MULE is a ridiculously fun and addictive strategy game that combines real-time and turn-based styles as you battle for land and resources on a newly colonized planet. The game is easy to grasp but provides ...
I love being able to play MULE On my iPad but this version feels rushed For one thing tapping to place a mule often results in it running away because it isnt completely on the plot even though the character is Also it is too easy to sell too much product or buy too much because it doesnt go based on the up or down movement for speed in auctions the way the old one does Finally I miss the scoreboard from the original I loved seeing my character walk out with the others And even if you are winning you arent at the top I was winning but at the bottom of the list with only an arrow pointing to me              Great Start Needs Improvement
This is actually my first ever purchase from the App Store and it is well worth it Played beginner mode and no bugs and it is very similar to the original Welcome back Mule                 Mule Returns
In this update the colony price of Smithore went through the roof early in the game after a store fire event I mean 1000 for Smithore So the people who made Smithore cashed in and those who didnt couldnt afford to buy MULEs for several turns Game over man The economic system needs to be retweaked           Updated Economics Issues
Used to play this game in my Commidire64 Brings back old memories This latest update does a good job with setting prices based off of supply and demand Sometimes Smithore doesnt seem to price properly when depleted stays near 50 Overall I enjoy playing MULEagain                 Fun game
The game play is similar to the Commodore 64 version I spent dozens of hours playing as a kid Some differences are that I dont recall Smithore ever going up so high after cornering the market in the original Due to that I ended up with over 80000 in my first game played One bug that happened is that I won a land auction but it never took my money and never gave me the land Another weird thing is that when all the land plots are taken up it still goes through the procedure to pick a land plot albeit quickly All in a faithful port of the original and was fun to play My son has been playing it as well and likes it a lot I hope it teaches him the lessons about economics it taught me as a child              Game is playable but with a few bugs
I loved this game growing up on the C64 Great to relive this classic However buggy controls make it frustrating to play Worth a couple bucks if you just want to play a few times to walk down memory lane        A classic game on iOS
The update changed it so the human player is no longer guaranteed to hit the auction first as when all 4 players are trying to buy X Im not fond of that alteration Otherwise Ive really enjoyed having one of my old faves from back in the day to play again              Auction change with update
Not perfect but I find it hard to complain The original was such a great game when it was released decades ago that any attempt to faithfully port it to iOS is appreciated Very cool that one of my favorites computer games from my youth is back The game play still holds up after all these years as anyone who played the original knew it would Thanks to the developers for doing this port                 Good job recreating a classic
I LOVE MULE This is a great app and very very true to the original The controls are not bad they just take some getting used to Most of the design changes are upgrades but some tweaks are necessary to make this a truly great game 1 The most dire problem was the auction clock doesnt stop when buyingselling items One character never sold his goods because the other players took up all the time selling their own Smithore 2 It is difficult to know if I am at the trading price Many times I boughtsold things accidentally also many times I intended to buysell things and it just didnt happen because I had a difficult time determining where I was in regard to the trading point 3 Goes with number 2 I often soldbought too many units It is obvious great time and care went into this reproduction BRAVO Job well done I look forward to the multiplayer option I really hope it turns out well Updated review The new update is fantastic It makes auctions easier I quit losing MULEs which was fine in the original but very difficult on the phone sped up auctions skips auctions entirely and seemed to fix the value of crystite My only issue now is the computer sells off ALL its energy when it has an excess so it cant produce anything the next month I look forward to the next patch                 Love it
Overall the game is fun and true to the original Atari version However one of the recent updates built in spoilage of Smithore when a player accumulates more than 50 units Im not really sure scientifically how a rock spoils but ok Yes I am aware that was how the original game played However this severely limits the maximum price of Smithore Previous versions before the update would allow prices to get as high as 984 per unit A player could store up several hundred units over several turns and sell for major cash It was easier to achieve much higher scores Why doesnt crystite spoil above 50 units I understand spoilage for energy and food as these are naturally very perishable items Game would be much more fun if you got rid of the Smithore spoilage issue or built in greater profit in crystite say a max price of 600700 per unit           Smithore spoils the game
Skip this game The economics at is very different than the original The interface is horrible and you can not even sell a Mule back at the store It lacks all of the spark of the original     Not Mule
First I played mule on a c64 a lot Huge fan I have played 5 times with this version overall it is fun and I like it I will be playing this often Items Id like to see Auctions are hard to see the buysell price Ive also sold more units a few times I dont like the simultaneous turns It speeds things up but distracts me The random events are hard to read An alert view might be better I miss the characters walking up the screen like the original You knew who was leading           Good but can improve
