Midnight Star

To start off the thing I really like about this game are the controls The game flows nicely and is not sluggish like most other competing First Person Shooters on the App Store The movement is very simple yet I would wish every game did it this way The graphics on this game are stunning and background looks amazing The aliens have nice movement with amazing animations The gameplay mechanics feel great and I would definitely recommend it to experienced players and first time players The most fun I have in this game is when Im outnumbered and fighting for my life and Im switching between weapons and fighting them in close quarters combat The story line is truly unique and action packed I dont want to say any spoilers but I definitely enjoyed the great story line Now the problem everyone seems to have with this game are the in app purchases I have bought the starter pack but I really did this to support the creators The game is very generous with the in game currency and you shouldnt find too many problems as long as you budget correctly Im very excited to see what comes of this game in the future and I will definitely hold onto this game for a while                 A great well rounded FPS

First off you cant move independently and second it glitches my upgrade was supposed to be 12 hours and I look and its at 2 days I would not recommend getting this game     Horrible

Update Kudos to Industrial Toys for the bold decision to remove the energy system altogether I never found it limiting as I have over 11M Elements that I had nowhere to spend them in and Im sure there are other hardcore players having more than that amount Weapon styles look amazing and are surely better than what other games tried to offer I used to play Infinity Blade 3 and all they could offer was some disastrous flood of oversaturated color tuning Keep in mind that both games are on Unreal Engine 3 Its true that 25M elements to style one weapon could be daunting to the more casual players but theyre just decorative so you dont really need to spend a lot on them I can see that they are targeted at advanced players who can easily get 200K elements per run Cant wait to try out the new guns and rebalanced gear Though existing high scores becoming obsolete is the only thing I dont like about the update Previous review I never really were into shooting games until I played Midnight Star and I must say that the fluid controls and intuitive interface are the game changers to me Headshots and melee kills are fun to do on a touch interface and the game gets really intense when youre in HardcorePsychotic modes For people who prefer traditional shooters with free roaming this might not be for you but this game is definitely entertaining to someone like me who was never into the genre before The game does have some freemium aspects in terms of upgrading your gear but you can still make considerable progress without maxing out everything Normal mode campaigns are really easy once you get the hang of it Energy system isnt really limiting at all if you have the skill to score higher as you always earn way more elements than you spend them on recharging Looking forward to new campaigns and new gear                 Fluid controls and interface Update

I upgraded my armory yesterday before I went to bed and when I got back on my armory wasnt upgraded and my character was back at being lvl 5 again What the hell           Auto save doesnt work sometimes

I like it so far Im normally not into rail shooters but Im actually having fun with this one Decent controls interesting weapons and a nice story The only thing I dislike is the freemium elements with timers and stuff Makes me unhappy to wait hours for a rifle to upgrade However unlike most freemiums I havent hit a paywall difficulty spike in doing the campaign twice normal and intense difficulties In short cool game Minus two stars for freemium elements Also this game is a battery killer on my iPhone 5s           Midnight Star

Lots and lots of fun The gameplay is great and challenging I dont recall ever being so engaged in beating a level It is a great idea to bring games like this into the mobile device world All other games are designed for consoles or computers and are very clunky on a phone I had no problems with this game Never crashed and always had an under 5 second loading timeon my iphone 4s Art was very cool and the story was fantastic Keep it up There needs to be more games like this on mobile devices                 Spectacular game

Fine game so far only played about 15 minutes but I dont like how you have to aim slightly below target           Aiming is weird

Best first person shooter in the App Store Great graphics and interface lots of fun sort of reminds me of Halo a little bit to the person that said bad graphics they obviously played a different game and are confused Definitely worth a shot its free theres things you can buy but its not required Usually I dont leave reviews but this one deserves it 5 stars                 Amazing

While you dont need to pay this games exorbitant costs to play the game unless you do youre left twiddling your thumbs to wait for all of your various items to recharge or finish upgrading over the course of minutes to numerous hours And wheres the fun in playing a game for 5 minutes and then waiting until tomorrow to pick it up again Id gladly pay 10 for the same game unlocked and rate it at least 4 stars But as it is this game isnt balanced for fun but rather for inapp spending at a high price As a fan of Alex Seropian since the Marathon days the story is bit lacking in depth or humor from his prior games as well Pathways into Darkness Marathon Halo Stubbs the Zombie The graphics are decent for an iOS game but nothing groundbreaking The competitive element of the online challenges is a nice aspect When you can play the game its pretty fun So in the end you have an onrails shooter thats decent unbalanced and while generally welldone doesnt push the stateoftheart forward like earlier games If anything the tiein with the graphic novel Midnight Rises is the most exciting thing this game does        PayToPlay ruins an otherwise decent onrails shooter

