Pick Me!

This is a useful ap for randomly picking students I was not able to import my roster from an excel spreadsheet which would be useful Once I have a class entered I would like to be able to copy the members into another class but you can only do this if you imported them from a file which I was not able to doThere is a design bug that results in the iPad info bar at the top covering the box you enter names in and the top class name on that screen If these two things were fixed it would be great        Pick me review

The randomness of drawing names and the ability to email results make this an essential tool that I use every day Thank you                 An essential tool in my teaching toolbox

Imported all my students from Dropbox flawlessly then worked perfectly on my iPad                 Works great

Ive wasted my money on several similar apps This one seemed perfect It randomly picks a student and records their success so I could use it as part of their graded work However I was unable to upload a class list from Dropbox Im not going to type in 150 student names The directions for importing a class are skimpy and inadequate When I click to upload from Dropbox I get a blank list even though the csv file is in Dropbox I saw that the developer asked a commenter to email them for a walk through which seems nice but why not just put that walk through on the website so I could use it The Dropbox cvs template offered on the website was useless It was just an example with no instruction or advice Do they really expect me to type in all the names and email address Several commenters have the same problem and yet no advice or instructions are available Some similar apps allow me to cut and paste a list of studentssimple easy successful every time I would use that app but it doesnt record correct responses        Good idea but useless

I like the idea of the app but am frustrated I cant share class lists between pick me and all here Why is the copy this roster only an option when developing the rostershouldnt it be after the roster is developed so you can use it with the other app or save it to drop box to use again Ver frustrating     Frustrated

I have sent 2 emails to the developer but no answer The app deletes a different class almost every day You can make back ups of the classes and use it but you lose all the info from that class When they fix that it will be 5 stars        Deletes classes

and sooo userfriendly Teachers at all levels should welcome the ease and effectiveness with which this lets you keep students tuned in and attentive And you never come off looking like the bad guy who is persecuting certain students because its the technology that does the picking                 Terrific App

Ive used a few of these apps This is exactly what I needed I can call on students randomly AND quickly place students in partners or groups with the app                 Useful

I recently purchased the Groups addon functionality and am a bit disappointed I have not found that the groups can be edited if desired members switched around once the random groups are generated and also the Spin Me feature is not availablethis would be very helpful to have to randomly pick which group is selected to report out envisioning using this with POGIL groups           Groups add on a bit lacking

with more students harder to use might be okay for classes with about a dozen students     not good for larger classes

I like the idea and ability to remove students as they answer correctly when participating However I feel that this app requires an update It looks like a program from the 90s           Good concept

Infuriating When the class list is loaded this app is primitive but a good tool The trouble is that after a successful upload of one class list from Dropbox no other lists upload properly I get blank rosters every time despite the app telling me they have been successfully uploaded Try a different app if you like me cant waste precious hours fooling with the import and dont want to enter every student by hand     Draws

This is much better than using Popsicle sticks to informally assess students Easy to setup and simple to use I like the having the photo option                 Excellent

I use this app almost everyday to randomly choose students and track their correct and incorrect responses It lets me know who needs more help and who gets it The kids also love the suspense of waiting to see who PickMe picks so it keeps everyone engaged and on their toes I definitely recommend this app to all teachers                 Great App for Teachers

I really like this app and enjoy using it My one suggestion is this I am a music teacher and see my kids for a short amount of time several times a week I didnt realize that each day when I opened a class I would have to start a new session and all the names would be put back in I pick a few kids for activities each class and wish the removed names would stay removed until I get through the whole class even if it is over a period of days or weeks If I only draw 2 or 3 kids per class time and it throws all the kids back in each day it kinda defeats the purpose But I really do like it and it is easy to use I just wish it was more customizable           Great with 1 suggestion

I am disappointed that I just typed all my classes in and it will not go to another device Surely I dont have to type it in each device I am going to use           putting it on more than one device

The most recent update allows me to import rosters using csv files which was lightyears faster than manually entering them It is also supposed to fix the constantly disappearing classes If my classes stay in place Ill revise this to five stars but even if they dont its now supereasy to add them back in I love the ease of use the randomness of the Spin Me and the ability to remove students from the spinner as they answer correctly or to choose to leave them in for continued practice This is a fabulous formative assessment tool              Big improvement