Great graphics and artwork The game itself is full of bugs that didnt exist in the original Once the store ran out Smithore and mules but the price of Smithore never went up which meant the NPCs never sold theirs So there were no Mules for the rest of the game Once I restored a saved game and none of the goods my plots were producing populated my inventory the NPCs and I produced no goods every round These are show stopping bugs that could have been resolved with simple playtesting This is the year 2014 and youd have a better experience with the Commodore 64 game     Style over Substance
1 star for the price     Nostalgic for some lame for others
I really really wanted to love this game I loved the original on my Atari 800 back in the early 80s and even in emulation now But while the updated graphics are nice the gameplay is far short of the original The biggest problem is with the auctions What the original did with one simple but elegant screen this version does it with two You get a summary you have to read on the first on which you have to choose to buy or sell then you get the somewhat familiar auction screen But its not quite right First there is a gap between the settlers and the transaction bar making it difficult to see who is on the bar and who is above seller or below buyer Sellers have the bar below their feet while buyers have them above Awkward The old version had the settlers standing on the bar and the active settlers changed colors making the transactions more obvious Whats more once a transaction begun it could only be interrupted by the platers Not so now Getting there first doesnt lock you in A lowerranked player can interrupt the transaction and start its own These changes to the originals elegant design make auctions a mess Another issue is the pricing of MULEs The store price of a MULE is supposed to be twice the store buying price of Smithore not twice the selling price When the store is buying Smithore for 50 MULEs should be 100 not 170 There are other lesser issues Wheres the expert humanoid Multiplayer coming soon for 2 years Tapping to install a MULE is flakey Assaying results are a mixedbag better in some ways but worse in others Still its nice to be able to play a version of my favorite alltime game on my iPad The sound and graphics are generally nicer than what was available on 8bit hardware Also game play is much faster A full 12 month game doesnt take a full hour like it used to so thats nice           Sadly falls short of the original
Cute version of the original One star for lying about a multiplayer version coming Computer players are not very good Resource balance is horrible     Not bad
At this point the game is pretty solid and the major kinks have been fixed It still has an exceptionally long loading time and will need multiplayer to stay fresh for much longer              Still improving
It is a great time waster as it is very easy even on the hard mode It does have potential to be better It is very short though a max of 12 turns isnt really difficult Could use a better way to move about as with the multi when its released will be difficult to play as seeing everyone move at the same time              Pretty good needs work
Wow Thats all I have to say Excellent job bringing this classic into to present I hope Telengard is next                 Great refresh on a classic
This is as close as a faithful modern recreation of MULE As you are gonna get Gameplay is great and really brings me back to the original C64AtariApple versions Its a shame the developerpublisher has not marketed this better I feel like there should be a huge market for people looking for retro games and MULE is by far one of the most asked about that Ive seen in my days of working in video games I really hope the publisher can find its audience because it most certainly deserves one Great game Shame its been lost in the clutter                 Great game Why hasnt it done better
Great to see MULE However this app needs some work Being a huge fan of MULE on C64 and SPACEHORSE on PC I was super eager to buy this app With some tweaking and development this app could be the next Plants V Zombies Hopefully the developers will listen 12 rounds instead of 6 would be nice        Needs work
Mule Returns was rushed and underdeveloped This game lacks mechanics found in the original version Despite the edgy gameplay Mule Returns has stunning visuals and graphics It defiantly has potential as it sits I would rate 35           Game has potential
I was thrilled to find this Very faithful to the original and still lots of fun My kid is also playing it and hopefully will get a good education in the economic concepts Maybe a few bugs but after decades without a MULE fix Im as happy as a 1980s kid in an ATARI store                 Holy Nostalgia Batman
I love the game but hate it on my iPhone 4 When will a version optimized to run on an iPad come out           Love and hate
When a game is so full of gameruining bugs that it is literally fatiguing to enjoy or even win then it gets one star I could list the bugs ive found here and it would be a long list but the devs dont deserve my time What a sloppy decision to release this without adequate playtesting This classic and honored title deserves a better execution than this Edit so I just read downloaded the game since the recent update hoping to find an improved game that would change my review It upsets me to say this game makes me angrier than ever There are so many bugs that do not allow you to have a successful game and produce frustration If I could get my money back I would Dont be fooled by all the people leaving good reviews on the surface this game is beautiful and attractive and has great potential Just try to complete a game without the sloppy dev work getting in the way it wont happen     Horribly buggy
I am so glad that the classic dare I say ancient computer game MULE has successfully made transition to iOS devices in MULE Returns Even without a joystick it very much has the look feel and game play of the original one of the best computer games ever Once they add a multiplayer version it will be pretty much perfect                 MULE Has Returned
