I paid for the full version and then about 30 minutes into reading an imported PDF the app prompts me to pay another 3 99 Annoyed I paid the fee However there are so many words in the PDF that say not found when I try to retrieve the definition Also when trying to turn the pages it is almost impossible I understand that the text goes from right to left but the next page motion just doesn t work Also there are no page numbers on the thumbnail view so whenever I turn the page it is difficult to find the exact page I was on before Works all right with the books that come with it but not well with imported PDFs         Does not work well with imported PDFs Jsaternu

Wakaru is vital for my work in Japan As a staff person at a local city Board of Education office it s helpful to read PDFs and articles online in Japanese about teaching English in Japan Using the Wakaru app for these reading tasks makes it possible The main app and optional PDF reader have long ago paid for themselves by saving me time and making many Japanese articles and documents accessible to me It s a definite 5 star app and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see dramatic improvement in their reading skills and understanding                     One of my TOP 3 tools for learning Japanese and MCK0415

This is everything I could possible need to begin reading and studying Japanese as a beginner Some unique key features included in the app are the ability to back up and export your data via multiple options the ability to open documents to read using iTunes and email attachments the ability to highlight example sentences to copy to your study cards and this app s ability to recognize word conjugations and endings That s not only amazing but extremely convenient You can also easily cross reference words using the most popular Japanese English and Japanese Japanese dictionaries To reply to another reviewer the browser works perfectly fine for me and does not open in iPhone mode on my iPad Air 2 My only complaint with the app is the slowdown that occurs when highlighting words after enabling all of the menu word selection options This however is a minor inconvenience in comparison to the functionality of Wakaru In the future I would love to have the ability to enter flash cards from the dictionary and custom typed flashcards in the Flash cards section of the app Currently you can only add word to study via highlighting them in eBooks or on the web I would also love to see more features involving the cross functionality between the other supported Japanese dictionary apps After Anki this app takes the prize in my opinion for most valuable Japanese study tool resource Thank you so much Miho I ll continue to keep this review updated as the app and iOS itself updates                     Absolutely Amazing スッライ

One of the few products of its kind Very intuitive and practical approach to learning Japanese Great idea and dictionary but poor execution Browser loads everything in phone mode even on my iPad pro Safari on the other hand doesn t Should be an easy fix by modifying the user agent The word phrase selector is frustrating as it fails to highlight most of the time The browser back and forward button just doesn t work most of the time It has potential but it has some ways to go before it s usable Hopefully the developers didn t give up from poor sales         Only game in town Eijh

This app is perfect for anyone who wants to polish their Japanese Not only does it give you easy access to extensive libraries of Japanese literature you can generate customized flash card sets while reading and add your own notes to the flash cards which is nice I still find myself moving a lot of my vocab drills to other Japanese study apps like KanjiBox but studying wouldn t be nearly as fun without the context this app provides                     Amazing sylvanmyth

The app lets lets you select Japanese stories available in the public domain The built in Japanese dictionary helps with quickly learning challenging words The character selection sometimes isn t precise on iPhone which causes frustration and keeps it from being a 5 star app                 Good for reading Japanese gooflee

I recently bought this app and had a problem downloading books After reporting the problem the app developer responded really quickly and even told me when the update to fix the problem would be available Since then I ve been downloading books from Aozora bunko and reading stories such as Cinderella and other stories in Japanese The book databases can be sorted by difficulty so it is easier to pick stories that are more appropriate for your level or the reading level you are aiming for I really enjoy the flash card and dictionary features too since I can read and look up any words or kanji I don t know as needed as well as have vocabulary list for the books I m reading                     Great likesRPGs

This is a wonderful tool for practicing Japanese It has a lot of e books available at different levels of difficulty I also love the web browsing feature which lets me look up words on webpages I often use it for reading emails from Japanese pen pals There is also a great feature that lets you add words you don t know to a list so you can practice them as flash cards It s a great app all in all and I use it a lot                     Very Useful FaeDreamer

This is a fantastic and well thought out reader The ability to quickly build a flashcard set and the built in SRS are fantastic I do have a suggestion though It would be nice if you could use iCloud to sync your books and flashcards across multiple devices I use an iPhone and an iPad and having to use two different studysets on two different devices is driving me nuts Also it s nice that you can add books via the pasteboard but being able to drop text files in from iTunes would be better for large novels Still the best app of its type                 Great learning tool Some suggestions for improvement anarchyx34

Nearly perfect rikaichan like browser and aozora ebook reader Absolutely worth buying I have only one thing I really wish were different I wish there was an option for continuous scrolling in ebooks As it is now the Lookup Panel often obscures the selected text especially at the bottom of a page If we could scroll with the panel open as it is in the browser it wouldn t be an issue Also a lot of people just like reading that way                     Awesome Battlecakes

For what the app does and is capable of this app is definitely worth 5 stars However considering this is a moderately priced app the interface should be more intuitive capable and attractive minus 1 star On top of that in vertical reading mode the rightmost column is often blank as in that single row of text doesn t show up minus 1 star If the app interface and more importantly that major readability issue were fixed this app would be incredible             Good but text is sometimes hidden nhoernig

This is probably my most essential japanese study app Right up there with imiwa and skritter This is so good because of the ease of use on ios and the fact that it drives the user to learn real sentences and grammar I wish the library import was better rename books better selection less junk the ui made more sense App ui Sometimes the select tool bugs out and doesn t work properly Very rare occurrence though Really good I use it every day on train                 Simple but essential Keith-o

I really enjoy this app so far especially the aozora bunker e reader features That alone has helped me tremendously in reading more Japanese texts However I would just like to clarify somethings that I feel weren t apparent to me at the time of purchase The app has 3 features accessible from its main menu a browser an e reader connected to aozora bunko and study lists The standalone browser can access websites and use its features like define and add to wordlist But it doesn t integrate with safari as well as I would like it to Maybe this is a difficulty created from Apple s end In safari you can only define a word and not add it to a wordlist As a matter of fact that s the only thing you can do outside of the app itself Maybe this is only important to me but I prefer to keep these vocabulary words to review later I m finding it a critical default that I can t add to wordlist outside of the app If I want to do that I have to copy the URL from safari paste it into wakaru s browser highlight the word and then add it to a wordlist It would be great to have the add to wordlist functionality available everywhere ie safari and mail In any case I look forward to this app and it s improvements             Good but lacking tsmashace

Initially got the app to replace Skybook another Aozora bunko reader but it is only for iphone when I bought an ipad Since then the author of the app has included extra dictionaries support in the app Also the app also reads and recognizes Japanese text files I couldn t get the ibook to recognize the text in order to use the dictionary in ibook This has made reading Japanese a very good experience on Wakaru The author is also quick on replying for comments and suggestions Overall a very good app for reading books and surfing Japanese websites                     Great app and it is getting better and better Fuzzhouse
