browser My favorite feature is that when you compose a new message a new window opens by default Keep up the good work                     Great Stand Alone Gmail Client kmsTunes
Does the few key things it does very well                 Nice fontmatt
While it adds little functionality over Gmail and lacks the ability to display link targets though you can always copy paste to check before following it does significantly improve memory usage over the in browser Gmail tab Instead of using upwards of 2GB of RAM it uses more like 600MB Not bad for a free app Plus it allows you to cmd tab to switch to mail an added bonus Further RAM savings and link target display in the future would be fantastic Thanks Kiwi                     Saves RAM oneonetwothreefive
I ve been using this for a few months and really like it It is reliable easy to use and does most things well My only minor complaint is that alt click on links in an e mail should not switch focus to the web browser                 Very useful works very well Carlos Alvarez
They NEED to give you the option to have the icon either in the taskbar OR the Dock Forcing to you to choose only the dock or both is just annoying Be unobstrusive Get out of the way and let us work Not everyone wants a persistent icon in their dock             Works well but laxidaisy
I use the free version and it is so helpful I love having Gmail as its own app I also like how new messages open in a new window instead of being stuck in the browser Only complaints I have is that it does not open a new window when you reply or forward an email and it does not put a notice on bottom left when I download something like chrome does                     Great App DavidOgletree
and that s useful but not very useful enough to pay for All the app does is show gmail wrapped in a Kiwi window The only advantage of this is that you can cmd tab to Gmail Kiwi That s handy if you keep a lot of browser windows open On HUGE security hole it has is that it doesn t show you the URL in an email Smart people don t click a link in an email unless they know where it goes Features they SHOULD have if they really want to be useful Put the compose window in it s own tab in the Kiwi window NOT in a separate window Show Gmail s crappy contact manager in it s own tab Better yet replace it with a useful contact manager that still manages the Gmail contacts Rather than the Inbox Calendar Contacts being buttons on a sidebar they should be tabs The one with my current account would be the Inbox and add Calendar and Contacts next to that It might be a Mac UI issue rather than your problem but a better frame around the app would be nice As is when it overlaps another window usually Chrome it looks like your window is in a Chrome tab Stop opening the calendar in it s own weird sized window and put it in a tab inside Kiwi Let me choose which browser to open links in I don t want them in the default browser I want them in the one that s on the same desktop as Kiwi the ability to right click text and search for it with my favorite search engine         Only has one trick Awfki
Reliable fast and very easy to use Like it more than the real thing in gmail I use it on my Mac Air and I have no complaints                     KIWI does what is needed genopena13
This app would be super awesome if it didn t just contain exactly what gmail offers on the web browser Things that drive me crazy about using the web browser or this app for google mostly just google digs but this app could enhance categorizing emails with the stars you can t just choose the color of the star you have to keep clicking until the star reaches the color you want in the rotation and if you miss it you just keep on clicking doesn t support calendar unless you are quick like 10 seconds or less you ve lost all hope of recalling that saucy email you accidently sent to your boss google does not seem very cooperative with mac users this is why i tried this app to begin with I think this is the main reason It s very hard working with a google account for work as it does not provide the same items that a microsoft exchange email account utilizes I was hoping this would be the app to make it easy and not having the calendar integrated with it is such a loss I would not pay full price for this     No just No JediRebelKB
I use this app for one simple reason I always have a ton of browser windows open which makes it tough to find the one with gmail open This way it s in a separate app and I don t have to dig for it                     Keeps my gmail window easy to find in a separate app wilcoxst