When is the promised 8bit graphic skin going to be released           You will get five stars when
Key area and game will either freeze or your goods could get sold off before you can respond Needs to be fixed before this one is a buy        Buggy auctions
5 bucks is a hefty price we are put a lot of hope in get new features with updates Remove the tutorials every time we play a game Add more events to standard like the original had your mule won a contest etc include the original sounds as options Multiplayer hope any time soon keep it up              It would be a great game wfixes
Come on guys I know that you know you need to fix the problems with the Mules auction prices everything in the options and the transaction price line and all of what the people have said and this is obviously the reason why you havent made the multiplayer yet you have lots of little glitches to fix it can be done so please get back to work on this project before another year passes           MULE Returns
I would give itself MULE five stars but the app as it is now about three The main problem is that I dont find the single player mode challenging at all In the two tournament games Ive played so far I won easily by becoming the energy baron by about the halfway point of the game and making a killing from that Has potential to be a great app but its not quite there yet really hoping that multiplayer gets added soon              Room for improvement
Still cant play the game with simultaneous turns happening all at once Too old I understand the need for a faster experience but us elderly players who think of it more as a slower paced chess match would love to see a retro option Im hoping this dream will become a reality someday I really want to play this game and not feel like I torched 5        Please make this turn based like the original
I used to play this on my Atari 800 maybe the best game of that decade To be honest the music was a big draw for me love the theme song Kudos to Rob Adlers redux Masterful Game play is a little different but still has all the elements Buy enjoy and be sure to play the theme through a large Bluetooth speaker cranked up Sweet                 Love it
Loved the original game and graphically this game is a huge improvement Unfortunately thats the only positive its got going for it They removed the strategy of turn order The controls could not be worse if they tried You move by clicking where you want to go How can you screw that up By not using pathing you literally run into walls non stop if you click where you want to outfit your mule So what you end up having to do is back up 4 pixels move down 6 pixels and then reclick your destination hoping your now clear of the wall Seriously did anyone play test this abomination before release Not worth the money even with the nostalgia factor     Save your money
As a game theory usability professional who loves the elegant economic balances of MULE I must say that I am disappointed that there are so many metrics that are way off in this app that could have been copied from the original You can play Planet Mule online an evolved version of the original and this has retained those economic balanced unlike this app The AI is also too weak comparatively always dumping extra food and energy cheap Why so few land auctions 1 per game Why dont store prices increase after I sell food for 200 Why is Crystite rarely over 100 Why are items allowed to hit 900 after a major shortage I have 20 more issues An options menu would drastically improve the game of Mule 1 Option to make the game actionbased 2 Option to change process of land grant from moving box to clicking actual plot of choice If 2 or more choose the same plot auction Auction loser chooses new plot 3 Option to remove single player luck events like pest attacks Make broad economic events that effect all or no events or 2 events SO MANY improvements that need to be made Very disappointing After 3 months I see no improvements           MULE
Im not going to talk about the principles of the game Readers can get that elsewhere and from writes of the original 1980s 8bit version The game mechanics of the original are all there This modern remake is a great reincarnation that has the original gameplay Id give it 5 stars but for some serious issues that can be fixed and I suspect will be fixed by the developers 1 Where is the game settings screen Nothing in system settings and no settings view in the game I can find It needs settings to a Allow users to control the audio volume independent of the system audio levels b allow users to disable the help info once they know how to play Having to click on those help bubbles 4 on some views Is annoying in the first round when I know how it works 2 Keep a get ready dialog the user must acknowledge before picking the next plot but allow it to be transparent Players need to be able to glance at the map and figure out which plot they want and it may be the first plot in the map to come available 3 The disasters dont appear properly random in where they occurred In several games I saw pests repeatedly hot the exact same square on the board In one game my one farm was hit with two pest disasters and the meteor strike Very bad randomization 4 It would be helpful to know which of how many rounds you are starting I know the main summary board that indicates the round on it is that mechanism but it becomes unclear as the fae progresses that this is the summary at the start of the round and not the summary at the end of the round 5 Interactions of resources on game play Its indicated in the hint that food determines how much time you have to shop outfit and deploy Its not clear what energy levels influence 6 Multipleplayer This is coming and the game needs that to be complete 7 Movingplacing It feels a bit kludgy how things are placed Too many times Ive left the outfitting shop without my mule being greater up for deployment I understand the developers are working this issue now Also placing the mule in the plot doesnt happen as simplyas it did in joystick land 30 years ago Maybe a double tap anywhere on the screen works as a click for the mule in whatever area the mule currently sits in        Not quite ready yet
