The SciFri BE is now available as a free download on Apple Store for both iPhone and iPad owners.The application is supporting English language. It weighs in at only 2.6 MB to download. The new SciFri BE app version 2.11 has been updated on 2014-11-27. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. I have it on my iPad and it continues to crash It worked fine when I loaded it originally several months ago Does not help to delete and redoenload Crashes

Great program but OK app I struggle to understand why I cant seem to find a way to search Seems like a basic user need but does not appear to be supported Why no search

The software does a horrible job in keeping a bookmark of playlist frustrating to use even downloaded content

There are the occasional bugs but it works fine most if the time Love the content Great app

I love the show Science Friday but this app is awful to the point of being unusable It cuts out in the middle of stories for unpredictable lengths of time and sometimes also removes that story from your playlist so you cant return to it without first tracking it down and readding it to the playlist Ive also had instances where it spontaneously plays 2 stories simultaneously Overall an exercise in frustration serious buffering problems

Thank you for this app It makes creating a playlist and listening so much simpler I love the ability to go straight to video Great improvement over podcast

This sci fri program worked excellently when it was on NPR now it rarely works on this TERRIBLE APP app A WONDERFUL PROGRAM THAT I CAN RARELY EVER HEAR ANYMORE BECAUSE THIS APP IS TERRIBLE PLEASE GIVE IT BACK TO NPR TERRIBLE APP PLEASE FIX IT

Have never had a problem Can select from archived audiosvideos based on topictime and listen at my leisure Always interesting or if I select poorly I can hit Stop and choose again Ingratiating hosts Works for me

I find that it does what I want in a fairly straightforward way I dont have any problems S with it and have loved using it One of my favorites I have loved the show for years and this is great Love the app so much

This app crashes 50 of the time Of that remaining 50 half the audio stories I try to listen to do not load And above all else this app cannot run in the background while I do other things on the phone so the app is completely useless to me Not good

Crashes constantly fails to stream un intuitive design Basically the one thing I try to do listen to scifri doesnt work 50 of the time I wish scifri was still available to stream from NPR News app Avoid if you can

The app used to work and be up to date Now it does not even work muchless is it up to date The app generally crashes at startup or once the show clips are loaded Its so disappointing considering how much I love the show just not the very broken app This app has had negative reviews for at least 6 months so I hope a new bugfree version will be released soon Crashes at Startup Does Not Work

I love listening to SciFri It is my regular lazy weekend morning ablutions soundtrack When I then go downstairs for breakfast I would like to listen to it while browsing social mediabut the apps sound play doesnt stay live when it isnt the app on the screen That would be an easy and valuable modification to addtons of other apps do persist eg NPR That being said what a wonderful and free of charge resource Sci Fri is Thanks for the decades of intelligent news Not for the multitasking listener

I love SciFri but this app is unreliable My biggest problem with it is the playlist When an audio file buffers sometimes it drops off the playlist all together Its very frustrating to be in the middle of a podcast and have to scroll through add it back then slide forward to where it left off all because the buffering glitches Also please change the playlist functionality All users may not want a certain podcast to be taken off the list when theyve finished listening to it Let the user delete it themselves Fix these problems and its a fivestar app Right now its just great in theory and not so much in reality Great showApp is a different story

This app doesnt work at all Every time I try to use it I get a Media Error that the particular segment does not exist Does not work

I cant get anything to play in the ap I always get the this content will be available 3 hours after airing message even when its been well beyond the 3 hour time frame Not sure if is due to being located outside the US or not Non functional

iPhone 5 user Love the content Hate the app I cannot get shows to download consistently to the playlist and then when I do get the content it disappears randomly Very frustrating Please fix this mess Not good

I just discovered your website and wanted to listen to the content through this app I of course assumed the app would be organized as well as the website was However when I opened the app I was dismayed that I could only search in chronological order There arent areas for different topics or even a search box Also the home page never loaded for me Design

I really enjoy Science Friday but streaming shows using this app has been frustrating Like many others have reported there are serious buffering issues I wish that the NPR app still streamed the show I did not have any issues with their app Great show but app has serious buffering issues

I used to really like this app especially since its SciFri is a staple in my week Occasionally it wouldnt workbut the last 2 weeks it hasnt played ANY stories due to media error Very frustrating I have reinstalled restarted my iPhone etc and nothing works Please fix this or else Ill be forced to NOT donate to NPR anymore If you have to make it a paid app which works Used to like itbut lately it wont play ANY stories

I LOVE Science Friday but this app is not up to par It buffers very frequently and for long amounts of time when streaming via 4G It also randomly cuts off the podcast in the middle of segments so I have to go back and add it into my playlist again

I love Science Friday but this app needs work I keep getting blown out of a story while listening which is then removed from the playlist so I need to go hunting to find it again to readd to finish the story Also would benefit from being able to reorder playlist Needs fixes and improvements

I love this show my absolute favorite of NPR However this app is terrible Unless you download each and every story too time consuming the app constantly stops midstory buffers endlessly then drops the story from playlist One should not be forced to download each story for this app to function properly At this point it is basically useless Could use playlist reorder functionality as well App constantly buffering unable to listen to feature

Ive been using the app for some time It would routinely delete my downloaded playlist when I hadnt listened to it yet Now I get nothing but media errors trying to listen to or download anything I tried deleting and reinstalling the app with no change I love the ability to quickly review the topics each week and download only the ones I want to listen to most but not all so prefer this app over the podcast that downloads entire episodes only as far as I can tell plus commercials Great concept needs work

I dont know whats up with all the negative reviews This is a great app You can either listen to the entire episodes or individual segments Just download the ones that you want to listen to For those of you who are having difficulty maybe should you just read the frequently asked questions on how to use the app and it might make some sense Wake up people This is a great app Stop complaining

I have an older version which seems to work fine This one just crashes New version crashes

I love the podcast so I switched to using iTunes podcasts instead App kept deleting all downloaded content without warning and sometimes when I paused it the play button would not work at all Also sometimes the app would stop and delete itself in midplay spontaneously Not worth all the trouble Glitchy as hell

I love that this app is available I do enjoy the wide variety of stimulating topics But For such a smart app from some very brainy people It doesnt seem very well managed Constant data error messages Talks not loading and program pauses while process is loading content Why would I sign up or pay for an app that does not even run right when it is free So so but could be lovable app

The app works wonderfully on the iPhone 5 I mean no more crashes and updated stories Its so wonderfully intellectually stimulating Since the update
