I have subscribed to Astronomy Now for several years I did this online using an iPad For the most part it was good This year they decided to modify the app I want the old one back The old one was like the magazine and could be navigated like the magazine The new one has a new interface which is not like the magazine Also with the new app I can get to previously purchased issues If I want to see those I have to keep the old app so now I have two Bring back the previous app The old adage is if it ain t broke don t fix it Love the magazine not the app RonF63
OK so we downloaded this expecting it to provide a free sample issue to test out the app No dice Even though there is a Preview Issue listed the others have prices you cannot read the issue without subscribing After you tap READ you are given a choice of Subscribe or 5 99 which is NO choice at all Then adding insult to injury there is no back button there and no way of exiting tapping double tapping tapping behind the dialog box etc do NOT work You can slide from one story to the next but they are faded out left in the background behind the ever present and insulting choices of Subscribe or 5 99 Eventually one discovers that a precise tap in an unmarked location in the upper left corner works yet it returns you to a set of categorized stories in the issue not to where you started from There though a home icon returns you to the start Come on AN Sky Tel and Astronomy Magazine both have apps that let you read a preview without extra steps and test out how their magazine reading app works You need to do the same In the meantime to be fair I ll rate you right in the middle at 3 stars Your magazine has a great reputation but this app does not let us try it out or see how well your digital edition works Please fix things Barriers and Complications AstroPaul
A joy to read and wonderfully designed for the iPad Simply put a great monthly magazine on astronomical news and telescope reviews I find the writers engaging when discussing the latest news as they present complicated subjects in a direct and easy to understand way The reviews of telescopes and other astronomical tools and books are honest and detailed Beautifully written and illustrated Kenneth Margulies