The games rampup of difficulty is a major problem Early levels are cake later levels are effectively impossible without serious grinding or imagine that paying for ingame currency Even with plenty of Tech Points though late game progression is seriously marred by the inability of the game to track multiple enemies and user input at the same time Shields will fail to deploy Taps in the horrible melee combat mode will get lost meaning you get hit This is especially troublesome since the games scoring system is predicated on you NOT getting hit a multiplier ramps up for every mob you kill without taking damage This means a minor tap midway through a level can ruin the attempt in some cases you may as well start over Weapon choice is also a problem For example theres a 50 cal sniper on offer but somehow in the future of Midnight Star theyve managed to develop one thats only useful for head shots and even then only works well when the enemy is a unhelmeted and b FACING YOU I mean seriously Like the scoring system this flaw has a onetwo punch aspect it wouldnt be so bad if it were possible to find the good weapons through an inexpensive trial and error process Thats not the case here Getting access to guns and upgrades requires the ingame currency thats scarce by design which serves as an enticement to buy some from Industrial Toys using REAL currency Like I said seriously flawed its free so theres that Id be a lot more annoyed if Id paid anything for it or bought ingame currency        Seriously flawed

It is point and click for the touch screen boring typical of any other first person shooterthe only difference is that that they spent less time to make it so that it wasnt so detectedeven if they did do that it wouldnt measure up to nova or dues ex or or or     Boring

The high point of this game is the storyline Between the graphic novel and the game itself I found myself consistently involved with the characters The dialogue is particularly snappy in the graphic novel The voice acting is terrific for everyone but especially for Captain Owens and Charlie Campbell What is that the first time he sees a colossus They dont want me there so of course Im going in on another scene The controls modified for mobile reminds me of The Drowning except more complicated many ways good but it takes some getting used to re shieldtarget switching targets reloading etc The real issue is pay to play I spent 10 on the starter pack because I feel like as much as Ive put into this game the developers deserve itbut I havent used any catalyst and Im going to try not to use any I resent having to pay to play a game I would prefer a pro version after the first few episodes for a premium price and then maybe some kind of minimum pay to play for so called multiplayer but waiting for a timer to countdown to play again ruins the momentum Ill stop playing at some point just because of that until more storyline comes out Its a bummer this has become the standard way to generate revenue Thank goodness for developers who charge a premium for a premium game without the pay to play Ill give it 3 stars because of it Edit As an FYI I have played through the campaign the Midnight Star graphic novel Ive competed in dozens of challenges and won many of them With all this I can afford one fully upgraded weapon and one fully upgraded shield To fight any of the more advanced enemies anything less than fully upgraded is relatively useless It will cost right at 50 to fully upgrade anything else Its more than a decent game but the economics with its IAP are completely over the top           Pay to play is the biggest issue

A good on rails shooter that gets becomes a serious grind after hitting the level cap The 50 player cap in challenges can make it difficult to get into them There is persistent sound bug makes it impossible for me to play with the volume on as it causes massive lag The devs are aware of it but no fix yet           Solid with a few flaws

This game was a disappointment The graphics were not nearly as good as they appeared on the screen shots It felt like that deer hunt game with those purple aliens waddling around and me shooting them The combination of cheesy visuals and weird artifacts and time travel made this game feel like Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy the game Totally made that up anyway a lot of the beginning was also stolen from mass effect with the bug things and all making it a rip off The worst thing is you have to wait or pay for energy IF YOU WANT A GOOD SIFI SHOOTER THATS FREE GO BUY NOVA FREEDOM EDITION     Mal

Midnight Star is a fun shooter for touchscreens It uses taps and swipes instead of dualanalog sticks which I suspect will be loveitorhateit so you have to try it for yourself The gameplay feels like Time Crisis or VirtuaCop but with more modern features an upgradable arsenal and a compelling story The initial campaign can be completed for free with a little patience and Im looking forward to more missions and weapons                 Have to play at least once

This game is very very good but it is missing two very important things One more solo missions Two PVP fighting This game has multiplayer but that is trying to get a higher score and not fighting against each other That would be very fun and would attract more players which the creators would benefit from because of the popularity We would benefit because of new stuff that is fun              Very Good But