It s very convenient to be able to use Gmail independently of whichever Google account my browser s happen to be signed into at the time I definitely recommend this app If you have multiple Gmail accounts you can upgrade to the paid version which I highlly recommend as well                     Useful for keeping Gmail separate from browsing T-Nica
Does what it should Looks like it should Acts like it should Doesn t break Now if only Google would take the hint and develop their gmail app properly I wouldn t have to kvetch and moan that Kiwi should make one                     Dandy application Da'ood
I had trouble getting an incoming mail sound in a web browser I use Kiwi for that I use browsers so heavily that it s nice to have my mail in a separate app                 Sound effect EricFordConsulting
Okay so I really don t get the point It s just Gmail embedded into an app Sure it s okay as a free application but 8 dollars for the paid really don t see the point         Okay y2kbadbug
Works great with a single gmail account I m having a hard time justifying buying the paid version as it does what I need I m likely to purchase just to support the developer                     Great Functional App for Single Gmail account Keefer
Who on earth has only gmail Having an app to handle all email but can t handle iCloud email or your various IMAP email accounts for business etc is like being able to wear one really comfortable shoe but having to leave the other foot bare Too bad because the rest of the features seem pretty cool I ll not be upgrading and this Lite version will be going into the trash alas         If IMAP supported it would be the killer app serene and impatient
The first time I ran it it said I was not connected to the internet I was The second time I ran it my inbox was nothing more than an empty white window The next few times I guess it did what it was supposed to do but it appears to be nothing more than a native app wrapper around a web page context offering the same core UI as the web site so what s the point The web UI was the weak link that I thought this app was supposed to improve upon Yes it gives you a cleaner window for entering a new e mail but if the inbox browsing UI is the same I m not interested If it works consistently then the paid version might be worth it for the hot button links to other Google apps and accounts but with this same frustrating page based web UI I m not going to bother I currently use a competing product Postbox which has a much better UI but also contains one frustrating behavior that I was hoping this product wouldn t have The search continues         Some potential but what s the point KonaShark
I have started using this app a few months ago I am using it everyday                     Excellent app razesh18
Not having access to and suporting Chrome extensions is a real miss here This app could take a huge lead in the market if only these extensions were accessible that assist most people with email use and creation It is not worth the purchase until extensions become available         Extensions Domin8r7
What is the point of this app I can t believe the developers wasted their time creating an REAL APP that mimics a WEB APP when real appps can be so much more If I liked the Gmail web interface I d use the Gmail web interface But in fact like most of Google apps it is a cluttered mess This is basically like keeping a second browser window open but for some inexplicable reason it is a separate app Think of it as an extremely limited browser that can only handle Gmail Every other email client I ve tried is better than this In fact the only good thing I can say about this is that it took me a lot longer to figure out that the others weren t that great In this case it took about 15 minutes Downloaded it opened it used it for 10 minutes hated it deleted it Done Gosh maybe we can get an desktop version of Facebook that works just like Facebook next Can someone make an Indigogo for that LOL     Pointless TomA2
Been using KIWI light for about a month now I don t need the premium features so i haven t upgraded However even without the premium features the app is great for Gmail It updates everything right away it s so in sync with gmail I can do something on Kiwi and check gmail right away and everything is there that I ve done The application is awesome and worth the money If I actually needed the premium features I would have bought this already Invest in this app you won t regret it                     Awesome for Gmail Delilah Cole
This is a nice alternative to having Gmail open in a persistently open browser window but it s missing a basic F function If I need to search for a specific phrase or word in an email I can t because there s no F in this program That s the only thing stopping me from plunking down for the paid version             Needs a find function I miss F XStylus.