As soon as I saw this I bought it MULE was my favorite game on my Atari 400 and this has been the one game that was hard to find anywhere else My family is learning to love this game too I cant wait for the multiplayer update Gameplay is like the original yes there are a few quirks on the iPad but overall it is a great update This game has the fun aspects of lemonade stand civilization and simcity in one place                 Lots of fun like it always has been
With the latest update the AI seems to be MUCH BETTER The AI could be a little tougher on standard The AI is awesomely ruthless on tournament which is great Keep up the good work Looking forward to multiplayer                 Awesome Game
2 SUGGESTIONS First the timer should stop when selling is taking place All too often I cannot sell my ore because the timer runs out while the second AI player is selling to the store Second the starting price for food and energy stay at minimums when the player has a monopoly on it but not when an AI player does It should be going up when the store is dry all 3 AI players are desperate for these resources All in all an excellent port of this classic game                 Great port of a classic
Are you ever going to add the multiplayer feature           Multiplayer
They did a great job of recreating this game I wouldnt mind having classic and an updated game modes You guys did a great job with this classic how about putting Lords of Conquest on the iPhone as well              Great Game
I currently still play the C64 version and this is a decent remake It took me awhile to learn how to buysell so I dont sell everything or over buy One of the drawbacks is moving your guy around With fat fingers and a small phone screen makes it difficult to see you guy move along On the iPad I bet it would be better Game play is true to the classic When in a meeting or boring seminar this would be a great distraction If you dont mind the little things this is a pretty much a fun game Not sure if worth the asking price but hopefully any future updates will enhance gameplay and ease of player movement If you really liked the classic this is a decent remake and fun to play              Honest review
MULE was one of my favorite games in the 80s for my C64 This app is very close to the original and the recent updates are a great improvement                 Like the classic but better
First off kudos to the team for reinventing a beloved classic Its got a new energy with the gameplay weve loved for decades I just have some constructive criticisms The noise when you tap the up and down buttons is irritating as hell The bar that represents your price in auctions should be at the exact line of the characters feet Not because thats how it was in the original but because it would make it easier to understand where you are in the auction Ive often sold at the wrong amount because I misunderstood where I was The drop downs during the production phase are totally unnecessary and are time wasters I know that adjacent plots give more produce etc When in the store tapping a room should make the character walk there instead of walking into walls because theyre making a beeline If I tap the mule pen my character should know to walk straight and then turn right When sales are made the cash amounts add up with slow animated numbers I like to see what my opponents have before I buy or sell so I can jockey for position The way it adds up now I have to wait and wait for the numbers to climb while time ticks away The transactions should be immediately represented in hygiene score not flipping over time It just confuses what is accurate When no plots are for sale I should have to tap to continue I currently have no time to examine the colony before I make my mule purchases These are criticisms yes but they dont in any way indicate a negative opinion of the game I just think these changes would make it perfect           Almost there
Great remake on one of the all time Atari classics Putting in multiplayer would make the game sell like crystalite after a pirate raid                 Good Stuff
I loved this game on my C64 and am delighted to be able to play it again The original game and original AI had some issues and I wanted some of that repeated here to recreate the old experience I havent seen the incredibly stupid AI that some have reported I play this game all the time LOVE IT That said there are small details that could improve but theyre small Visually the auction screens drive me mad because things arent aligned within their areas Adding the ability to end auctions early instead of having to wait through pointless ones is also a welcome change It could be tweaked a bit more as there are still some auctions that should be ended early when some players run out of money but still need energy or food when AI players decide not to sell their smithore Id also love to see an option to turn on 8bit style graphics Thank you so much for bringing this game back to life Wanna bring back Project Space Station as well Please questions contact enderFP              Brilliant Fun true to the original 80s game
One of the great games of my youth brought back to life 4 stars just for that But it really is pretty buggy and the AI isnt very competitive even when going humanoid on the tournament level Some are pretty easy to fix like stopping the npcs from selling during the last month              I love MULE
Your last update messed it up     Last update
Its the full MULE gameplay experience you remember from your Atari 800 brought to your iPad Its very impressive that the developers have managed to remain true to the original while updating all controls for the touch environment Well with the cost of admission              Excellent iOS take on a classic
MULE has a great deal of potentialsadly all unrealized potential Interface is awkward and poorly conceived gameplay is uneven and worst of all the tutorial is so thin as to be useless Much of gameplay is learned by trial and error Graphics are subpar even for a port or semiport from an Amiga I was hoping for a builder business competition game and MULE failed to deliver        Colossal disappointment
