This is a simple app but the developers haven t put much any thought into the way the app is designed I know for 99 cents I shouldn t expect much but the UX is quite confusing The use of prefix and suffix is odd rather than just filename and every time I use the app I have to re guess at what the proper number padding number is in order to get three digit file names hint it s not three The fact that you have to specify a folder for the file output and it moves the files from the source folder to the new folder rather than making a copy is just bizarre I ll be looking for a new tool     Needs some improvements jasondunn

This app changes names of file It has some options for how to go about changing the prefix and suffix as well as an option for changing the starting number in a batch and other options It is quick and simple to use I dont know why a lot of the other apps out there which claim to do a similar thing are so expensive Cant beet the price for this app thanks                     Nice app Does exactly what it says Phawphaw

Its quick and easy but I can t choose what to change its all or nothing I want to add PDF suffix to the end thats all but it changes the whole name and I dont want that         Disappointing CTheorem

I have a bunch of files that I know are JPEG files but I see them as Unix files Just wanted to add the jpg after the files and keep the prefix name This app changes the name of the files to 1 2 3 4 at once     does not explain well what it does aycajr

I expected to be able to append a name to an existing file name either as a prefix or a suffix The documentation wait what documentation er I should say the look of the screen would lead one to believe this might be possible But no when you rename the file it renames the entire name with nothing left of the original and no obvious way to keep any of it I hope I m wrong Perhaps there is some hidden way to do this but I could not find it Moreover the old files are simply deleted so there is no preservation of the original file name at all this can be a biggie so watch out Luckily I tried it out on a small group of files I could reproduce If you simply want to rename a bunch of files to something sequential with a suffix and or a prefix this app will work fine for you But if you want to keep a copy of your origina files intact or simply add a prefix or suffix don t waste your money         Seriously wdavidbrown

I had been using NameChanger but it began freezing after the upgrade to Mavericks Rename a Batch does just that with no frills or learning curve It s perfect for renaming image files before you start working with them in iPhoto or Pixelmator Pays for itself the first time you use it                     Works exactly as expected fast and intuitive Schmotown

This update fixed a lot of the issues that I had with previous versions This new version makes it really simple for you to know exactly what order the files will be renamed in and seems to work a lot faster It also helps that it s much better looking than the orignal design A few people have made negative comments on this app because of its lack of features or failure to do exactly what they want But if they read the description they would see that the app does exactly what it advertises which is renames batches of files It has a very simple feature set a very low price and does exactly what it advertises This app has saved me hours in renaming PNG sequences for animations and images for galleries                     Really Great Update Trey Richards

There is no way to replace existing naming It looks nice and everything but doesn t suit my needs at all     This wasn t what I was hoping for riznotch

Read the other guy s review that this program doesn t work well adding folders but bought it anyway Use Command A to select all files in a folder Takes 2 seconds Works great and much faster than using Automater Also suggestion to APPLE INCLUDE THIS PROGRAM in your OS Ridiculous that it s not available for all the work we do with photos on MACs Update Take a little of that back The program re orders all of your photos so that they are out of order based on date modified Nightmare for going through photos in chronological order using Finder                     Works Great johnbruns

If you use the program in an exact way it works great but if you don t it is terrible I tried selecting a folder of files like it suggests and it messed up the order of my files and added an extra file If you go into the folder and actually add the files in it and not the folder it works and lets you order the files Also it says you can drag and drop files somewhere but i have yet to find out where that actually works             If done correctly JoshuaNovak919

Love the simplicity of this app but it renames files in no order therefore mixing up my entire folder of images I just want it to rename the files in the order that they re in Now I have to go back and try to reorder them one by one essentially being completely counterproductive         Re orders files Not cool Horseshoe86

I thought this was a replacement tool for example replace foo in a filename with fubar Nope all it will do is replace the filename with a single name Wasted a buck     Terrible slorunner

There are better apps that do the same thing at the same price With this one you are stuck with their default rename renumber scheme No good if like I often do you just need to replace a single character string in a batch files say changing jonescompany 001 jpg to smithinc 001 jpg I suppose if your files were completely unnamed say photos straight out of your camera this app would be useful But there are better options         You re stuck with their scheme MH-or