it s pretty much gmail just not in a browser                     gmail Mikeasdgjkvfg
So far this software is great I just hope one of the big software companies doesn t buy it and shut it down like some of the other apps I liked in the past For me it works better than outlook for mac I am still on the fence as far as buying the pro version but if they keep improving it I might just bite                 Good App for Gmail dogrunner
I was a Kiwi beta user and it was great But the full release 1 10 1 has several small annoying bugs the beta version DIDN T have and they ve been very slow to fix them while they tout all of the new features So if they move a bit faster to fix the bugs I ve reported all of them I ll give it 5 stars because it s a great app             Great app but Msmollynd
What else can I say it delivers what it promises all keyboard shortcuts are there all functions etc Love the fact that I can now have a separate app for all my gmail needs and not have to open up a browser for it                     Great app it does what it promises it works mvaldivia
Update 2 The redirect issue appears to be fixed as well as several other manageable bugs This is shaping up to be a pretty nice app If you re like me and don t like having Gmail and your Google Calendar share and get lost in the browser with all your other browsing Kiwi is pretty slick Great job Kiwi team Update Kiwi support advises that the redirect see below only happens once to close the loop and let them know that a downloaded copy of the app has been installed This is consistent with my experience I only saw this happen once Good eye catching it the first time I guess But it s still sneaky and not ok for Kiwi to grab a link to one of my attachments Have the app make a web service call on first launch There are cleaner and less surprising ways to do this Kiwi promises a privacy security statement soon on their web site I hope they find a different way to close the loop because this leaves a bit of a bad taste I hate having to have a browser window perpetually open for Gmail Other desktop clients have been disappointing Kiwi is simply a native app wrapper around the Gmail web app precisely what I want Launch Calendar like you normally would click the grid next to your username and pick Calendar and a second Kiwi window opens containing your calendar They re based on a Chrome webview but appear separate from your browser in the dock I ve died and gone to OCD heaven Two snags 1 Acknowledged in Kiwi release notes sometimes after having Kiwi open for a while I ll click on a link to view an attachment or a new window to compose a mail and I ll get a transparent window For some reason the contents don t render but you can see the window s outline Guess where the close button is and you can get it to go away but you ll need to quit and restart Kiwi to fix it 2 I only saw this once but following a link to an attachment in an e mail I saw a Kiwi controlled redirect page to take me to my own Google Drive content This isn t cool unless Kiwi has disabled HTTP server logging and why would they they re knowingly or unknowingly harvesting links to my own private content Kiwi is there a reason I need to use your redirection endpoint to follow links in my own e mail This is really not cool and will be the reason I stop using it So close but too good to be true                     Great but with a couple of catches bryandowen
I don t want it and I can t make it go away Dragging the app to the trash doesn t get rid of it How do I delete it No answers come up in FAQ     How do I Delete this App ChikinLady
This is the mail app I ve been looking for since forever I use a task switcher Launchbar and in the past had run Gmail in a Fluid window SIMPLY so that I could easily switch to mail with my launcher Kiwi gives me that and a whole lot more I ve lost NOTHING by leaving the browser behind Thank you for this great app                     Very Happy with Kiwi Light LKS_NH
Save your time and don t even waste time reading reviews or anything on this app     Waste of Time Garbage Don t Bother Frankiesun09
This app v1 9 10 does not seem to recognize all image file types when attaching a picture PNG It may just be looking for JPG Something is wrong I often want to email a screenshot from OS X Those files are in PNG format They are un selectable in the image attachment file browser             Useful I think Unused Farkoff
I like this A lot of mail apps do things disruptive to GMail add labels don t function well with how Gmail works This app gives me a nice webmail view of GMail but gives me sounds and notifications on mail I like it                 Nice Simple GMail Interface JenJenMI
In some ways it s more managable as an app like using Command H to make it disappear or rotating with other apps using with Command Tab But let s face it it s a one website browser just like all of those iOS apps Boasting that it does everything Gmail can do is kind of funny like we just discovered that the earth is round Ad blockers don t work in Kiwi so you re back to dancing squirrels rather than the beautiful blank space The Compose window is fantastic though it may be worth it just for this one reason But why is it three times the size of Safari at 153 MB It s sort of cool and I enjoy the separateness but I dont think I d pay for the full version since I have all of my accounts flowing into one anyway                 A one trick browser with some advantages Stochastic42
Does a great job for my work GApps email Considering upgrading to full app to be able to add my regular emails as well A couple requests 1 Calendar notifications Would love to have these in addition to email which I don t really use 2 Integration with Hangouts as well                     Top Notch Gyorgy Grell
Try the Lite version first It works well and is free I was hoping for some groundbreaking email app The interface looks like a browser version of gmail from the early 2000 s I ll stick with the stock mail app on my Mac         Not Impressed klshvr
I m still considering whether to upgrade to the full version but the Lite version is just fine It accomplishes a large part of the basic functionality I was looking for which is to have a standalone Gmail client without firing up a distracting full browser Even the full version is clearly not as full featured as MailPilot but who can afford that 25 one anyway I d rather get the core function for a lot less money Things that I m happy to see work paste for images all built in Gmail keyboard shortcuts Thing I m not happy to see Cmd F doesn t let you find text on a page the way that a browser based Gmail would I still have no idea what Keyboard shortcuts means in the Pro version and nobody from support has told me despite several attempts to reach them                     Does the basic job SilverSideDown
