I carried a map and compass other digital maps gps unit etc but when I summited Mt Whitney I used this app Almost exclusively It shows in an instant where you are and how much further you have to travel or ascend descend to reach your destination or how much you have already trekked Incredibly accurate All distances are one way from the portal to the summit So some basic math must be used to calculate whatever you may be wondering as in how far have I trekked since I left Trail Camp This app worked perfectly 99 r u kidding me If Mt Whitney is in your future buy it Best 99 Ive ever spent
I used this all the way up the trail While the trail is well marked and not easy to get lost this app points out a lot of waypoints that can be useful while hiking the mt whitney trail Great for finding water sources campsites identifying landmarks and elevation mileage Etc if u are bringing Your phone on the trail and u are like me and u are a datahead about stuff like mileage and elevation this is a must have Great for use on the trail