This app desperately needs an update I have stopped using it now because 1 It sometimes doesnt remove students that have already answered even when the option is selected 2 Student scores dont display sometimes to see them you have to close app and open againor go back and select class again This app is Not worth a dollar now     User

This is a great concept but should be easier to use The option to paste a class list in as text should be available instead of either adding as a csv or adding one by one Or import from an apple app such as numbers or pages I have not used this yet simply because I dont have time to go in and add 200 students one by one Until this feature is fixed the app is not worth the money        Needs Updated

I like the premise of the app However my rosters appear on my iPhone but not on my iPad Doesnt seem logical that I should have to create the rosters a second time        Why is class roster not showing up on my iPad

I like this app I was never a fan of popsicle sticks or cards for picking students I really like how this app helped me be random and get away from the tendency to throw some students soft balls I also like how this changed the expectation in class to all students being ready to share an answer The glitch is that when viewing the class list the bottom student is off screen so cannot be selected This is only needed to add comments or pictures To get around it you can change the order to by name or grade but still a pain and should be fixed           Nice but a glitch

I bought this app with the hope that it would keep students accountable while also reminding me to call on everyone not just those students who raise their hand Set up was a breeze on my iPad even though I entered each class name manually I didnt use the import feature Once you set up a class list you can duplicate the same list for other classes as well The only thing I now wished this app had was a way to produce and email a cumulative report across numerous classes As a fifth grade teacher most of my classes have the same students and having a cumulative report would make communicating with parents much easier Otherwise great job on this app I am glad I bought it              Great app

This would be a great app if it had an import option Teachers do not have the time to type 180 names into the app There should be an option to import from a data base file        No import option

Once I figured out how to get my class lists downloaded off Dropbox they have a sample on their website or email them it was so easy My students LOVE when I use this app in classthey ask me to integrate it every day                 I finally love this app

I absolutely love this app Not only has it made my classroom more equitable but it has also put data in my pocket for RTI The kiddos love it and ask me to use it every time we sit down together Genius                 Love it

I have been working to add my first class for over an hour and still have nothing Im using Dropbox and have followed the instructions even reloaded the app because new class lists showed up in Dropbox but not in the app Now its telling me there was an error loading the file Id love to use this app but its not been user friendly for me at all        Time consuming set up

I like that I can call on students randomly and mark their answers correct or incorrect I use the data to give them a grade at the end of each marking period And as I stated in my title uploading my rosters was easy HOWEVER I would like to see some other features texttovoice helps students to know that I am not picking on them and I would like to have the option to remove students from the selection list even if they get the answer wrong              Uploading was easy

When attempting to import the csv file from dropbox and error is thrown no other way is provided to enter your roster with the exception of manually not worth it when you have 175 students App looks appealing but pointless Already wasted 2 hours attempting to get it to work Wouldnt use it even if there was a fix at this point     Cant Import classes useless

Pros A nice way to track student responses Ability to remove from the list students who have answered Cons Cant import student pictures Big problems with screen orientation switches the edges of the app are off the screen and it seems fixed in portrait mode Thus the 2stars Comments Made for grade school asks for parents email address        Great idea problematic implementation

This app does not rotate on my ipad screen which makes it difficult for me to use in my classroom           Teacher

I like the concept and it is very user friendly to set up my classes I really dislike that the app wont flip with the iPad It makes it difficult to use with my bluetooth keyboard case           App wont flip

The App is nice because it takes up less space then having popsicle sticks for each class However what I really dont like is there is no ability to remove absent students for the day and this is especially frustrating when you want to create groups throws the whole thing off when an absent student is included in the group IF they could fix that I would give this app all 5 stars           Good but no way to account for absences

Thank you for this very useful app I love that I can email myself a copy of the list after finishing a session It only took a couple of minutes to figure out how it all works Adding classesgroups and individual students was fun Keep up the good work                 Very helpful

I visit and give lessons in 18 different classrooms This give me the opportunity to be fair and consistent in who I call on in each room making sure I dont neglect or call on some students and just call on those who always are raising their hand I havent figured it adding the names through drop box yet and have manually entered the class lists At this point that has just been easier for me to do              Great for whole school staff

I wanted a way to choose students without bias whether for a privilege or for a random order to hear project presentations This is the way to do it I couldnt figure out Dropbox but I manually entered my students names by class and it took me only a few minutes to get all my classes loaded Easy I always have my iPad so I will be using this app often                 random selection easy
