Drag and drop PNG images from Finder into the app to reduce their files sizes. This tool is an excellent GUI wrapper around command line tools for PNG compression. Why do you need PNG Compressor: Optimize ...
I have a Photoshop plugin that compresses to about 85 without significant loss of quality but it s slow and crashes frequently This is inconvenient being that I have thousands of files This compressor only takes off a few kb about 5 Yes so to reviewer ToNekat my files we re not compressed and this app did little         Very little compression tianma81
This simple little easy to use program saved my job When I switched over to Photoshop CC they left something out of the program that compresses PNG files There is no fix so I went in search of something as 90 of my work is PNG files Seriously this program reduces these images to where they need to be LOVE it I hope you never stop updating I don t know why some have problems but that s true with everything Sometimes there s other programs that can interfere Otherwise this works and I HIGHLY recommend it                     Lifesaver 5 Stars Miss-Lexy
FROM 2MB to 1 9MB I could of just saved it as JPG     Worthless MJB77777
I had a bunch of web graphics ranging from 50KB to 900KB when I ran this on my images I got no noticeable change in over 50 of the images I got a 1 2 KB reduction in the rest     Did not compress well 1 compression at best Thomashornb
Everything I threw at it came back the same file size So it did nothing There s not even a quality setting     0 reduction AJediKnight
I use Photoshop Elements and it doesn t do ANY compression when it saves PNG files so the resulting files are laughably big often several TIMES bigger than they need to be Before using this app I would re open the files in GIMP one by one and re save them to compress them which is awkward and time consuming Now that I have this app I can compress files in seconds Kudos to the developer for making such an effective and easy to use app To all the people complaining that it doesn t compress your files did it ever occur to you that maybe they re already correctly compressed                     Great app ignore bad reviews TonNekat
it didn t work not at all     it didn t work not at all 뜡
I was trying to lower files size of 1500 images for my iOS App I found this tool and I love it It compressed my files about 20 to 50 percent and image quality was not changed at all Very easy to use interface simple intuitive One recommendation would be to able to adjust quality of image Thanks                     Saves big time Xceko
Works great Zippy workflow nice options for saving really can t live without it my server thanks you Vadim                     BEAST V0lt@88
Compressed a bunch of PNGs I made in Acorn most decreased in size by around 20 Improved my Google Insights score signficantly This app does exactly what it promises and worked well for my needs                     Perfect JCH Reviews
After throwing 38 png images at this app varying from 40 MB to 154 KB the majority were only reduced by 10 The 40 MB image was reduced by 30 If the image is intended for the web this app needs to be able to compress to 2 MB             The benfit is marginal Aaron J Garcia
I am not sure what is going on with some for the negative reviews On my first try I went from 193kb to 66kb retained the transparency and there is no visible degradation at all This app is quick and easy and works well for the price in my opinion Thanks                     Works fine Kerygmata
It doesn t strip PNGs of Fireworks data In fact it doesn t appear to reduce PNG file size as all If so the reduction is negligable This is a waste of money and is nowhere near as good as other tools you can find that actually do what this claims to Search a bit and get another tool this one won t satisfy and IMHO should be pulled from the market as it simply doesn t work as advertised     Not worth the money I FEEL LIKE YOU STOLE MY 2.99
Bought this threw two PNGs into it which I had been able to reduce by hand at least 10 in Photoshop by tweaking the color palette and 0 reduction Not recommended     Meh MrTact
Waste of money Used PNGs created by pixelmator     At best 3 compression Ya Biologia
Before I bought this I honestly thought that it wasn t worth the 5 However after duplicating my 18MB picture folder and simply dumping it into this app within 5 minutes I shaved off 3MB You can change the settings so that it saves the pngs as the same name so you can drag it back into the application you re using it for and replace the old ones Now my iPhone app is farther away from the WiFi only 20MB limit which will help my app sell more                     Better Than I Thought Uh Yana
There are a number of free terminal mode or web based png compressors and a few stand alone ones here on the app store I ve tried all I ve found and yes the terminal based fast ones are faster running that this one but it can be a bit of a pain especially if you aren t used to scripting The web based compressors are fairly painless and they do work but this app is faster easier and compresses better than the web based versions I ve found A caveat I m only compressing photoshop png s so my results may not be yours But for my needs today PNG Compressor fit the bill An example mostly transparent image orig 196kb another app store program 196kb web based 133kb this app s result 76kb                     did exactly what I needed 12buckleshoe
The application touts the ability to minimize PNG image file sizes but in my battery of tests upon download it was unable to minimize any of them thus proving itself useless In short it does not accomplish the one task it claims to accomplish     Touts only feature and does not accomplish it DVkid
5 stars good It would be even better if it can compress jpg gif as well                     Good Jan Van
I use Adobe Fireworks to create a lot of my interface images for my iPhone apps I like it a lot better than Photoshop for simple image manipulation That being said anyone who works with Fireworks KNOWS that Fireworks saves out PNG files in their own proprietary data embeded in the PNG headers which is compatible to the PNG spec any Fireworks png is will within the PNG file type specification These files can be quite a bit larger than necessary for an application distribution binary So i decided to try out this tool I did a quick test on my iPhone application s 512x512px icon Fireworks produced a 3 5 mb file I wanted to see what a head to head crush would do using this tool and the good ole commandline pngcrush reduce brute which is my go to utility coupled with a handy dandy bash script Original File 3 5mb PNG Compressor Result 3 3mb Terminal pngcrush utility 0 4mb As you can see the pngcrush utility in the terminal produces a substantially smaller filesize on the order of magnitude of 15x better than this utility I d love to see this App add the option for pngcrush and perhaps crush levels in the future All in all it does what it says it does but not nearly as efficiently as you can get form some command line wizardry I like the interface and the ability to frag multiple files to the window but there s not enough power under the hood for me at this point Here s a quick tip for thouse of you who would know how to use it bin sh for png in find name png do pngcrush reduce brute png png png crushed png rm png mv png png crushed png png done         I REALLY want to like this app but pngcrush does a better job MarkRick
Ok so my orginal file is 557 KB and after compression I got it down to 537 KB i wish it could compress it more not 2 happy             not to impressed Yarek_M
I compressed over 200 images in under 20 seconds Contrary to what another reviewer said all of my alpha transparency was preserved One thing that I would like to see added is a field that shows the total savings of all the images in the queue If it had that I d give it 5 Stars                 Does what it says quickly jeremysanchez
Converting a 24 bit PNG to 8 bit isn t my idea of lossless compression especially when it doesn t even let you specify the matte color seems to just turn everything up 100 when you have semi transparent pixels in your image     Looses alpha transparency Bart Szyszka
Three features I d like to see added 1 A simple slider that lets me increase the thumnail size 2 A summary info window that explains what was removed and how much was saved on a batch operation 3 A preview of the before after and the ability to push a button to optimize It took me a second to realize that just dragging them to the window would actually perform the operation Good start though just happy to be rid of the command line                 Nice Simple Room for Improvement trackpad
